In the first part of the paper, the results of the research are presented, giving the increment of the power obtained with two contra-rotating hydro turbines, compared to one turbine, placed in a Venturi tube and rotating at 50 rpm. Since a small increment of power is obtained, research was carried out in order to give an answer to the question whether a larger increment of power could be obtained by increasing a number of revolutions per minute. In the second part of the paper, the results are shown for one and two contra-rotating turbines at the highest revolution at which no cavitation appears on the blades. The results are obtained with numerical simulations using software for solving Navier-Stokes equations.

Security of communications over broadband ATM networks is analyzed in this paper. Attacks on ATM networks (faber tapping, SONET (Synchronous Optical network) drop/add multiplexor attacks, eavesdropping, spoofing, virtual channel stealing, service denial, traffic analysis, protocol weaknesses, ILMI (Integrated Local Management Interface) attacks, PNNI (Private Network to Network Interface) attacks), model of ATM and ATM security framework are described. Some problems occurring within security and protection realization in the communication over ATM networks are also specified.

The characteristics of three-component RDX/PS/Al mixtures have been described s well as the method for their preparation. Polystirene as a binder is a thermostable polymer with satisfactory characteristics for bonding explosives. The constant content of 5% m/m PS was applied for different contents of hexogen and aluminium. The content of Al in the mixtures was 10, 15, and 20% m/m. The composition of the bonded explosives was examined as well as the detonation velocity of these mixtures.

The development and the present concept of the Global Positioning System (GPS) are presented clearly. There is also a short description of the basic operation principle and of the main GPS characteristics given, as well as its accuracy. The present accuracy of the system is mostly appropriate for orientation, nautical navigation, land navigation and aero navigation; however, for many other activities better accuracy is required. The article analyses methods to improve the characteristics of the satellite positioning system so as to comply with more stringent safety demands. The paper gives a clear overview of the development of a GPS modernization program up to the year 2030.

We described historical and technological conditions at the time when first Queueing Theory papers were published. The motivation for this report comes from fact that the year 2009 is the 100th birthday of this theory.

The selected personal NBC protection devices have served as an example for demonstrating the application of the compatibility evaluation method as a very important tactical-technical characteristic of each newly introduced item of weapon and military equipment in the Serbian army. It has been determined that a filtering protective suit, a light protective coat and protective gloves meet the required criteria of compatibility. The described method of testing compatibility can be also applied to other weapons and military equipment in stages of development, production and exploitation.

This paper covers the proposed solution for security of computer network in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces using virtual honeynets. The security is covered from the aspect of the architecture of computer networks with Internet access. The proposed usage of virtual honeynets for protection takes into account the accomplishments of science in this field as well as security methods and techniques, users' needs and opportunities along with the computer network components of the MoD and the SAF that can be targets for attack.

This paper describes a digital servo-system with a driving electromotor which substitutes the existing electrohydraulical servo-system on an IR localizer control device. Thus realized, a digital electrical servo-system provides requested accuracy of positioning and tracking with minimal velocities.

Changes in vehicle performances represent important changes of the overall condition of a vehicle and are analyzed regarding its life, ie. its mileage. Since real operational loads are generally considered to be mechanical, temperature-based and structural, the analysis of operational loads of motor vehicles and their elements focuses on the causes of condition changes. The initial criterion for estimating the exploitation reliability and readiness factors of motor vehicles is the frequency of 'in failure' condition occurrence. All other criteria result from the mathematical transformation of this criterion. The obtained data and the PROEFI software package have been used for determining the parameters of three observed distributions: normal, exponential and Veibull. An optimal distribution has been chosen using the Kolmogorov-Smirnof test for a significance level of 0.20.

A complex continual system design model based on the reliability theory is presented in the paper. If a goal function interval is defined in advance, and can be accurately determined on the basis of experience with similar systems and operation modes, then overall reliability allocation can result in obtaining demanded reliability intervals for each subsystem, each assembly and each mechanical element. In this way the goal function level is brought into direct relation with the reliability interval level of each constituent element of the system.

The new compound CL-20, a cyclic nitramine with the highest crystal density (over 2.0 g/cm3), is the most powerful non-nuclear explosive. The three-step synthesis of hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane (HNIW or CL-20) has been described. The CL-20 has the highest density and the highest detonation velocity among existing explosives as well as the highest energy among existing energetic ingredients for explosives, gun propellants and rocket propellants. Same explosive formulations based on the CL-20, energetic polymers, aluminium and ammoniumperchlorate are presented. Their densities and detonation velocities are also presented.

The correlation between particular weapons or pieces of military equipment in reference to other military technology items, i.e. their compatibility, represents an important factor for military technology designers, manufacturers and examiners at the stage of entering service in the Serbian Army as well as for end users - soldiers. The gas mask M3 of national production, currently at the stage of development, was taken as an example to illustrate an original, new method of checking compatibility which is an obligatory tactical - technical request for this item to be fulfilled prior to entering service in the Serbian Army. The described method can be successfully applied, after necessary modifications, to other military technology items.
