This paper presents a control algorithm for insulin delivery in Type I diabetic patients. The control algorithm utilize a robust H∞ controller to regulate the blood glucose level in diabetic patients. Diabetes mellitus is a family of chronic metabolic ailment in which body’s. In this study, Bergman’s minimal model has been used as a base model, to reformulate dynamics of insulin and glucose concentrations in blood’s plasma. To increase the functionalities of the glucose minimal model, some additions could be done. One of the additions is the exercise model. The performance of the resulting controller was tested on the nonlinear model of the process. The controller performance was evaluated in terms of its ability to mark a normoglycemic set point of 70mg/dl in presence of thrice daily meal disturbance and once daily exercise disturbance. A comparative study is given between our designed controller and the PID controller. The designed controller proved effective in achieving normoglycaemic and robust to meal and exercise disturbances.

This paper analyses the operation of an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS)-based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for solar photovoltaic (SPV) energy generation system. The MPPT works on the principle of adjusting the voltage of the PV modules by changing the duty ratio of the Voltage source inverter. The duty ratio of the inverter is calculated for a given solar irradiance and temperature condition by a closed-loop control scheme. The closed-loop control of the VSI regulates the duty ratio and the modulation index to effectively control the injected power and maintain the stringent voltage, current, and frequency conditions. The ANFIS is trained to generate maximum power corresponding to the given solar irradiance level and temperature. The response of the ANFIS-based control system is highly precise and offers an extremely fast response. The main objective for a grid-connected Photovoltaic (PV) inverter is to feed the harvested energy from PV panels to the grid with high efficiency and power quality.

The high temperature resistant polymer-nanocomposite was prepared using montmorillonite nanoclay as reinforcing fillers in polyester-based thermoplastic polyurethane/EPDM blends and the effect of increasing nanoclay loadings on physico-mechanical properties like hardness, tensile strength, modulus and Elongation at break was studied. Changes in mechanical and physical properties of polyurethane thermoplastic during aging at 70°C for 168 hours were investigated. The mechanical properties of nanocomposite after heat ageing studies at 70°C for 168 hours showed improved thermal resistance and increases with loading of nanoclay. The prolongation of the thermal exposure time, leads to a progressive increase in tensile strength. These results can be explained by the increase of thermal stability due to the increase of material rigidity and the decrease in chain mobility. The evaluation of the mechanical properties from tensile tests seems to be well correlated to the creep behaviour. The dispersion of the MMT nanoclay filler in the TPU/EPDM blends was achieved using aminopropyltriethoxysilane as coupling agent and investigated by SEM. The functionalized clay indicating improved interfacial bonding between clay and polymer matrix.

In this paper the complete collection of 12 link, 1-degree of freedom category of simple jointed kinematic chains (SJKCs) consisting of 6856 distinct chains are studied with an attempt to assess the efficacy of the characteristic polynomial based approaches using the link-adjacency, degree and structural matrix representations of kinematic chains for the detection of structural isomorphism amongst chains. All the cospectral pairs and triplets of kinematic chains where the isomorphism test failed to distinguish are reported in the form of a concise notation developed by the author for the purpose of documentation.

This paper presents the effect of cutting parameters on material Hardness and Pressure during turning of Hard Porcelain Material on CNC turning machine (SINUMERIK802D) at different level. In this work, all the cutting parameters namely, Spindle speed, feed rate, angle of cut and depth of cut are modeled using Response surface methodology (RSM). The impact of Spindle speed, feed rate, angle of cut and depth of cut on the material Hardness and Pressure is examined. Finally, the result of developed mathematical model is examined by ANOVA. From the basis of experimented results, it indicates that the angle of cut and depth of cut is the leading parameters that affect the Hardness and Pressure of material, which can be diminished when the angle of cut and depth of cut were kept at the lower level, while spindle speed and feed rate were kept at the highest level. The effect of spindle speed and feed rate were found to be insignificant as compared to the other factors.

Dielectric elastomer is one of the important electroactive polymer used as actuator in adaptive structures due to its outstanding ability to generate very large deformations under the influence of an external electric field. In this paper the role of compliant electrodes for enhancement of dielectric response has been discussed. Due to significant electrostrictive and mechanical characteristic of the elastomer, it has a great potential for electromechanical applications in actuators, transducers, artificial muscles and sensors. In most of the recent experiment for the determination of electrostrictive parameters in elastic dielectrics, several researchers have used in correct formulae without considering the contributions from lateral stresses, proper boundary conditions and edge effect. In this paper I identify some of the challenges associated with its development, and examine the main focus of research with key parameters affecting the performance in some of the potential applications.

Detection and classification of underwater objects in sonar is a complicated problem, due to various factors such as variations in operating and environmental conditions and the attenuation of the sonar signal in the water column can totally obscure a target-like object. In order to overcome such complicated problems detection and classification system is needed. Among them classification plays a major role in detection. Adaptive Boosting Technique (AdaBoost) is one of the best classifier for classification of the things with minimum error. The aim of the project is to implement AdaBoost technique to classify the given inputs depending on the features that are given to the training data. Using this technique, the signal de-noising is achieved. So this signal de-noising application will be very useful in the underwater target detections where the noise dominance is more.

Image-object extraction is one of the most important parts in the image processing Object-based image analysis (OBIA) method classify individual pixels directly, This method first aggregates image pixels into spectrally homogenous image objects by using an image segmentation algorithm and then classifies the individual objects using any classifier. Image segmentation is one of the most important pre-processing stages in computer vision to classify similar pixels to one cluster. Clustered pixels have the same attributes such as texture, color and intensity. The most famous segmentation techniques are edge based techniques, region based techniques, clustering based techniques and watershed based techniques. To overcome non continuity and non differentiability there is an introduction of a new method based on the curvelet transform, which represents edge better than wavelet. My work is related to extracting objects from images by detecting edges based on the watershed and curvelet transform.

The current work determines the rate of heat flow from a heating element. Extended tapered surfaces are provided on the element in order to enhance better convection. Overall heat transfer during this process is determined by modeling and meshing using finite element software and its validation is done using the governing equations. The heat dissipation from the element is also compared with the rectangular fins provided around it. The study is conducted by considering various materials to obtain optimum material selection to enhance the better flow of heat from the system.

This work primarily aim on different aspects of designing a spell checker for the Assamese language and integrating it as an add-on into Open Office Writer. Besides emphasizing on error detection and suggestion generation the programming model and challenges of developing the add-on for the aforementioned application has also been discussed. The system also takes care of the morphological aspects of the words. The algorithm generates a set of suggestion for misspelled words with the dictionary words by minimum edit distance techniques. Other techniques for suggestion generation such as soundex scheme are not explored. The system after integrating with Open Office Writer can detect spelling errors of Assamese words and if found wrong, it will suggest correct alternatives. This work mainly emphasizes on (1) Precision (2) Recall and (3) Well behavior in Open Office environment. For error detection and suggestion generation the results are given in terms of precision and recall.
