Left renal vein is about 7.5cm long. It passes across the posterior abdominal wall posterior to the body of pancreas and splenic vein and near its end, lies in front of the aorta to open in inferior vena cava just below the superior mesenteric artery origin. It is located at the left renal artery level i.e., in between first lumbar and second lumbar vertebrae. In this case, the left renal vein united with the inferior vena cava at a lower levelthird lumbar vertebra by crossing behind the abdominal aorta. Retroaortic left renal vein passes posterior to the abdominal aorta and is an uncommon condition. Retroaortic left renal vein compression between the aorta and the vertebrae is known to cause urological complications such as varicocele, hematuria and ureteropelvic junction obstruction. It is of great surgical importance for a left renal surgery.

Generally, the term “Prana” means the vitae constituents or elements that exist in the body without which the sustainability of life would not be possible. The ancient science of life i.e. Ayurveda states the concept of the term „Prana‟ in many ways. Acharya Charaka has mentioned “praneshana” (desire for living a healthy life) as one of the most important among the triad “trayeshana” (three desires of life). The term is synonymous with vayu, rakta, ahara. There has been mentioned of dwadasha prana (12 forms of life) that existed in dasvidha pranayatana (10 dwelling sites) in our body. The marma sthanas (vital spaces) have also been considered as points where prana existed, any injury to them causes deformities or death. Among the pranas, prana vayu is majorly understood as „prana‟. Pranavaha srotasa has been explained by the acharyas along with it‟s root, causes of it‟s vitiation & symptoms of injury and their responding treatment. Function of Prana Vayu has been co-related broadly with the functions of nervous system that are involved in the processes of respiration, digestion and supraclavicular reflexes.Prana resides in the pranayatanas and marma-sthanas, thus special measures should be taken while working in the close proximity of these points, so that any harm to them can be prevented.

Ayurveda is the oldest life science which deals with eight different branches (Astanga Ayurveda) related to different therapeutic aspects. Shalya Tantra is one of the prime branches which deals with surgical and Para surgical concept. Acharya Sushruta is a pioneer of Indian Surgery and Sushruta Samhita is only complete text, which deals with the problems of practical surgery, especially emergency condition. Acharya Sushruta has described various surgical emergencies namely, Sadyo Vrana, Asthibhagna, Haemorrhage, Ashmari, Chidrodara, Moodgarbha, Bhadgudodara, and their management. In above-described disease Patan shastra kriya is done. Patan is one of the shastra kriya among six types of shastra karma described by Acharya Charak in Vrana chikitsa adhyay of Charak Samhita. Udar Patan shastra Kriya is performed in Udar rog such as Chidrodara, Moodgarbha, Bhadgudodara, etc. which requires surgical interventions, So, here a review of Udara Patan shastra kriya is attempted to explore mentioned in Ayurveda with special reference to udar roga.

