The present study endeavors to understand the characteristics oof Indian stock market using a simple conceivable framework. The first section introduces the theme of the study and the bone of contention. The next section describes the market returns data characteristics of Indian stock market finding of which shows a contradiction of the normality assumption of stock returns under Geometric Brownian Motion. Next segment studies the relationship between stock market returns and some selected macroeconomic variables which are presumed to have significant bearing on stock market. Correlation results exhibited that Consumer's Price Index is significantly negatively correlated and Exchange Rate is significantly positively correlated.

Gender is an important variable when attitude is studied in order tto understand the online consumer behaviour deeply. Still attitude has not been explored profoundly to get better revealing results in terms of online buying. Also very few studies addressed the gender differences in online shopping attitude, There is a dearth of literature available on online buying behaviour in Indian context. Considering attitude as a tri-component construct to contain cognitive, affective and behavioural constituents, the present study confirms the existence of the same three components. This study focuses on examining the gender differences across all three components of attitude to find whether significant differences exist or not. This study differentiates the three attitudinal components of the model and reveals that the gender differences were not found to exist between management students towards online buying. The study is of quite importance as the results add to the current literature with filling the void at same time in context emerging economy like India.

India has the largest concentration of tribal population in thee world and their lifestyle is very close to the nature. Likewise in Odisha, especially KBK (Undivided Koraput, Bolangir and Kalahandi) district has got unique identity for its tribal population and lifestyle. They are very sensitive to their typical culture and less prone to change. But the tribal of these areas posses specialized skills in the form of handicraft, which pass from one generation to another and is a source of their livelihood. Handicrafts are mostly defined as "Items made by hand, often with the use of simple tools, and are generally artistic and/or traditional in nature. They are also objects of utility and objects of decoration.” Moreover through these handicrafts, the tribal artesian can empower themselves because these products get huge response from the urban consumers, hence it becomes a source for their income earning. This paper aims to study, how the demographic attributes like age and gender influences consumer preference towards tribal handicraft products and to know various attributes, which have a larger impact on purchase of tribal handicraft product. Though the study was undertaken in Rayagada district (undivided district of Koraput) during Chaiti festival, its scope is limited to the same district. The nature of this research is a descriptive research. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data. The survey instrument was subjected to overall reliability. The data was gathered through a five point Likert scale questionnaire from 150 respondents. Mean, Standard deviation, one way ANOVA and Regression analysis were carried out to serve the purpose of study.

Retailing in India has been one of the oldest occupations, which was initiaalized as family business, run by different members of the family for generations, engaged in mainly grocery, FMCG or apparel retailing. It was only after liberalization that organized retailing started spreading its wings and currently it is one of the most lucrative businesses contributing significantly to the country's GDP. It was during the 2008 – 2011 recessionary phase that this industry underwent mild difficulties but since India was not majorly affected as the western world, the retail industry continued its growth trajectory. This study was conducted with the objective of understanding consumers' responses to specific visual stimuli as presented by retailers from time to time within the store and also to find out the various factors that influence consumers' monthly requirements of FMCG buying behavior from different organized and unorganized formats of retailing. Primary data was collected from 200 respondents across the city of Kolkata. Regression analysis, to establish relationship between variables and Factor Analysis, to identify various shopping factors were done by means of SPSS 20.

Role of internet in everybody's life is increasing. It is accessible to almost everyone. It has changed the way we live. Marketers are also using Internet as the medium to sell their products to customers. Marketers need to represent their company on the internet to attract more customers and enjoy larger market share in today's competitive business environment. So it becomes important for them to understand the factors which consumers consider while making online purchase. The objective of this study is to examine the factors influencing online shopping and to find out that how these factors affect willingness to purchase online. Data was collected from 200 respondents in Jalandhar city of Punjab with the help of a questionnaire. Factor analysis and Multiple Regression analysis have been used as statistical techniques to analyze the data. Results found Website Security, Reliability of the website, Return and Exchange policy, reasonable prices offered, Customer Services Offered, Positive Customer Reviews regarding website and informative website are the factors influencing online buying behavior. Web site security has been found to be the most important predictor of willingness to buy online.

