Solar photovoltaic system performance depends on environmental conditions. Solar photovoltaic panel is a power source having nonlinear internal resistance. As the intensity of light falling on the panel varies, its voltage as well as its internal resistance both varies.This paper presents a circuit-based simulation model for a PV cell in order to allow estimate the electrical behaviour of the cell with respect changes on environmental parameter of temperature and irradiance. The general model was implemented on MATLAB scrip file, and accepts irradiance as variable parame-ters and outputs the I-V characteristic. A particular typical solar panel was used for model evaluation, and results was compare with points taken directly from the manufacturer’s published curves and show excellent correspon-dence to the model.

The adsorption study was carried out to evaluate the effects of various pretreatments on tea waste (TW) for the removal of Ni (II) metal ions from synthetic waste water. The tea water was chemically treated with 0.1M different NaOH, Na2S, HCHO, KOH, Na2CO3, H2C2O4, HCL, H2S04, H3PO4, HNO3 solutions. It was observed that certain chemicals NaOH, Na2S, HCHO, KOH, Na2CO3 increased (92.1%-74.8%) the removal efficiency substantially whereas other chemicals H2C2O4, HCL, H2S04, H3PO4, HNO3(24.9%-0.6%) reduced it drastically as compared with untreated tea waste 65.1%. The removal efficiency with NaOH and Na2S pretreatments was 92.1% and 92%. These two pretreatments were further compared by changing different reaction parameters. These were compared by changing the pH value, contact time, adsorbent dose and initial Ni(II) ion concentration along with the study of their equilibrium conditions. The Langmuir model described the adsorption isotherm best. The Langmuir adsorption capacity was found to be 30.31 mg/g for ATTW and 27.03 mg/g forSTTW at pH 6. The pretreatment with 0.1 M NaOH was found to be the best treatment method for the removal of Ni (II) metal ions from synthetic waste water

This paper emphasizes in the construction of hardware & software of spider bot and creates a powerful combination between them. Speech controlled spider bot is in the field of robotics, where it has integrated the hardware & software to create a working, walking model. The robot has four operational feet that will move it to the relegated goal. One of the benefits of strolling robots is that they are more qualified to deal with harsh territory than versatile robots.The experiment began with the building of a prototype & integrating its design into the real robot. The spiderbot is able to move its body with the circular rotation of servomotor & the rotation of servos are controlled through speech which is conveyed wirelessly via Bluetooth with the help of software called BitVoicer. An additional programming language termed Python is also used in this project as a medium of communication. DroidCam app is used to act android camera as spy camera.

This research work focus on the simulation of a gas turbine power plant using high pressure fogging air intake cooling system. Aspen HYSYS software was used for the simulation of the gas turbine with and without cooling system using the actual operating data for performance evaluation. The results obtained on the simulation of the gas turbine at ambient air temperature of 25.690Cwithout the use of cooling system showed that ambient air tem-perature decreases the net power output, thermal efficiency and increases the specific fuel consumption and heat rate. However, when the gas turbine was incorporated with air intake cooling system (high pressure fogging), there was drop in ambient air temperature which resulted to an increase in net power output, thermal efficiency and reduction in specific fuel consumption and heat rate.

All of the raw water in the world has micro-organisms such as bacteria, algae, funguses, and so on. These micro-organisms can be considered as colloidal materials and separated and removed by pre-treatment.Of course, the removal of all micro-organisms by the pre-treatment operation is very difficult, and some of them may escape from the pre-treatment process to reproduce and formed biofilm films.Microfiltration membranes (MF) and Reverse Os-mosis Membranes (RO) can prevent many micro-organisms. However, some micro-organisms escape through the pores of the membrane and reach the reverse osmosis membrane, which can cause biological fouling in the mem-brane. The signs of reverse osmosis membrane fouling include the increase in differential pressure and the melt fluxIt should be noted that the potential of biological fouling in surface waters is much higher than that of wells water; the concentration of bacteria in water is also directly related to the potential for biological fouling. The energy demand across the globe has increased in many folds due to technological advancement, rapid growth in industries and increase in household energy demand. This led the engineers and planners to think and find the means to harvest the alternative energy sources other than the fossil fuel. Microgrids are low-voltage distribution networks comprising various renewable power sources, storage units, and local loads. Microgrids can be utilized to provide different services for the main grid such as grid supporting during peak period. In microgrids single phase loads or sources can be used by the end-users and can make the grid currents unbalanced with poor power factor. The control strategy is able to mitigate negative effects of grid connected microgrid such as unbalanced operation and reactive power compensation, working under highly unbalanced conditions. Simulation results have been carried out by using MATLAB/SIMULINK to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

