This work is framed in a Research Project (POL148/10) which inquires about the academic policies in Distance Education (DE) in the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR), in Argentina, in the graduate studies specifically; taking into account the necessity of a continuous teacher training in the modality. We present the results related to: the faculties that have been carrying out relevant experiences; the developments regarding the academic policies and management in DE; the implementation of a virtual pedagogy in each faculty, and the Virtual Campus of the UNR. It attempts to present some partial reflections about the research problem, in order to socialize these contributions with national and international academic communities.

This article presents the results of a study which compares the effect generated by the problem-based learning strategy (ABP) and the Diagrama V de Gowin Dosificado (DVGD) on the student’s performance.This study was carried out specifically in the learning about the chemical reactions classification in third-year students at the Liceo Bolivariano Militar Experimental Coto Paul de Barquisimeto-Venezuela, 2010-2011. A sample of 70 students which was divided into two groups (A and B), was used. The results show no statistically significant difference in the assessment average on the post-tests.

This article invites us to reflect on inquiry of the quality of basic education in Chile, from a gender perspective. To do this, we analyzed the discursive praxis of a group of students of pedagogy through a group interview, identifying the metaphors that make their speech, which shows the characterization of their own teacher identity. We conclude that, beyond the professional attributes, education in Chile is a profession exercised mostly by women, on which rests the maternal apostolate and other principles inherent in the female gender stereotype. This over-population of female teachers can be the reason for the quality of basic education in Chile to be stuck.

The purpose of this article is to tackle the pedagogical orientation which must take on the geography teaching in the contemporary world, from the vision of the learners-teachers on geography and earth sciences. It starts of the idea that the globalization is a complex sociohistorical situation, apart from uncertain and paradoxical that affects the traditional educative orientation and the geography teaching process only teaches programmatic contents. This discrepancy entailed to the implementation of an essay type test at learners of this specialty of the University Core from Tachira of The Universidad de los Andes, Venezuela. The results stresses that is necessary to understand that global world is in crisis because of losing of values. The education, then, must contextualize at this time and mainly or specially, the geography teaching, which one has to include the promotion of citizen values. In conclusion, the learners contribute with points of view coherent with knowledge and practices made by experts in this field/Sphere of knowledge.

The purpose of this research was to analyze the administrative management of the teacher director in terms of planning, organization and direction. It is about a field research of descriptive character in which a dichotomous questionnaire was applied in order to obtain the information. The instrument used was validated through the technique of experts’ opinion, and its reliability was determined by applying the Kuder-Richardson formula (K-R20) resulting in high reliability 0.90. The results revealed that the teacher director’s administrative management in terms of planning, organization and direction is not performed efficiently; this fact affects the institution and all the actors involved in it.

Based on Cultural Researches a schooling analysis was made and it involved to question about the subject that the hegemonic project prepares in relation to democratic and multicultural aspects of the society pos-industrial nowadays. Through the research got to prove the confrontation among cultures at a Primary School. It was resorted to do-it-yourself (DIY) of researching methods for identifying and interpreting conflicts between the suggested content and the cultural collection of the students. The interpretation of the used curriculum associated at the conflicts by meaning that this hides, allowed suggesting alternatives to select knowledge which be able to take up the scholar time like that organize the pedagogical practice.

This article reports the research results about the indigenous Mokana family and its socio cultural participation and integration in Tubara. The research was carried out with the cooperation and active participation of the indigenous families, their local council authorities and the research group. Thanks to all of them it was possible to do the characterization of the group studied, as well as the interpretation and understanding of its ethno-historical legacy. Methodologically, there were some techniques implemented such as direct observation participants, semi-structured interviews and photographic records, among others. Finally, the research yielded information on the status of acculturation that has been experiencing this indigenous group; and from the social sciences perspective, it helped to rescue and immortalize the Mokana’s ancestral wisdom.

This article aims to analyze how the redefinitions of the state role in reorganizing the boundaries between public and private materialize in the Brazilian educational policy through the partnership of the public sector with the third sector market, with implications for the democratization of education. The text presents a brief history of Brazilian education, an example of a partnership between the public and third sector, the Ayrton Senna Institute and a public system of basic education represented by a public school of the state of Rio Grande do Sul and debate about redefining the role of the state occurred and the current context of changes in settings between the public and private.