Passenger car industry is one of the key industries in India as well as thee world. Since the compulsive and ambitious structural adjustment programme of Indian government aimed at economic liberalization in 1991, the Indian car industry has sailed along. With the reforms in economy and the sector, the car market with significantly low penetration level immense market size, coupled with rise in the per capita and disposable income of the working population, has made it an attractive destination for global automobile players. Considering the significance of the sector at the global level, the present analytical study was undertaken to analyze the recent trends and provide a situational inventory based on Porter's five forces model. The analysis findings suggest that the overall attractiveness of the Indian car industry in the present scenario may be rated as moderate. Though, with the projections pertaining to the expected growth rate in the coming years and potential in the niche Indian rural market along with the favorable government initiatives the axis of the attractiveness would fall on the higher side.

Aim of the Study: The study is intended to understand the influeences of perceived HR practices of globalised Indian insurance companies on work family conflict and employee engagement. Research Philosophy and Strategy:Underlying principle of the study is deterministic philosophy based whereas the paper highlights established causes with outcomes. The study applied Multinomial Logistic Regression (MLR) model which is one of the important methods for categorical data analysis experimented with ten well practiced HR issues namely job design, flexi-schedule, working conditions, performance appraisal, remuneration, job security, T & D, workforce planning, stress management and employee well-being. The data set of the study consist 220 respondents from 20 insurance companies (public and private) located at Kolkata region, West Bengal. Conclusions and Implications:The conclusion from the study is based on Indian and western literature also through empirical evidence that perceived HR practices are quite impressive for employee engagement but consequential outcome on family domain seems quite dark. The study found that four out of ten select HR practices namely job design, flexi schedules, compensation and training and development does not have any impact on work family conflict and to be considered as finest HR indicators. But performance appraisal, compensation system, stress management and manpower planning projects non-influential practices in case employee engagement. The study would be beneficial for the insurance HR professionals to relook and re-shape their existing HR practices vis-a vis work life balance policies. Scope for Further Study:Although above relationship based on limited indicators, therefore difficult to generalised, so structural equation modelling could be used to test more focused relationships embedded within HR practices and Work Family Conflict/Employee Engagement. Additional research could also be conducted to determine the causal influence and temporal dynamics of the relationships between engagement, and work family conflict.

The present paper is an attempt to find out the dependence of ggrowth rate on the exports and imports during the entire reform period. The processes of reforms were introduced by the Government of India in July 1991 and the subsequent extensions of these reforms were carried out in later years. The period after 1991 has been marked by a substantial transformation in trade policy and the policy of trade is tilted towards export promotion and import substitution/restriction to achieve higher growth rate as one of the objectives of existing trade policy. Therefore, through the present endeavour, we try to establish a causal relationship among these variables vis-à-vis growth rate, exports and imports. In this paper, the results reveal that there is a positive relationship between growth rate and exports. The number of independent variables is not exhaustive, leaving an opportunity for further exploring the effect of various other macroeconomic variables on the growth rate of India.

The present study sought to explain the returns generated by the muutual funds operating in India. Using quarterly returns generated by all equity funds excluding sectoral, closed-ended, index tracking and discontinued fund schemes during the period of January 2010 to December 2014, analysis was carried out with the help of Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), Fama-French (1993) three factor model and Carhart (1997) four factor model. The CAPM, which considers only the broad market movements as the determinant of asset returns, suggested that fund managers were significantly adding value in terms of returns generation through stock selection, market timing etc. However, Fama-French model and the Carhart model show an entirely different scenario. Both models suggest that fund managers did not add any value to the fund returns. Whatever was the return generated by the funds, was due to the risk factors considered in the models. The findings of the study are eye opening. They raise significant questions against the huge fees and commissions pocketed by the fund houses when they were not adding any significant value to the return generation.