Equal Channel Angular Extrusion (ECAE) is the extrusion method that involves the use of angular die to introduce plastic deformation on any metal especially aluminum which in turn improves its hardness. Lubricant’s role cannot be under estimated in the process as it requires reducing the high heat of deformation and extrusion pressure involved. The commonly used lubricants for this process were from organic sources, very scarce and non-environmentally friendly. Hence, it is a great advantage to investigate alternative extrusion lubricant from vegetable source.Four vegetable based lubricants such as jatropha oil, castor oil, neem oil and cottonseed oilwere selected for this research. The properties of these selected oils were characterized to its physical and chemical properties. Aluminum rod was machined to 17 billets of size 11.95m x 11.95m x 40m (l × b × h) each and was annealed. The billet size was selected based on the configurations of the fabricated ECAE die. Four billets were extruded with each lubricant which makes the total of 16billets extruded for the four lubricants and the last billet was used as the control. The hardness of the extruded samples was evaluated after the extrusion and compared to the control. The hardness result was compared to the sample extruded with organic based lubricants from the literature It was discovered that all the lubricants tested greatly enhanced hardness of the extruded sample but at different magnitude. Jatropha oil exhibits the greatest hardness on extrusion of Aluminum.

The effects of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) treated pineapple leaf powder (PALP) on the mechanical properties of high density polyethylene (HDPE) composites were studied. HDPE and PALP (untreated, and treated) composites were prepared by injection moulding technique. The filler (PALP) contents investigated were 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 wt %. Results showed that the tensile strength, tensile modulus, flexural strength, abrasion resistance, and hardness of the composites increased with increases in filler content for all the filler contents investigated, while the elongation at break (EB) for PALP/HDPE composites was found to decrease with increases in filler content for all the filler contents investigated. It was observed from the results that H2O2 treated PALP/HDPE composites exhibited better mechanical properties than the untreated PALP/HDPE composites for all filler contents investigated. The present study has shown that surface treatment of PALP with H2O2 has proved to be an efficient alternative in bringing about an improved adhesion/compatibility between PALP and HDPE, thereby improving the mechanical properties of the composites.

The effects of filler content and particle size on the mechanical properties of unsaturated polyester resin reinforced with rice husk-coconut shell particles have been studied. Rice husks (RH) and coconut shells (CS) particles were ground and particle sizes were obtained using 75, 150 and 300µm standard sieves. These particles were mixed in equal proportions by weight to form the filler component of the composite. Percentage by weight fractions of 0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 of the filler were blended with unsaturated polyester resin (matrix) by hand lay-up technique. Thirteen composite samples were produced from different formulations. Tensile, flexural, impact and hardness tests specimens were prepared based on ASTM standards. Tensile fractured surfaces were analysed with the help of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) micrographs. It was observed that Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) decreased with filler loading with peak value of 19.691MPa at 10% composition of 150µm Rice Husk (RH)/Coconut Shell (CS). Flexural strength decreased with particle content. The filled samples had maximum value of 51.201MPa at 20% composition of 75µm RH/CS; the Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR) recorded 59.085MPa. Tensile and flexural moduli of elasticity followed irregular patterns. Peak values of 2316.248MPa and 3130.887MPa were obtained respectively. Impact tests did not show a specific pattern across all particle sizes. The closely related values peaked at 12.383J at 10% composition of 300µm RH/CS. Hardness values decreased with particle loading. The value of 204.833BHN obtained at 10% composition of 150µm RH/CS was the maximum. SEM micrographs showed low surfaces interactions, voids, agglomeration of fillers and shrinkage cavities. The fabricated composite can be used in the automobile and building industries.

