Based on the idea that international organizations are strongly determined by their historical context, this paper analyses the impact of the G20 on global governance. In so doing, it compares the post II world war order, characterized by formal multilateral institutions, and the new global order, where minilateral institutions tend to predominate. Findings show the emergence of a new way of building global consensus, in which democratic legitimacy criteria are enhanced whereas decision making effectiveness is still a pending issue.

With a starting point on historical analysis already carried out and consultation on primary sources, this article aims to narrate the story of the opening of the Amazon River to international trade and navigation. The hypothesis here explored is that to a significant extent, this process occurred under the influence of transnational actors, capable of promoting the adoption of a policy until then largely rejected by the Brazilian statesmen. According to the conclusions obtained, this hypothesis is confirmed. The topics here explored have the intention of giving light to the study of the history of the Brazilian foreign policy, the impact of non-state actors over it, and beyond that, today governmental politics concerning the internationalization of the Amazon Region.

The African chiefs of State, after the transformation of the Organization of the African Unity in African Union, proposed the New Partnership for the Development of Africa (NEPAD), like an area for a new relation of partnership between Africa and the international community. In this sense of new partnership, the African leaders got involved in promoting in his countries, in his region and in the continent, the peace, the security, the democracy, the good government, the respect of the human rights and a healthy economical management, like a strategy to orientate the development of Africa in the century XXI. The NEPAD caused a positive reaction in the international community. The NEPAD rests on bases of lasting development in the continent, without which they become impossible concrete results. Between these bases we have: the democracy, the good government, the economical government and the government of the enterprises. To reach the objective, the NEPAD proposes institutional reforms like the use of ways of evaluation that allow to set the good government up definitely in the structures of the State.

This article analyzes the Brazilian presence in Africa during both mandates by President Lula da Silva (2003 - 2010). The starting point is the idea that the previous contacts between these two sides of the Atlantic Ocean, diffuse and without continuity, with moments of greater or lesser approximation in relation to internal contexts (government) and external (international system configuration). In the 21st century, on one hand reassesses the role of Africa in international politics at the same time that there is a new form of inclusion of Brazil in this scenario; this policy seeks to meet both the Brazilian context of re-emergence of the African continent in the international system, regarding the redirection of foreign policy to an emphasis on dialogue and multilateral cooperation, emphasizing South-South relations. On the other hand, even with an ample resumption of these relations, it is not possible to characterize an inflexion in this relation starting from 2003; but rather, the insertion of the continent in the multilateralist strategy of Lula da Silva's government, backed by the construction of a continental policy towards Africa. This policy are marked by an intensified and enlarged continuity of the policies begun in the second government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso, strongly based on governmental approach, which depends on the stance of Dilma Rousseff's government, to proceed with the results achieved in the previous government.

The article analyzes the Indian political construction under British domination, during the imperialism, and the macroeconomic reforms that have occurred in India, especially since 1990, highlighting the major modifications conducted by Indira Gandhi and her successor, Rajiv Gandhi, in India’s economic policies since the 1980’s. Based on that analysis, this study concludes that the Indian economic ascension in the 21st century is a product of the set of reforms initiated in the 80s, with the objective of increasing economic liberalization, trade liberalization and foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country. Finally, it demonstrates the need for continuity and improvement of these changes so that India achieves a socio-economic growth and a sustainable industrial development.
