This article deals with the content of the major factors and conditions, providing the ability and incentives of modern businesses to innovative growth in accordance with the priorities, set by the national social and economic development. Today, the progress of civilization is defined by intellectual and educational power of man. Intellectual capital, due to its immensity becomes a major national resource. From the perspective of development, knowledge is the condition of social progress, prerequisite of public self-reflection, which, in its turn, determines the level of the social system.
Special attention is attached to the role of knowledge in the modern economy and the sustainable development of social and economic systems. Natural, material, financial and technical resources were the major resources of the traditional economy, the role of knowledge and a man as its bearer was considered from the tactical value, instead of the strategic. The new knowledge economy can consider the intellectual capital as a key strategic resource, essential for the evolution and sustainable development of social and economic systems.
The article is very topical, as the problem of finding ways to manage and develop intangible resources of businesses is essential in terms of innovative development.