Now a day the interest in using natural fibers as reinforcement in polymer composite material has increased significantly. Now this natural fiber based composite manufacturing has been a wide area of research and it is the most preferred choice for not only its superior properties like low density, stiffness, light weight and possesses better mechanical properties but also they are renewable, cheap, completely or partially recyclable, and biodegradable. In this study, an attempt has been made to fabricate jute-glass fiber based polymer composite skateboard and investigate its performances. For this skateboard, the materials were chosen epoxy resin (ADR 246 TX) as the matrix and jute mat and glass fiber as reinforcement. The construction of the skateboard is done by using hand layup techniques. The skateboard thus made was tested for its mechanical properties like tensile test, flexural test, drop test and impact test. Visual analysis of the skateboard shows that hand layup techniques provides a reliable process to make a perfect skateboard. The performance test results indicate that jute-glass fiber based polymer skateboard has a sustainable strength over Canadian hard rock maple wood for the application in constructing sportswear component i.e. skateboard. Cost analysis indicates that using this skateboard cost saving more than 20 % can be achieved.

Advanced Encryption Standard is the most widely used Symmetric cipher today. The algorithm uses a combination of Exclusive-OR operations (XOR), octet substitution with an S-box, row and column rotations, and a Mix Column. An adjusted engineering for AES with upgraded key development and for the Mix Column/Inverse Mix Column operations are fixed to reduce the chip region. Both encryption and decryption processes were implemented in the single chip. The throughput of 38.65 Gbps for encryption/decryption in a single chip (Virtex-5) FPGA has been accomplished.

Maximum and minimum void ratios are two parameters that have effect on mechanical behavior of soil. There are different parameters that have effect on value of void ratio such as size, angularity, roundness and shape of par-ticles. Particles size and roundness were studied at this work. Angular calcareous sand was selected and tested at this study. For doing tests, soil was washed, dried and sieved at 6 different size groups from 0.3mm to 4.75mmm. The sieves dimensions were 0.30, 1.18, 1.40, 2.36, 2.80, 3.35 and 4.75mm. Minimum and maximum void ratios were founded at all of these 6 size groups. At the second step angular soil has been changed to rounded calcareous soil by placing and turning soil in Los-Angeles machine without balls for 50000 revolutions and after rewashing and sieving the soil, minimum and maximum void ratios calculated for these rounded calcareous samples too. Same procedure was repeated for preparing well-rounded soil and same tests were done on new samples. Results showed that minimum and maximum void ratio decreased by increasing the size of soil samples. Same behavior of decreasing void ratio was seen when roundness of particle increased. Another result that can be mentioned was that, bigger uniformity coefficient (Cu) and wider range of particle sizes caused smaller void ratio. Results cleared that on minimum void ratio, size of particles showed more effect on angular soil than well-rounded. For maximum void ratio, effect of particles size was more considerable at rounded and well-rounded soil.

The paper consists of experimentation & simulation of dual fuel (Diesel-CNG) engine of off road vehicle. It is no-velty to introduce first time in India. The tractor engine consists of 4 cylinder, 4 stroke, direct injection naturally aspirated engine. Existing tractor engine is converted into dual fuel mode and tests are conducted. Diesel engine was successfully converted to dual fuel mode and simulation in GT power was validated with experimental tests performed on test bed. Simulation in GT power i.e. engine modeling for diesel as well as dual fuel engine includes 1D thermodynamic analysis of combustion & performance parameters. The results were obtained by maintaining the performance of diesel engine by testing engine with Nα mode (N-Engine speed, α- Throttle). Six different cases were taken by varying speed of engine. Results show that the engine operation is more economical on the pure diesel mode at lower speed; however, at higher speed dual-fuel operation is better. BSFC is lower for dual fuel mode compared to diesel by 8%. Volumetric efficiency of dual fuel engine is lower as compared to diesel engine by 5%, PM concentration under dual fuel operation is lower compared to normal Diesel operation. CO and HC emis-sions levels are considerably higher compared to normal Diesel operation. Hence, CO and NOx are reduced with aftertreatment devices such as DOC and EGR respectively. Dual fuel engine effectively meets the emission norms and is compatible for off road vehicles.

The design of a compact planar monopole antenna featuring ultra-wideband characteristics and simultaneous signal rejection in the 6.5-8.5 GHz band is presented here. Five different antenna configurations have been proposed with the same RF performance and radiation characteristics. Co-Planar Waveguide(CPW) is used to feed the radiating element. The presented results depict that the prototype antenna of 47×47 mm2 dimension has a bandwidth from 3 GHz to more than 10.6 GHz excluding the rejection band. Measured peak gain of the fabricated prototype antenna varies from 1.5 dBi to 5.5 dBi except the notch band. This gain can be improved by 3 dB (avg.) implementing honeycomb superstrate along with metallic shield.