All the developed nations which have exceeded the levels of greeen house gases have to cut the emission rate or borrow carbon credits from developing countries. Hence, trading in carbon credit has been started. Large number of entities in India generating carbon credits and sells them to developed countries through international market. After the implementation of Kyoto Protocol, the opportunity of revenue generation by taking up structured Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects has given a new source of revenue for Indian Corporate sector. India is one of the major players in the global market on the supply side of CERs after China. In this paper attempt has been made to explore the revenue from carbon credit in Indian corporate sector. This study includes ten companies which have disclosed carbon credit revenue in their annual report. The sample units are selected from various sector of economy like chemical, power, mining, sugar, paper, steel, cement and electric equipments. On an average the sample units could be able to provide only 6.84 percentage of total revenue. If carbon credit revenue of two companies viz. Gujarat Fluorochemicals and Rana Sugar ltd. are excluded from the sample average comes 0.776%. In order to examine the hypotheses Chi- Square test and ANOVA statistical techniques have been used. The first hypothesis is accepted while second hypothesis is rejected. It reveals that there is no significant difference among different sample companies regarding generation of revenue from carbon credit trading but there is significant difference among the average value of revenue earned from carbon credit transactions of different years of sample units.

The purpose of this study is to examine the degree of direct and indirect relationship between employee empowerment (EMP), and job performance (JP) with job satisfaction (JS) as a mediator, as no study has been reported in literature so far. The hypotheses were tested using SEM technique on a sample of 240 sales executives' of pharmaceutical organizations, to measure and test the structural model proposed. The result confirms that employee empowerment and job satisfaction is directly related with improvement in individual's job performance. The results of sobel test also demonstrate the significant mediating effect of job satisfaction on empowerment and job performance. This study provides useful information for pharma managers to improve employees' job satisfaction and performance via employee empowerment. This paper also contributes to the existing literature by examining the direct and indirect effect of employee empowerment on job performance. The limitations to the study are also discussed.

Education plays a very important role in the growth and prosperity of any nation. Punjab, a well known state of north India, is a leader in providing education. The Punjab education system has witnessed a significant expansion in the recent years, both in terms of number of institutions as well as students enrolment. But, the quality of education still remains poor. The present study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the higher educational institutions in providing quality education, from the view-point of students in Punjab. The study covers three districts of Punjab i.e. Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana. Primary data has been collected to achieve the objectives of the study. A well structured questionnaire containing 32 items has been used for the purpose of the study. The respondents have been asked to rate the quality of education, using a five point likert scale. Descriptive and Exploratory Factor analysis have been used to analyze the data. Percentages, graphs and diagrams also have been used for analysis of the study. The factor analysis has resulted in eight factors showing the satisfaction of students regarding the quality of education in their institution. As per the results, the availability of infrastructure facilities as an important factor followed by placement services, education environment, extracurricular activities, knowledge up gradation, academic facilities, student support services and academic staff.

Pliant-Tech India is an ISO 9001:2008 leading global plastics manufacturer of Seadart brand of double-walled insulated tubs and pallets for a wide range of food processing, industrial and logistics applications. The company had been facing severe competition from the indigenous enterprises in selling and distributing its insulated tubs in India. The customer segments of Pliant-Tech were fishing industry, poultry farms, ice cream manufacturers and ice cream vendors. The National Sales Manager and his team had been aggressively trying to directly sale the product to primary customers, develop the distribution channels and push the product, but were partially successful in their endeavor. The dealers perceived the Seadart products to be of low margin for the trade and 35 per cent costlier for the customers as compared to the products of indigenous players. The case narrates and describes the challenges and difficulties Pliant-Tech India was facing in selling and distributing the Seadart brand of insulated plastics tubs amongst its customer segments in India.

Celebrity endorsement has become very popular element in the advertisement nowadays. Corporate uses this opportunity to grab the market and for expand their operation and promotion of their brand and product. More than ten percent of television advertising includes celebrity endorsements. The purpose of this research paper is to explore customer perception towards celebrity endorsement. Nine factors were manipulated in this research paper which is attractiveness, trustworthiness, physical appearance, popularity, and image/Goodwill, and reliability, negative role of celebrity, aspiration, and brand for result. For that 100 graduates and post graduate students from Amritsar (Punjab) were taken. Result shows that attractiveness of a celebrity endorsing a particular product/brand strongly influence a customer perception and impact of product and brand are more positive on the customer buying decision compare to celebrity endorsement. So celebrities' professional accomplishments and expertise may serve as a logical connection with the products, and consequently make the endorsement more believable to consumers.