Introduction: An important component for maintaining balance in between body, mind and soul is Trayopstambha (sub-pillar of life) i.e Ahara, Nidra & Brahmacharya. These three supportive pillars of life play an important role in development, sustenance, reproduction and termination of life. These sub-pillars help balancing the main pillars of Life i.e. Vata, Pitta & Kapha in our body. So a questionnaire was developed to assess the lifestyle of individuals on the basis of Trayopstambha and it was then validated. Aim: To know whether there is any effect of lifestyle on health status of population w.s.r Trayopstambha. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY: 1. To ascertain parameters to determine Lifestyle of Subject on the basis of Trayopstambha 2. To assess Health status of the subject with the help of WHOQOL-BREF. 3. To find out correlation between Lifestyle and Health Status of the subject. Methodology: Survey study was conducted using validated self-administered questionnaire, which was prepared by pooling information on Ahara, Nidra & Brahmacharya i.e. Trayopstambha structured with the help of classical Ayurvedic Texts and the WHOQOL-BREF instrument used for the assessment of Health status. The survey was conducted among subjects from immediate vicinity belonging to the age group 20-50 years. Results: Pearson’s correlation coefficient is done to determine the magnitude of the association as well as the direction of the relationship, and there was a significant positive correlation between Trayopstambha and WHOQOL-BREF at r= 0.55, p< .001 This shows that if Trayopstambha scoring is high by following proper Ayurveda rule & regimen than Quality of Life scoring is also high. Conclusion: The study demonstrated the significant relationship between Trayopstambha questionnaire and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire thus indicating that the Quality of Life can be improved by abiding the rules of Ahara, Nidra & Brahmacharya as mentioned in Ayurveda text.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a disease of dristipatala (retina) and complication of long-standing uncontrolled diabetes due to defective metabolism and endocrine dysfunction. Prevalence of Diabetes mellitus (DM) has been drastically increased in last few decades. DM is metabolic disease involving inappropriately elevated blood glucose level with disturbance of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action or both, which lead to micro and macro angiopathy. Diabetic retinopathy refers to retinal changes which is a progressive, degenerative, vision-threatening condition which leads to permanent blindness. Incidence of permanent blindness is 20-25 times higher in diabetics than normal population. It is not possible to compare diabetic retinopathy exactly to any particular disease in ayurveda, but there are many references which indirectly point out that prameha can cause netra rogas as its upadrava. Hence analysing the Nidana Panchaka of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is of prime importance in order to achieve Samprapti Vighatana. The aim of this conceptual study is to analyse the Nidana Panchaka of diabetic retinopathy which, thereby aid for its effective management.

Jyotishmati is a brain tonic mentioned in Ayurveda for various psychological disorders. Its Botanical name is Celastrus panniculatus Willd. and belongs to Celastraceae family, in English it is called as Staff tree. It is a woody climber. Its seed oil is the official useful part, apart from it its seed and leaf are also used in various pathological conditions in Ayurveda. It has anti-arthritic, wound healing, hypolipidemic, and antioxidant activity. Jyotishmati seed extract possesses significant antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activity. There are many studies available in recent era to prove its brain tonic activity.

Agnitundivati (ATV) is the kharaliya Rasayana and has unique combination of minerals, Visha dravya, kshardravya, lavandrvya and herbal drvyas. It mainly contains Kajjali, vatsnabha, kuchala, yavakshar, sajjikshar, tankankshar, Saindhav, Samudra, souvarchl. These all are helpful for deteriorate metabolism and rises strength of intestine. There are various references of ATV in classics of Rasashashtra and Sangraha books. Although ancient seers have mentioned the ATV for the Agnimandhya purpose, the contents, method of preparation, Anupana, doses and duration are justified latter by Sangrahagranthakar. The present paper has collected all the classical references of ATV and attempted to elucidate the context of given references.

Now a day‘s most of the people are attracted by westernization i.e. western food western lifestyle, sedentary lifestyle etc which is giving rise to impairment of Agni indirectly Agnimandya leading to formation of Amavisha or Annavaha Strotas diseases. Amlapitta is one of the Annavaha Strotas diseases arising due to Amavisha. It is characterized by qualitatively and quantitatively increased Amla Guna of Pitta. The cardinal classical clinical features of Amlapitta are Avipaka(indigestion), Klama(tiredness), Utklesha(nausea), Tikta Amla Udagara (sour and bitter belching), Hrit Kantha Daha(heat and throat burn) and Aruchi(anorexia). Based on clinical presentation it classified into Urdhawaga and Adhoga Amlapitta. Ayurvedic science helps for removing root cause of diseases, with the help of various Shodhana, Shamana treatment along with Pathyapathya. Urdhawaga Amlapitta can be correlated with gastroesophageal reflux disease. Symptoms of GERD include nausea, acid regurgitation, dyspepsia, fatigue, loss of appetite etc which are much more similar to Urdhawaga Amlapitta. Hence, here is an attempt to review more on Urdhawaga Amlapitta.

The term Stana has been frequently used in Ayurveda. Stana has been studied as an anatomical structure which is related to Stanya (breast milk). The Stanas are present in female child but the modification of Stana occurs during puberty and pregnancy in female. Here the Stana which will be reviewed is the human anatomical structure or Stanyashaya (mammary gland) by its classical and modern concepts.
