This article deals with the content of the major factors and conditions, providing the ability and incentives of modern businesses to innovative growth in accordance with the priorities, set by the national social and economic development. This article addresses the process of financing sustainable development on a global scale and summarizes problems arising within the process both at national and international levels. The necessity of global and holistic approach to the formation of the financing mechanism for achieving sustainable development is grounded. On the basis of retrospective analysis, this paper presents the evolution of transformations of financing sustainable development divided in three stages, namely sustainable development conceptualisation, sustainable development institutionalization and actualization of financing mechanism for sustainable development in global economy formation. In recent years, Russian universities, which have programs in economic sciences, are increasingly competing in the market of higher education. In order to establish the results of this competition, the article suggests a special academic ranking, designed to determine the effectiveness of research activities of Russian universities by calculating of their publications in leading economic journals of the country. It was performed the calculations and created the ranking for 2010-2012, including 100 universities of the country. Author identified 20 leading Russian universities, as well as strategy that helped the universities to get the competitive advantages in the research market. In paper there are ways of improving of the constructed ranking.

The article studies the dependence of going in for mass sports on the number of sports facilities and the cost of paid training and sports services. The analysis has showed the following: the number of going in for mass sports increased by more that 6 million people in the last 10 years, the number of swimming pools increased by more than 5 times, number of gyms – more than twice and the number of stadiums (which seat 1500 and more) decreased by 204, the number of flatwork facilities decreased by more that 100 thousand.

The Russian technical literature defines notion control as a slight change of object property values (or their combination) in desirable direction. Unfortunately, some valuable parameters of these changes, essential for the control process are not clearly set. For example, the amount of such change as time, in the course of which it should occur, is not set. As a result, the object undergoes some changes, but not control in the full sense of the word. To prevent confusion, the article has analyzed 13 types of changes, which the object can undergo and only two of them are really regarded as control.

The article analyzes ties between the spatial and economic relations with respect to the problems of spatial and regional economy. The article shows that spatial relations are poorly studied by spatial economy, describes the impact of spatial relations on the solution of a number of economic problems, singles out a group of topologic and field relations. The topologic models are proved to be the basis for economic and spatial characteristics linkage. This article presents correlative methods for spatial and economic characteristics linkage, shows the building of the spatial information field with economic indicators and highlights the necessity of spatial relations application for economic problems solving.