This research work focus on the evaluation of water-based eggshells powder as a quenching medium for hardening medium steel. Medium carbon steel sample with original diameter of 12.00mm and gauge length of 50m was quenched in both the agitated and non-agitated water-based eggshell powder quenchant. The medium carbon steel samples were initially normalized and this was followed by austenitizing the samples at 930oC for 20 minutes which was eventually quench in both the agitated and non-agitated water-based eggshell powder quenchant. Hardness test was carried out on the as-quenched samples to determine the performance of the water-based egg-shell powder quenchant which was compared with water and oil. Also, the specific latent heat of vaporization, cooling rates of all the selected quenching media and metallographic analysis was carried out for each as-quenched sample in the selected media. The results obtained show that water-based eggshell powder quenchant has a higher specific latent heat of vaporization than water. The microstructure of samples quenched in agitated water-based eggshell powder quenchant revealed complete transformation of the austenite into martensite and a good degree of hardness was obtained. Therefore, water-based eggshell powder quenchant can be used as a quenching medium for hardening steel.

A TD 110-TD 115 single cylinder four-stroke compression ignition engine test bed, and incorporated with a hy-draulic dynamometer was used to conduct the engine performance analysis to study the influence of marula oil methyl ester (MOME)- diesel fuel(DF) on engine performance The engine performance experiments of DF samples and MOME –DF blended fuel samples; B5 (i.e. 5% MOME and 98% Diesel fuel by volumetric proportion), B10, B15, B20, and B25 were conducted in accordance with standardized SAE practice SAE J1312 procedure for four-stroke compression ignition engines (SAE, 1995). The findings of the tests show that: the brake power reached to a maximum at 2000g engine load, and decreases slightly thereafter for all tested fuel samples. The brake power for B5 and B10 fuel samples were observed to be 0.19% and 0.094% higher than DF(2.315 kW), with B15 fuel sample exhibiting brake power value similar to DF benchmark, this could be attributed to their comparably higher fuel mass flow rate, better fuel oxygenation, and air-fuel mixtures than DF sample; the minimum brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) values for all tested fuel samples was recorded at the engine load of 2500g, with B5 and B10 fuel samples lower than the DF benchmark (309.10 g/kWh) by 18.7% and 0.16%, thus suggesting a propensity for improved fuel economy on account of their lower fuel consumption patterns, lubricity and higher fuel mass flow rate; the drop in brake specific energy consumption (BSEC) values for B5 (2.75%), B10 (1.95%), B15(1.66%), B20(1.37%), and B25(0.22%) fuel samples were also found to be lower than the DF (13.83MJ/kWhr) benchmark, to further explains the influence of biodiesel proportion in the fuel samples, whose increase lowers the calorific values, air-fuel mixtures, and consequently raises the densities and viscosities of fuel samples with an adverse effect on fuel atomization and combustion. The combined effects of improved fuel combustion and inherent lubricity of fuel blends enabled B5 (2.68%), B10 (1.91%), B15 (1.53), and B20 (1.15%) fuel samples to exhibit higher brake thermal efficiency (BTE) values than B25 (26.1%) and DF (26.1%) samples respectively under similar loading condition. Consequently, the rise in biodiesel proportion in the blends is the culprit for poor fuel atomization and combustion behavior, which in turn serves as a pointer to higher blend viscosities and lower calorific values respectively. It could be seen from foregoing that B5, B10 and B15 MOME-DF blended fuel samples clearly demonstrated superior performance characteristics than conventional diesel fuel, and is therefore suitable for use as fuel, and diesel fuel extender and/or conserver in Nigeria.

The design steps of cellular manufacturing systems (CMS) are usually performed sequentially without considering interactions between stages. There needs to be a certain feedback among different parts of CMS design so that the system can be designed simultaneously for a better functionality. In this paper, an intuitive approach to eliminate congestions in CMS was developed. Part routings were determined by a machine resource minimizing model, ma-chines were grouped to form cells, and a simulation analysis was performed to determine the effects of fixed part routings on cell formation and the material handling system. A procedure to eliminate congestions in the material handling system by intelligently altering part routings was proposed. A sample problem was solved. Numerical results indicate that the proposed procedure is effective.

