Design of technological processes is one of the most complex tasks in the field of design in general. This type of design is also involved in logistic system design as these systems are typically very complex so that quality of design solution has a great influence on efficiency and economical level of logistic processes efficiency in practice. Loading/unloading and warehousing processes (LUWP) within some logistics systems, especially in material flows require specific efforts which complicate typical LUWP. Aiming to consider adequate realization of LUWP, this paper shows the methodology of design of these systems.

The subject of the paper is computer simulation of ammunition consumption until the first hit in a sudden two-tank conflict. The first hit is important because it is often decisive in a two-tank conflict issue. The tanks are armed with different main weapons, one of which is a guided antiarmour missile, and the other is a classic gun which fires armour piercing rounds. The sudden conflict of tanks has been defined, starting assumptions have been given and the simulation model has been presented by means of the graphic representation of the platforms moving, mathematical transforms and algorithmic description. The model has been implemented by means of the GPSS World simulation language. The results of 10 experiments have been analyzed with various initial distances of the tanks in conflict.

Analyzing modern low level intensity wars and crises, we find some important characteristics that are similar or same for each one. The most dominant are combat actions in whole space without time limitations which means that, if you want to be successful in predicting enemy's activities, you continually need to know about enemy's activities in battlefield (people moving, moving of armor vehicles, artilleries and their positions, meteorological data etc). That kind of data is successfully obtained by passive multi-sensor systems dispersed in space of expected battle. We will introduce the philosophy of modern systems that are in use in NATO armies, activities of Military Technical Institute in realization of such a system named PRESEK and developing of new passive multisensor system with CCTV.

Available military resources in any category are not critical in peace since they are tailored for military use under extreme conditions. However, some systems such as satellite communications, cannot meet extreme requirements during combat actions. The paper presents tactical and technical specifications and dynamic characteristics of commercial (INMARSAT. INTELSAT, IRIDIJUM,..) and military (DSCS, FLEET-SATCOM, NATO, SKYNET,..) satellite systems which are important for electronic warfare. The paper also gives available user services of contemporary satellite systems (Internet providing, videoconferences, live multi-media, fax, e-mail, voice). A new generation of broadband satellites, due to be operational this year, vill provide global rooming for these services to the INMARSAT satellite system which experiences a growing military use. Tendencies are that the services of satellite systems (communication, navigation, reconnaissance, meteorological ones,..) are to be put at disposal to lower tactical units, aircraft and even to each particular soldier. Knowing satellite systems of potential agressors enables the determination of satellite system weak points from the point of view of reconnaissance and jamming.

The possibility of a vehicle to accelerate is very important for special-purpose high-speed tracked vehicles, especially for combat vehicles. It determines vehicle dynamic characteristics and has an important role for vehicle survivability. The determination of basic vehicle acceleration parameters is mostly carried out experimentally on realized vehicles but for vehicles in development it is determined by calculation. Some problems are present during the calculation because it is not possible to take into account all influencing parameters. The procedure for an easy calculation of these parameters is given in this paper. The values of the parameters obtained by this procedure are close to real values.

Savremeni vazduhoplovi predstavljaju složene sisteme koje treba efikasno i u određenom roku ispitati sa osnovnim ciljem da se utvrdi kvalitet leta u opsegu proračunom datih ograničenja, performansi leta unutar projektovane anvelope i stabilnost i upravljivost u toku izvođenja zahtevanih manevara. Ispitivanja u letu mogu biti usmerena i ka istraživanju drugih fenomena koji se ne mogu ustanoviti na drugi način. Ispitivanje u letu je od presudne važnosti, a s obzirom na to da je to poslednja faza stvaranja letelice, jer se samo u realnim uslovima upotrebe mogu potvrditi svi inicijalni zahtevi projektovanja i verifikovati njene performanse uz maksimalno vođenje računa o bezbednosti ispitivanja. Ispitivanje u letu sprovodi se po tačno definisanom programu koji mora zadovoljiti veliki broj civilnih i vojnih vazduhoplovnih propisa. Specifičnost ove faze stvaranja letelice je u tome što obezbeđuje povratnu informaciju timu konstruktora o opravdanosti njihove procene ili daje prostor za alternativu u projektu. Pored toga, konstruktori stiču uvid u saglasnost projekta sa zadatim specifikacijama i ponašanju letelice u stvarnim uslovima aplikacije. Vazduhoplovni opitni centar u Batajnici spada u red savremenih opitnih centara. Pored vojnih aplikacija raspolaže i svim civilnim ovlašćenjima koja mu omogućuju tržišni nastup u zemlji i inostranstvu.

In the last phase of a tender process, the Commission has a problem with choosing the best bidder, i.e. the one whose offer meets the highest requirements in the Tender documentation. A decision has to be made taking into account many different, and very often contradictory, criteria. For solving this one as well as similar problems, numerous methods, belonging to the multicriteria analysis and ranking, are developed. Taking in to account the characteristics of a problem imposed by choosing the bidder in a Tender process, one of the mentioned methods, the method of analytical hierarchy process (AHP) has been chosen as a basic method for ranking bidders. For the performed ranking control, the PROMETHEE I-II, method family is proposed.

