The purpose of this study is to discuss strategies for developing integrated e-learning (IEL) courseware based on instructional design and technology (IDT) models and approaches as well as new discussions of e-learning. For this purpose, the study begins with the selection of one or more IDT models to conduct an e-courseware design including IEL modules based on instructional strategies and improvements. The authors discuss the strategies and steps that a design team should follow in designing integrated e-courseware, which gives way to effective e-learning with new variables such as job performance and learning. The steps include the development of content, units and modules for an IEL course. To recap, our purpose is to combine the necessary IDT models’ strategies for the pedagogical design of an IEL. Powerful IDT models are also discussed so as to meet the very high expectations of IEL with new ideas and new responsibilities in the e-learning process. To develop high quality IEL courseware, we will explain the integrated e-courseware design steps and their practice in order to improve learning tasks, complex cognitive skills, attitudes and competences in the e-learning process, as well as defining job performance and the business environment. At the end of the study, the IEL dimensions, including pedagogical, technological and organizational dimensions, and the main barriers to implementation, including perspectives such as student, teacher-designer, learning materials, job performance, the next generation of e-learning in business and social learning, and context setting, will be discussed and presented.

Problem Statement: Moving schooling age to an earlier time as a result of the transition to the practice of 12-year non-continuous compulsory education in 2012-2013 academic year has brought the discussions on whether students’ readiness is sufficient or not. However, the teachers’ readiness is also an issue as important as a student’s readiness and has to be questioned. Considering the children’s developmental characteristics, personal differences, their interests and needs, the first 12 weeks of the first grade in primary school are spared for adaptation and preparation practices. These game-based practices are supportive in all areas for the students who start to school at an earlier age and they ease the adaptation process for them. Nevertheless, it has not been considered in detail what primary school teachers, who are responsible for designing, implementing and carrying out these game-based practices, think about game-based education, and how they feel about it. Purpose of Study: The purpose of this study is to identify the teachers’ opinions on configuring primary school first grade practices with games as proposed in the new program after reorganization of Turkish Education System as “4+4+4”. Methods: This is a descriptive survey model study aiming to find out the attitudes of 157 (106 female, 51 male) primary school teachers towards the construction of primary school first grade practices with games in terms of various variables. These teachers are working at schools connected to Isparta Provincial Directorate of National Education. According to the reliability analysis on the data obtained by personal information form and teacher questionnaire, Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient is found out as .81. Findings and Results: The data obtained from this research were analyzed with SPSS 15.0 Windows package program. In the analysis of data, independent t test, One Way ANOVA, frequency analysis and descriptive statistics were used. The predetermined level of (p<0,05) was taken as basis for significance. Research findings show that there is a significant difference between the participants’ level of attitudes towards teaching first reading and writing with games according to their gender. Moreover, no significant difference found between teachers’ attitude levels towards game-based education according to their professional seniority, the schools’ socio-economic levels, their students’ pre-schooling backgrounds and the number of students in the classroom. Conclusions and Recommendations: The results show that the attitudes of primary school teachers towards game-based education in teaching first reading and writing are lower than the average. The reason for this can be interpreted as the teachers’ lack of experience on game-based education, since the research findings show that teachers, in fact, believe in the importance of game-based teaching and need games in all phases of first reading and writing. Therefore, books that enrich the first reading and writing process, show guidance and have sample applications can be suggested to the primary school teachers. Especially, hands-on trainings to enhance knowledge and skills on game-based education can also be very fruitful.

The article reveals the results of studying Russian national experience and the research and development work of the author devoted to the organizing of learning in mixed-aged groups (MAG) of schoolchildren in different educational establishments, including small rural schools. The author explains the educational potential of such learning, studies the interaction mechanisms, the basic functions of schoolchildren’s learning in mixed-aged groups. To increase the efficiency of learning in a mixed-aged group some principles are recommended, such as the principles of the integration and differentiation of tasks, contents and methods of learning in a mixed-aged group of schoolchildren; the principle of the pedagogization of schoolchildren’s learning activity; the mutual learning principle; the principle of regulating schoolchildren’s interaction; the principle of schoolchildren age range optimality at a lesson in a mixed-aged group; the principles of flexibility, variability, diversity and dynamics. The article examines some concrete ways of these principles realization. The author introduces the ways of schoolchildren’s interaction at different stages of a lesson, and forms of schoolchildren’s joint learning activities in a mixed-aged group.

Social development, the progress of technology, and changing economic forces certainly affect the development of the current educational system. One of the main problems of today’s school system is how to maintain focus, concentration, and interest among students with regards to the learning that takes place during classes. An important feature of modern teaching is multimedia. However, the use of multimedia requires a certain transformation in the teaching process. Given the fact that the focus of the teaching process has been shifting away from the curriculum and the teacher, and towards the student, multimedia will undoubtedly contribute in a significant way to the modernization of traditional teaching. It is not unrealistic to think that technology will become a regular part of the daily routines of teaching. In this work, an innovative approach to teaching mathematics in elementary and high schools through the use of the software known as GeoGebra is introduced. This approach is demonstrated using the example of ‘surface area’ as a mathematical concept, wherein the goal was to increase interactivity between teachers and students, and to improve the quality of teaching.

This study describes the mathematical construction of a real-life model by means of parametric equations, as well as the two- and three-dimensional visualization of the model using the software GeoGebra. The model was initially considered as “determining the parametric equation of the curve formed on a plane by the point of a pen, positioned on an obstacle of height h, during the process of raising the pen vertically to the surface by linearly moving its back-end on the surface.” Firstly a solution was sought for this problem in two dimensions. Based on this problem, two additional sub-problems were formed on a plane, and parametric equations were calculated for these sub-problems as well. The curves formed by these parametric equations were then visualized using GeoGebra. In the second stage, the model was improved, and the parametric equation of the curve formed in the space by the pen point as a result of moving the pen’s back-end along any function was determined. The curve formed by this parametric equation was also visualized using the GeoGebra 3-D environment. It is expected that determining mathematical concepts and relationships based on real-life models with these types of training tasks, as well as jointly considering the algebraic and geometric representations during the process, will improve the students' perceptions relating to mathematics.