The empowerment of women is crucial for the development of the country. Women empowerment is a process in which women challenge the existing norms and culture, to effectively promote their well being. The Indian Constitution grants equality to women in all aspects. In this regard, the year 2001 was celebrated as the year of Women Empowerment. The concept of self help groups (SHGs) introduced by the Ministry of Rural Development has taken its roots in nook and corner of the rural areas and in the semi-urban and urban areas, which help improve the living standards. The present paper examines the economic empowerment of the SHG members through the SHGs. The study is conducted in two blocks of Puducherry viz Puducherry and Oulgaret. Primary data were collected through structured interview schedule from 100 respondents, 50 each from the selected blocks. Paired t test was conducted inorder to find out the effect of becoming members in the SHG in respect of economic empowerment. The study proves that the SHGs enabled the women to have a significant improvement in the economic empowerment.

Purpose– The main purpose of the present research is to study the relaationship and impact of Ownership Structure i.e. Promoters', Indian Institutional Investors' and Foreign Institutional Investors' shareholdings on the financial performance of the selected Pharmaceutical companies listed in Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). Design/Methodology/Approach– The study applies panel data regression analysis to a sample of pharmaceutical companies listed in BSE during the period 2004-2014. Findings–The paper finds that promoters' shareholding is positively and significantly related to both the financial measures i.e. Return on Equity (ROE) and Return on Assets (ROA). There is insignificant negative relationship between foreign institutional shareholding and both financial performance measures. The same insignificant negative relationship was found between Indian institutional shareholding and ROE but ROA is insignificantly and positively affected by the Indian Institutional shareholding. Practical implications– To improve the performance and accordingly the value of companies, the percentage of promoters' ownership should be increased as it has positive linkages with the financial performance. Further, it will help the investors to pay special attention to the type of ownership and ownership concentration of companies while making the investments.

Banking sector is considered as the lifeline of a nation, whichh translates the aspirations and hopes of people into reality. The mounting and massive expansion and diversification of banking sector has not been without its strains. With the elapsing time, Indian banking sector is entering continuously into newer phases, facing increasing competition from non-bank institutions not only in the domestic market but also in the international market. In the direction of successfulness and excellence, Indian banking sector, with the dawn of financial reforms, knocked the door of a new phase, where it witnessed major changes which include, but are not limited to interest rate deregulation, prudential norms, liberalization, globalization and more importantly entry of new private sector banks. This completely changed the style of operating of Indian commercial Banks. Despite the praiseworthy progression, Indian banking sector became prone to serious problems which resulted in decline of efficiency and productivity, eroded profits, deteriorated capital base which was further followed by bad quality of loan portfolios. These problems became greater setback in the process of bank's income generation and in beautifying their capital base. The deteriorated picture of capital has further led to inadequate loss provisions resulting into the adverse impact on depositor's and investor's confidence. Ultimately there appears the highest possibility of reputational risk to take place. Laconically, one of the main reasons behind such distortion and erosion of profits and capital base of commercial banks is financial risk to a greater extent. So, it is quite imperative to know the ups and downs of Indian commercial banks by studying and analyzing the relationship between their financial performance and financial risk. The present study is devoted in this direction which intends to explore the relationship between financial performance and financial risk by using the Linear Multiple Regression Model. The researchers have selected ten leading banks, five from each sector i.e. public and private, as representatives on the basis of their total assets. The analysis of the study validated that the two balance sheet risks (i.e. Interest Rate Risk and Liquidity Risk) are insignificant to the profitability whereas Credit Risk, Capital Risk and particularly Solvency Risk are statistically significant to the financial performance of Indian Commercial Banks. The study educed with a conclusion to have instrumental risk management approaches in practice to tackle financial risk exposure, aiming to stall the risk events before their intensity increases beyond the risk appetite of Indian commercial banks and snowball into a debacle.

Hence, it is important to predict, control and analyze the structure and determinant of demand for education. The proposed study focuses on impact of expenses on coaching for MBA entrance exam on the demand for management education across various management institutions in Indore with the help of the primary data & Logistic Regression. The data has been collected from a student survey of MBA 1st year students of 2012-14 batch from institutes affiliated to DAVV(Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya) or Devi Ahilya University and IIM-Indore (Indian Institute of Management-Indore).