Spare parts supplies stocks have a significant influence on proper functioning of combat vehicles in military operations. The form and quantifying of change of military vehicle readiness dependence on spare parts supplies will be recognized by applying the method of modelling and simulation. The basic factors influencing the readiness of combat vehicles are as follows: supply system structure, supply level for a given structure and probability of being supplied by spare parts at all supply levels. The most important result of the research is the knowledge of the basic factors influence, particularly the spare parts supplies influence on the combat vehicle readiness in military operations.

This work presents some common forms of the orifice area in hydraulic recoil brakes and their basic characteristics. The analysis of the fluid flow coefficient and the flow resistance coefficient is performed for various geometry surface areas on the basis of experimental data. The methodology of determining the flow resistance coefficient and its influence on the hydraulic braking force has been given.

In the current decade of this millennium automobile manufacturers must achieve an additional twofold increase in fuel efficiency and a tenfold reduction of emission of CO2 and pollutants, especially NOX and particles. To achieve this goal, a new specification of engine lubricants, whose contribution to fuel efficiency and reduction of emissions cannot be neglected, is to be developed. Development trends in lubricants move towards low viscosity, low content of sulfur, phosphorus, sulfate ash and low volatility, resulting in emission reduction and increase of fuel efficiency.

The demonstration and verification of maintainability during the development of a device is an integral part of the Maintainability Plan and Programme. During the demonstration and verification, the quantitative and qualitative parameters of maintainability are checked. The demonstration and verification of the maintainability parameters are done by applying certain statistical methods. An example of applying a statistical methods for testing the maintainability of corrective maintenance of radio is given in the work and the results of the demonstration and verification are analyzed.

A new approach to a stochastic real time pulse generator is described in this work. The stochastic generator is based on a PC software and the corresponding electronics for the communication with a PC. In may be used for testing and measurements, as well as for different sorts of developments and investigations. This approach has a special importance for testing under difficult conditions, e.g. tests in the presence of harmful radiation, in ground testis, in expensive tests setc. Using the stochastic generator, all of them can be realized significantly cheaper and in the lab conditions.

The investigation includes experimental and phenomenological studies of the catalytic activity of lead and copper oxides, (with a constant ratio of basic lead-stearate, calcium carbonate and carbon - black) in the process of burning of double base propellants of different energies. The catalytic activity ratio is used as a measure of catalytic activity, and it represents the ratio of the burning rate of double base propellants with a catalyst referent model to the burning rate of double base propellants without a ballistic catalyst referent model.

Investments in the improvement of maintenance systems are often brought into question as to whether they are justified or not. Introducing maintenance strategies, eg. RCM, TPM, on-condition maintenance, etc., is nowadays a worldurde tendency in the improvement of maintenance systems. The simulation method based on system dynamics has been applied to a model of a taxi business in order to analyze the effects of introducing modern maintenance strategies into that system. The obtained results show good accordance with experiences wordurde. The stabilization and adequate dimensioning of the maintenance system should proceed the system improvement using adequate strategies. Bringing maintenance strategies into use predominantly suits the systems with a high duty factor, ie. the systems with continually operating elements. Every 10% of reduction in the number of failures, preventive maintenance time and frequency of preventive actions gives an average rise of about 5% to the overall profit of a business. Improvements in the field of knowledge and quality of work bring further 5% rise in profit

A case of image filtering in air target detecting and tracking systems is described in this paper. Two image filtering methods are given. The first method is performed using a low pass convolving filter and the second one uses the mean value of gray level filter. The main goal of the cited filtering is implementation in IR (infra red) systems. Some statistical features of the images were used for selecting the threshold level. The next step in the algorithm is the determination of a 'tracking window' that can be fixed or adaptive in size. A false estimation of a target existing in the window may be influenced by the background noise, low noise amplifier detector, etc.

Some important details of creation and realization of a test program for the mean time between failures for fighter aircraft electronic equipment are discussed. Experiences from such a reliability testing program, concerning the calculated and required mean time between failures and choosing a proper test plan, are summarized. The conclusion stresses the importance of the calculation of the mean time between failures before testing.

Ranking and choice of sites and resources for dislocation of material supplies have been treated. Possible sites for dislocation and available resources are of different characteristics, thus being more or less suitable for dislocation of material supplies. Their ranking and choice are possible with the application of multicriteria ranking methods. However, since these methods are time-consuming, they are not suitable for time-restricted decision making. Therefore, this paper proposes an expert method (rank summing method) which gives fast results after an adequate preparation. Ranking of sites and means of transport is used to illustrate the application of this method.

When a mine detonates, a blast wave is generated, along with an impulsive burst of fragments, and an intense fire flash. However, the strength of the blast wave emanating from the mine decreases rapidly with standoff distance. The effects of a detonating mine can lead to a wide range of injuries, from amputations and lacerations to internal injuries in the head and torso. By making small adjustments in standoff distance and orientation when facing a mine, in conjunction with using effective protective equipment, injury potential can be reduced.

The paper presents a global approach to problems of qualification testing of complex technical systems, from programming and planning, through test performing of various performances and/or equipment, to the evaluation on the basis of test data and requirements specified by the customer. The new approach to the device quality concept is characterized by deficiency of test methods and proper evaluation criteria. The problem of proper evaluation for CTS based on test results from specialized laboratories is emphaszed in particular. The paper has identified main tasks for further research and development of testing methods and evaluation of CTS based on shown analyses.
