The paper presents a short review of histrorical development of the Queueing Theory, also known as Theory of Waiting Lines or Theory of Mass Servicing. We described historical and technological conditions at the time when first Queueing Theory papers were published. The motivation for this report comes from fact that the year 2009 is the 100th birthday of this theory.
Current analytical decision preparation trends promote operational researches in every activity, including defence systems. The paper gives a brief overview of the essential operational research characteristics and the areas of possible applications within defence systems as well as the directions of their further development.
The selected personal NBC protection devices have served as an example for demonstrating the application of the compatibility evaluation method as a very important tactical-technical characteristic of each newly introduced item of weapon and military equipment in the Serbian army. It has been determined that a filtering protective suit, a light protective coat and protective gloves meet the required criteria of compatibility. The described method of testing compatibility can be also applied to other weapons and military equipment in stages of development, production and exploitation.
The performance of a radar in the presence of a standoff and a self-jammer is simulated. By varying the radar and jammer parameters and geometry, the user can study the effects of the jammer on the radar performance. The temperature is used in the radar equation to access the impact of jammer power on the radar SNR. The thermal noise introduced by the receiver and antenna can also be included. The antenna is a rectangular aperture uniformly illuminated in elevation and represented by a sampled aperture with a Taylor distribution in azimuth. Multipath (i.e. the interference of a ground-reflected wave with the direct wave) can significantly affect the radar performance.
This paper covers the proposed solution for security of computer network in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces using virtual honeynets. The security is covered from the aspect of the architecture of computer networks with Internet access. The proposed usage of virtual honeynets for protection takes into account the accomplishments of science in this field as well as security methods and techniques, users' needs and opportunities along with the computer network components of the MoD and the SAF that can be targets for attack.
The article analyses the methods to improve the characteristics of the global navigation satellite systems so as to comply with more stringent safety demands. Existing global navigation satellite systems have also been discussed. Near future of existing global navigation satellite systems can be observed in the mutual integration and further in the integration with other sensors used for collecting all kinds of data serving in the creation of information necessary for any aspect of human life. At the end there is also an assessment given as well as the expectations that the number of users of global navigation satellite systems will rise in the future in various fields of human life, which says more than enough about how important and how broadly applied they are.
When choosing a supplier today, a dominant criterion is quality, and a new concept of quality is said to be a superior method in the management reform. Unlike the traditional approach, the new concept of quality provides sales growth as well as a reduction in overall business expenses. Providing quality in accordance with the international standards series ISO 9000 is a condition to be fulfilled in order to enter the world market and cooperate with international companies.