Youth is form of precious human resources in every country. Interestinggly, this people nick names are more like in youth, young, adolescents, young adults and adults. The present study searched based on reviewed high standard journals cat log and opinion page in daily news papers, but its available only public related studies and general health problems. It's not covered health for youth in any areas. Today, adults are faced several internal and external health problems. Nearly 10 to 30percent of youth people are affected by several diseases like nutritional disorders, diabetes, hypertension, tuberculosis, road traffic accidents, tobacco use and alcoholism, stress, suicide, depression and violence are more in the age group of 10 to30years. The analysis part used in this study is meta-analysis of availability of different studies, reports in different areas of youth. After reviewing so many studies, there is no concrete action for youth health in both sides.In India, many health programmes are introduced on general public, for example, health insurance scheme, maternal benefits schemes, immunization for children etc, but it is not covered for youth health specifically. No separate health programmes and policies for them and need to take care of future pillar of our nation. The present reviewed study strongly recommends few health programmes and policies to alleviate the visible and invisible health problems of young.

The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) of Inddia is most progressive legislation enacted by parliament. This is the flagship program introduced by UPA government and implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development with primary objective of providing livelihood security to rural poor of BPL families by providing them at least 100 days guaranteed unskilled manual work in a year. The Act has become the fact of life of rural poor and with the stipulation that 33% of the total work will be given to the women it provides the means to raise the socio-economic status of the rural women from BPL families. In this paper by conducting a survey of rural areas of district Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh) and by the in-depth interview of women beneficiaries it is tried to find out that up to what extent MGNREGA is helpful for women in raising their standard of living through the provision of 100 days guaranteed employment. The paper also highlights the factors influencing the participation of women in this scheme and assess the institutional and governance system related to the implementation of the scheme particularly the ways through which employment opportunities are offered to women. The results suggest that MGNREGA has positive impact on the quality of life of women in rural areas but there is also a need for immediate rectifications of some of the flaws observed during the survey to make MGNREGA more effective.

In the complex and dynamic business world with the ever increasing requuirements of the work, employees are likely to develop conflict between their work and non-work activities. Family–work conflict (FWC) and work–family conflict (WFC) are more likely to exert negative influences in the family domain, resulting in lower life satisfaction and job satisfaction. Studies have identified several variables that influence the level of WFC and FWC. The aim of this study is to find out about the married women employee's perception of various factors which could leads to FWC. Quota sampling method was followed. Survey was conduced and data was analyzed on the basis of responses provided by 100 respondents. A well structured questionnaire was formulated, which was subjected to pilot testing and re-drafted. The obtained data was analyzed using descriptive, mean and S.D and inferential statistics. Carl Pearson's Correlation was used to find the relationship between the different variables. The result of study may have practical significance for human resource managers of especially where married women employed at large extent to improve staff commitment and productivity together with designing their recruitment and retention policies.

Design/Methodology/Approach – A review of available literature was summarized to identify the factors contributing more stress so that most studied factors will be taken into consideration for future empirical research. Findings – The majority of the earlier studies showed that the Work attributes (Work overload and Difficulty of work) and Role conflict/Role ambiguity are the most studied variables and most important variables causing stress followed by High Self expectations and Staff related problems.

The development and the increasing progress that is being experienced iin the Information and Communication Technology have brought about a lot of changes in almost all facets of life. In the Banking Industry, it has been in the form of online banking, which is now replacing the traditional banking practice. The present paper is the outcome of an empirical study conducted with the objective of investigating customer's views regarding e-banking. It covers Customers perception on online banking activities and its impact and promotional measures used by banks to promote online banking. This paper therefore, examines, if customers' choice of banks is influenced by the quality of e–banking services provided. Stratified sampling was used; while the survey Instrument was a developed Questionnaire comprising open ended and Likert type of questions. The Likert type questions have a 5 point scale (indicating 1 strongly disagree to 5 strongly agree).secondly personal details and customers' e-banking preference in Gwalior. The instrument contained 23 items and was administered to about 300 respondents, while 285 respondents using regularly online banking services. The statistical techniques used for the analysis were the ANOVAs. The ANOVAs analysis revealed that the relationship with different income group of respondents that the perception about the e–banking services offered by banks. The study revealed that education, gender and income play an important role in usage of online banking. The research corroborated the conceptual framework stating that if skills can be upgraded there will be greater will to use online banking by consumers.

