Universities are affected by the social and economic diversity stemmed from globalization and internationalization, and its functions, area of responsibility, organizational structure, funding capability respond this diversity. In today’s knowledge society, different new concepts regarding the university education system such as Entrepreneur University, Corporation University, virtual university etc. have been emerged with wave of globalization effect. The rising competition in academic education and the mass demands for education prompt to universities to get seeking new funds for fixing their financial situation, and hit them transforming into entrepreneurial identity. The reflections of neoliberal approach in education have transformed the universities into the corporations which are much more focused on entrepreneurial, student-oriented and aimed to appropriate education and producing creative human resources for global development. In this study, a comprehensive evaluation will be carried on regarding the entrepreneur university model through the litterateur research to investigate its causes and factors that impact and improve it. The aim of the paper is to generate a framework that identifies dynamic processes of entrepreneur university model, dependently the litterateur syntheses. The contribution of the paper will depend on its consequent argument that entrepreneur university model is viable for Turkey. In this paper, the entrepreneur university model will be analyzed by Triple Helix phenomenon with the comparative approach.

A number of programs are implemented in order to meet cognitive, social and emotional needs of gifted students. One of them is the radical acceleration that ensures gifted students gaining access to university three or more years before than their peers. First performed in 1971, radical acceleration is currently implemented in many universities in United State and Asian and European countries. There are many researches on radical acceleration showing that it has no negative impacts on gifted students, rather it provides important outcomes. This study investigated radical acceleration and its outcomes on gifted students, as well as suggestions regarding to its application. Finally, situation of many countries in terms of radical acceleration, and legal regulations in Turkey’s were presented.

It was aimed in this study to quantify smoking habits and nicotine dependency of future health care professionals such as doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, and midwives, as well as academic members of associated faculties and to calculate the economic steady cost of smoking. Students in the faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, and Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Nursing and Midwifery and faculty members in Marmara University were included in the study. As a means of data collection, Fagerstrom test for nicotine dependence (FTND), and questionnaire including questions about socio-demographic data and cost of smoking were performed. Prevalence of smoking was found 36,89% for faculty members and 22,02% for students; there was significant difference between these two groups (t=11,08; p<0,05). The mean FTND score of the students and faculty members was 4,1±1,9, and 6,6±2,3, respectively. There was also statistically significant difference between the mean FTND scores of two groups (t=8,37; p<0,05). According to calculations, students and faculty members spends 1/4 and 1/5 -of their income to smoking, respectively. Only steady costs were calculated in this study; indirect costs of smoking were not included. Teaching staff of health care education like a medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing and midwifery in university need to quit smoking themselves in order to encourage smoking cessation. This study is unique for investigation smoking status students and trainers at the university level. This is also only survey that measures the cost of nicotine dependency and smoking. Academic staffs in field of health sciences should, as a role model, first quit smoking themselves to promote smoking cessation activities.

The human being has to socialize once he is born as an individual and is under the influence of the environment, and the ethical, esthetic and moral values since his childhood. The thoughts, wants and wishes of the individual that conflict with the environmental order and values are repressed outside the consciousness. The repressed feelings and thoughts are converted into symbols in the form of visual images outside the consciousness. Unformed symbols provide the purest hint regarding the internal conflicts causing mental disorders. There is regression in verbal expression in some psychiatric disorders and especially in psychosis. Symptoms specific for the abstract thoughts and verbal language pathology appear. Visual language as graphic language may become the single way of communication in such instances. This constitutes the rationale and main principle of “Diagnosis and Treatment by Art’’ in the psychiatric field. The three-function method of spontaneous psychopathological art enables the use of art in individuals with a psychiatric disorder. This is the projection of the complexes and conflicts that are subconscious or outside consciousness with spontaneous images as graphic and plastic expressions and enables making a diagnosis. The second function of psychopathological art is to monitor the disease progress. A series of artistic work enable the step by step monitoring of the disorder’s progress. Pathological changes can be reflected in the works of art even before the clinical symptoms of the disorder appear. The third function is enabling treatment. The individual who has severed connections with the environment is in a chaotic word. During the time the psychopathological art method is used, the patients start to see the artistic work as a mirror where they find and watch themselves and their behaviors. When the artistic endeavor of patients with a mental disorder does not take place under suitable control, it becomes a tool that helps the patient escape from the environment instead of making him better. The art therapist therefore has to be very careful within the therapeutic approach and keep a delicate balance between intervention and staying quiet.
