The major issue in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is energy consumption. Over the past years, various protocols have been proposed to prolong the lifetime and minimize the energy consumption of the sensor node. The main limitations in WSN are limited battery capacity, communication range and storage capacity. A suitable routing protocol is required to improve the network lifetime and minimize energy consumption. In this paper, we propose an Energy Centric Clustering Routing Protocol for WSNs (EC2RP). In EC2RP, node residual energy and distance parameters are considered. Further, the data aggregation rate is proposed which allows the cluster heads (CH) nodes to aggregate the data before it sending to the next CH node or base station node. The simulation results show that EC2RP reduces energy consumption and extends the network lifetime.

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN)has a lot of applicability in today's world, whether it is an informative field or other things. To achieve efficient data transmission, many routing protocols have been proposed where energy is always an important issue. This research aims to overcome the drawbacks of a flooding-based routing protocol by proposing a gossiping-based routing algorithm called SIG: Source Initiative Gossiping. We applied this protocol into a network and achieved that SIG is more energy-efficient than Flooding and Gossiping. It consumes about 50% less energy than flooding and 35% less energy than Gossiping. Our results indicate that SIG successfully achieves application reliability requirements in many topologies. We simulated it in MATLAB to achieve a comparing result among Flooding, Gossiping, and SIG

This research has taken a Quantitative, interpretive and cross-sectional designs in the form of a self-administered questionnaire through survey. The aim is to investigate the adoption of Cloud Computing by IT based small and medium scales enterprises in Northwestern Nigeria. About one hundred and fifty (150) questionnaires were distributed among seven states in the North-Western Nigeria and average of one hundred and nine (109) was responded. The result of the survey shown that most of the IT professional in these SMEs are cloud provider’s end users, continue to use cloud provider in the future, is part of their strategic effort, recommended Cloud provider to others and they are very satisfied with the cloud providers. Challenges that are preventing them from getting the maximum value out of cloud providers are lack of encouragement, poor training, application is missing and lack of executive sponsorship.

Generally, conventional home wiring system use simple latching switch that is being connected to the power supply for controlling electrical appliances such as fan, light, washing machine, air conditioner and television. The switch is usually located at the wall near the electrical appliance. This requires the user to move to the location of the switches to control the appliances. There is rapid increase in the number of people with special needs like the elderly and the disabled. Smart houses are considered a good alternative for the independent life of older persons and persons with disabilities. A smart home is a home that provides its residents the comfort, the convenience and the ease of operation of devices at all times, irrespective of where the resident actually is within the house. Smart Homes include devices that have automatic functions and systems that can be remotely controlled by the user. The primary objective of a smart house is to enhance comfort, energy saving, security for the residents and independent living of people at old age and people with disabilities. A low-cost prototype of a voice controlled smart home system controlling four devices by an Arduino microcontroller via a four-channel relay is presented. Voice control is one of the easiest methods to give input commands and is a more personalized form of control, since it can be adapted and customized to a particular speaker’s voice. Voice recognition is a computer software program embedded in a hardware device with the ability to decode the human voice. Most voice recognition systems require “training” (also called “enrolment”) where an individual speaker reads text or isolated vocabulary into the system. The system analyses the person’s specific voices and uses it to fine-tune the recognition of that person’s command. Upon successful recognition of the voice command, the micro controller drives the corresponding load with the help of the relay circuit. Voice or Speech Processing has been applied successfully for the control of the supply of energy to home appliances.

Software-defined networking (SDN), which decouples the control plane from data plane and provides programmability to design the network, has been considered as a viable paradigm shift to ease the management of conventional networks. Studies have identified that the placement of controllers heavily impacts network performance in SDN. Many studies proposed methods regarding controller’s placement in the network to improve the performance metrics such as propagation latency, distribution of load, failure resilience, and reliability of network. However, network operators' main concern is always Quality of Service (QoS) when placing SDN controllers. Because SDN controllers are responsible for providing services to the switches, controller response time is a critical QoS criterion for network operators. In this study two different approaches of controller placement were thoroughly examined and combined to offer a solution that minimizes the propagation delay among nodes and maximizes the QoS of the network by maintaining better load balancing.

In recent technology Edge detection technique is essential to image or video processing, which is The process of extract the structural information from digitized data. It involves various steps like object counting, feature extraction and classification. The goal of this study is to conduct a comparative examination of Edge Detection approaches used in video processing, with a greater emphasis on drastically reducing the dimensionality of image/video processing techniques. Edge detection techniques such as Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts, Laplacian, Canny, Krisch, and Robinson were compared. The evaluation of various edge detection approaches is based on characteristics such as PSNR, SNR, MSE, Entropy, and Execution time. Many video or image processing applications demand a quick processing response.

Wireless Sensor Networks are autonomic nodes disseminated in a large area of interest. These small units are capable of taking various measurements of their environment and sending them to distant base stations (BS) for further scheduling. Typical WSNs are composed of a great number of nodes, which have elementary energies and resources. This paper discusses the heterogeneous protocols of wireless sensor networks by targeting particularly two heterogeneous WSN routing protocols DEEC and EDEEC, which have several common characteristics, however DEEC is a protocol with two energy levels while EDEEC determines three energy levels. Some comparisons between the DEEC and the EDEEC heterogeneous WSN routing protocols are made and discussed in this paper. Three factors characterize the WSN Heterogeneity: The amount of initial energies, the signal power and the computational resources. In this paper, only energy aspect is considered.

Agriculture and productivity are extremely important to a country's economy. Plants becoming infected with diseases are a natural occurrence, but it can result in significant losses in agricultural productivity if sufficient precautions are not taken to identify the disease and apply certain pesticides in a timely manner. As a result, it's critical to have certain automated ways for detecting plant leaf diseases that save time and effort. Many people presented a number of automated approaches to detect and classify plant leaf diseases with varying levels of accuracy due to developments in image processing and machine learning techniques. In this study, we examine a number of current strategies that have been developed in this field. As a result, we may draw conclusions about the performances and what further improvements can be made to design more efficient systems in the future.

Despite, the fact, Internet of Things (IoT) has indeed proven an effective technology in transportation, agriculture, healthcare, industrial automation, and emergency response to natural and man-made disasters, IoT inherits limitations from power of the devices in the IoT infrastructure. Such limitations, demands the need to have optimization research. The aim of this study is to develop a parallel server architecture in an IoT-based service in a low-power environment. The need for parallel computing is necessary for IoT-enabled devices and system architecture. The server-oriented IoT-based cloud architecture study needs immense capability and efficiency to produce satisfactory throughput. Although the efficiency is relatively acquired by the services, the demand for security is also a matter of concern in the modern platform of IoT-supported services. The concurrent process of the encryption system, data processing and computation in the service transactions, and effective, reliable management of the servers working simultaneously in an energy-efficient network service architecture is the aimed product of this study. The focus is to provide the data and task level parallelism to ensure lesser transaction delay in the system.