A study has been conducted on private banks in central Chhattisgarh through multivariate analysis. The study is expected to contribute to the human resources policy makers of bank organisations so that the retention and performance of the employees may be enhanced.

This study examines the relationship between big five personality traitts and self-efficacy of high school teachers in Karaikal. In this study, Big Five Inventory (BFI) and Teacher Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES) have used to measure the personality and their self efficacy. The study is carried out on a sample consist of 200 teachers in Puducherry. The data have been selected through convenience sampling. Pearson Product Movement Correlation analysis has been used for analysis. The results of the study reveal that there is a significant positive relationship between extraversion, agreeableness, openness to experience and conscientiousness to self-efficacy. However, there was a significant negative relationship between neuroticism and self-efficacy among high school teachers.

Industrial productivity is an essential component of economic growth annd development process in any economy; therefore all economic policies in India as well as other countries have focussed to foster the productivity growth of industries. Productivity is the relationship between a flow of output produced and inputs which are used to achieve that flow of output. There are a number of empirical studies pertaining to estimate industrial productivity and its determinants in India during pre-reform and post-reform periods. The main objective of this paper is to review some of the important studies and thereby (1) identifying the major techniques employed to estimate industrial productivity and its determinants and (2) to explore the impact of economic liberalization on industrial productivity in India as observed by various studies. The studies have been reviewed under two categories; first, country level and second, regional level studies in India. After review the literature on pertaining to estimation of industrial productivity in India, it has been explored that translog index method, growth accounting approach, Malmquist productivity index, Levinshon-Petrin method, DEA and stochastic frontier analysis are the important techniques for estimating industrial productivity. As far as the impact of economic liberalization on industrial productivity in Indian is concerned, most of the studies have shown higher productivity during post-reform period indicating the positive impact of economic liberalization.

Dividend announcements are always a matter of concern for the investorss to make investment decisions in equity of any company, as it is a major component for maximizing the wealth of shareholders. Whereas, the another component is the price fluctuation. The present study investigates the reaction of stock prices to dividend announcements by testing the semi-strong form of market efficiency. It analyzes the dividend announcement of 25 companies representing various sectors listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange for the year 2013. Expected and abnormal returns from the market model were evaluated using the Capital Asset Pricing Model and Paired t-test was employed to test the impact of dividend announcements on share prices of select companies. To test the significance the Cumulative Average Abnormal Rates were studied for the varied categories of event days. The findings suggest that there is a significant difference in the impact of dividend announcements in pre and post announcement period on the share prices of the selected companies. Hence, investors are advised to follow dividend decisions of the companies ardently in order to make wiser investment decisions.

But managing them at workplace is the need of the hour. The objective of this paper is to identify the factors which can help employees to demonstrate emotionally intelligent behavior at workplace. In this context, 10 variables have been identified from the literature and subsequent discussion and a structural model has been developed. Contextual relationship among these variables has been identified and interpretive structural modeling (ISM) technique has been used. MICMAC analysis has been used to carry out the classification of variables based on their driving power and dependence power. Better understanding of these variables and their contextual relationship can help organizations to make strategic and tactical decisions further helping in policy formulation.

Research Objectives: The broad objectives of study are to explore the various services offered by mobile telecom service providers in Delhi and NCR, to establish a relationship between the perceived value, service quality dimensions and marketing mix with that of the satisfaction of customers and to establish a relationship between customer satisfaction and behavioral intentions of customers. Research Methodology: The study is exploratory in nature. A systemized and organized study was done to reach the desired objectives of the study. The responses obtained from the respondents i.e. customers using mobile telecom services in Delhi and NCR using various statistical techniques. The importance of this study is that it focuses on identifying the various factors affecting the overall satisfaction of customers using mobile telecom services in Delhi and NCR. Here in this study various independent variables are perceived value, service quality and marketing mix, where the dependent variables are customer satisfaction and behavioral intentions. Significance of Study: One of the drivers of customer retention is customer satisfaction which is achieved by ensuring that the customer gets need satisfying products and services. It is, therefore, important to understand the needs of the customer and provide solutions in the form of products and services that actually meet those needs.