This paper proposes an improved Two Phase Clocked Adiabatic Static CMOS logic (2PASCL) circuit. The proposed circuit is based on energy recovery adiabatic principle which consumes less power. The number of transistor required in proposed circuit is same as that of reported 2PASCL. Various combination circuits such as inverter, NAND, NOR, XOR has been designed using both the logic style. A two phase complementary sinusoidal power clock has used with different frequency. Detailed power analysis, delay analysis, Power Delay product analysis between proposed 2PASCL, Reported 2PASCL and CMOS logic has been performed over a frequency range from 20Mhz to 100 Mhz. In the proposed inverter and combinations circuits the power efficiency has been improved to almost 18% compared to CMOS and reported 2PASCL logic. Also it has been observed that if input signal frequency is equal or doubled the clock frequency then the proposed circuit gives best performance. The 2PASCL technology finds application in low power digital devices.

Fault diagnosis is one of the major issues in every field of engineering, which may cause failure of the entire system. Fault diagnosis detection methods have been considerably increased over the past few decades. A presence of fault in structural member introduces local flexibility which affects the vibration response of the structure. The response of the system depends upon the type of fault occurs with its location. The damage in the structure leads to changes in natural frequencies and mode shapes. Early detection of presence of damage can prevent the catastrophic failure of the structures by appropriately monitoring the response to the system. In the present investigation fuzzy logic technique has been used to determine the fault in terms of crack. Here the transverse surface of the crack is considered and analyzed using FEA and fuzzy logic system. Analytical study has been performed on the cantilever beam with single crack to obtain the vibration characteristics of the beam. Here author intend to introduce fuzzy logic technique for fault diagnosis using several fuzzy rules. Here the first three natural frequencies are obtained and that are considered as input to fuzzy system. It is observed that the fuzzy controller can predict the depths and locations accurately close to the finite element analysis.

This paper is focused on examining the parametric effects on backward cup extrusion of aluminum billet. Four parameters including Temperature, Punch displacement, Billet radius and Time were considered in the course of the study. It was observed that the higher the percentage reduction in area, the higher the temperature increase during the extrusion process. The effect of an increasing billet length showed a corresponding increase in the extrusion pressure, whereas, the extrusion pressure increased asextrusion ratio increase. Extrusion speed varied directly with metal temperature and pressure developed within the container. However, the extrusion force depended on the flow stress of the billet material, extrusion ratio, friction condition between the billet and container, friction condition of the die material interface, initial billet temperature and the extrusion speed. Hence, this study becomes essential for the selection of the right parameters for optimal extrusion process of metals.

The negative effect of indiscriminate disposal of the Spent Engine Oil (SEO) on the fertility of soil and the living of aquatic animals has been established. While SEO has been degraded by the environmental condition of the engine, recycling the oil to regains its invaluable properties and reuse will not only minimize the effects of indiscriminate disposal but will also minimize the servicing cost of engines. This paper discusses the development of a recycling plant for SEO. Laboratory experiments reveals that the viscosity of the recycled oil at 100Oc is 0.30mm2/s compares to the fresh oil 0.4mm2/s and spent engine oil 0.15mm2/s. Also, the flash point of the recycled oil is 120OC compares to fresh oil 110OC and spent engine oil 100OC. The metal content found in the recycled oil is 5.50ppm compares to the spent oil 22.50ppm.

The goal of current paper is to follow the circulation pattern in lake Rudrasagar occurring during episodes of significant wind flow. An early established wind induced three dimensional lake circulation numerical models developed by Cocyigit and Falconer in the year 2004 has been applied to this lake,where a conventional sigma co-ordinate system was applied for following the bathymetry of the lake more accurately. This model was already tested against analytical solution and laboratory data and was successfully applied to Esthwaite Water, a small lake in Cumbria by the model designers. Application of this model in the lake Rudrasagar, West Tripura reveals some typical circulation patterns for different conditions. Numerical results were compared with measured velocity profile of the lake and the study reveals a fair agreement between them. Changes in the magnitude of velocity were also estimated along and across the wind axis for this lake and were found to be insignificant.
