ABSTRACT: Introduction. The unique combination of rheotechnological properties and mechanical performance opens up prospects for the application of self-compacting and high-strength concretes in the manufacturing of base elements for machines and industrial equipment. The processes of adsorption of modern plasticizers on various mineral and polymeric modifiers of concrete mixtures were investigated. The compatibility of nano- and micro-scale mineral additives in composite cementitious binders was determined using calorimetry with an improved semi-adiabatic setup. Materials and methods. The cementitious binders used were CEM 52.5N Portland cement (Asia Cement LLC, Russia) and Nanodur (Germany, Dyckerhoff GmbH); hyperplasticizers included Melflux 1641F, 2651F, 5581F (Germany), PCE TR-6088 (China), Sika ViscoCrete 240 HE Plus and 226-P (Russia); superabsorbent polymer; nano- and micro-scale mineral additives included microsilica MK-85, metacaolin VMK-45, microcalcite MM-315, marshalite Silverbond 15 EW, and ground silica-containing rocks. Selective dissolution, differential thermal analysis, laser granulometry, and semi-adiabatic calorimetry were employed. Results and discussion. The quality of ultrafine mineral additives determines their ability to chemically bind portlandite through pozzolanic activity. Among the investigated additives, microsilica and gaize demonstrated the highest pozzolanic activity. Thermal activation was effective for components consisting of crystalline silica (marshalite, ground quartz sand), resulting in a 25% increase in performance. There was no selective adsorption of hyper plasticizer molecules by superabsorbent modifiers based on sodium polyacrylate compositions. Metakaolin and tremolite exhibited high adsorption to hyper plasticizers among the mineral additives. The rapid evaluation of the influence of formulation factors on the setting of cementitious composites was tested on an improved version of the semi-adiabatic calorimeter. Conclusions. The presence of micro-scale mineral additives based on microsilica in composite cementitious binders enables the development of high-performance concretes adapted for machine building. The study of pozzolanic activity, adsorption capacity, and cumulative heat release curves has indicated the feasibility of replacing microsilica with metacaolin and the potential for its partial blending with finely ground natural gaize. Analysis of the thermal effects accompanying the hydration processes of the "cement-additive-water" system with calorimeters allows us to provide more efficient research on the compatibility of additives in high-performance concrete compositions.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. One of the reasons for coating destruction enclosing structures is the formation of condensate at the boundary of the fence and the finishing layer. As a result of external impact and freezing of moisture in the pores of the plaster coating, a network of small cracks is formed, and it is also possible to peel off the finishing layer. To test this hypothesis, the facades of three different buildings were examined. It is established that all the studied plaster coatings are made on the basis of cement mortar. It is also known that lime mixture is used less often due to the lack of sufficient resistance to moisture. Therefore, there is a need to increase the resistance of coatings based on lime compositions. This can be achieved by introducing an alumosilicate-based modifying additive into it. Materials and methods. Liquid sodium glass, aluminum powder PAP-1 and distilled water were used for the synthesis of the additive. Slaked lime (pushonka) with an activity of 84% was used to prepare test samples. Fritsch particle sizer Analysette 22 was used to analyze the granulometric composition of the additive. Compressive strength was determined on the samples measuring 20×20×20 mm. A testing machine of the type “IR 5057-50” was used for the study of compressive strength of samples. The analysis of rheological properties was determined by the Shvedov-Bingham equation. To study the plastic strength (ultimate shear stress) of the finishing mixture, a conical plastometer KP-3 was used. The plastic viscosity of the composition was determined with a rotary viscometer BCH – 3. Results and discussions. The synthesized additive is a light powder of light gray color with a bulk density of 0.55 ± 0.05 g/cm3. The synthesized additive revealed a high content of oxides Al2O3, SiO2, Na2O respectively, amounting to 51.03%, 36.36%, 11.89%. The additive consists of particles of 100.0–200.0 microns, which make up more than 20% of the total composition. The influence of an aluminosilicate additive on a lime binder on rheological properties was investigated, a slight increase in static shear stress was revealed, respectively, an increase in the percentage of the additive. The value of the dynamic shear stress increases significantly with an additive content of more than 10%. Conclusions. The regularities of hardening of a lime binder with a nanostructured additive based on amorphous aluminosilicates are established, and the optimal content of an aluminosilicate additive in the amount of 10% by weight of lime is determined.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. The simplest and most common method of obtaining fine mineral powder is mechanical dispersion. In the process of grinding the material went through some work (energy), which is spent on the formation of a new surface. Therefore, it is not always clear whether the destruction of the crystal lattice of a solid lead to the activation of the resulting crushed material. Thus, the key characteristics of finely dispersed mineral powders, by which activation processes can be judged, are the value of the specific surface area (Ssp) and the specific free surface energy, numerically equal to the surface tension (σ) of the solid. Therefore, a number of models based on the determination of these characteristics have been proposed to estimate the mechanical activation process of the raw material. So, one of the most correct methods, in our opinion, is the method based on an energy approach to the evaluation of mechanical activation processes. This model determines the relative change in the free surface energy (ΔES/ES0) of the material when obtaining a dispersed system. At the same time, the choice of the most effective raw materials for obtaining composite binders can be carried out on the basis of the surface activity criterion (ks), which is used as a criterion characterizing the reactivity of fine mineral powders after their mechanical disintegration. Therefore, the aim of this study was to calculate the relative change in the surface energy of fine mineral powders of various raw materials and to identify possible functional relationship between the parameter ΔES/ES0 and the amount of surface activity for the studied rock systems. Methods and Materials. Sedimentary rocks formations the Arkhangelsk region were selected as materials for the research: polymineral sand and saponite-containing material (a representative of bentonite clays). Before conducting experiments, rock samples were brought to a constant mass at a temperature of 105о С. The chemical composition of the samples was determined on an X-ray fluorescence analyzer “Metexpert”. Highly dispersed rock fractions were obtained by dry grinding on a planetary ball mill Retsch PM100. The dimensional characteristics were determined using the DelsaNano submicron particle size analyzer by photon correlation spectroscopy. The specific surface area was determined by the gas permeability method on the PSX-10 device. To calculate the surface tension, the edge angle was measured on the “Easy Drop” installation. The surface tension for highly dispersed samples was calculated by the OWRK method. Results and Discussion. The calculated macro-energy characteristics of the studied samples have showed that the atomization energy for polymineral sand was 1910.72 kJ/mol, and for saponite–containing material was 1826.94 kJ/mol. At the same time, the mass specific atomization energy for sand and SCM are 30.41●103 kJ/kg and 26.94●103 kJ/kg, respectively. In the process of dispersion, several fractions of highly dispersed rock powders were obtained, which are characterized by an average particle size and specific surface area. The surface tension (and its components) calculated by the OWRK method showed that for all the samples studied, the polarization effect (σSP) prevails over the dispersion interaction (σSD). At the same time, as Ssp increases, the numerical value of the ratio σSP/σSD increases. This indicates an increase in the number of active surface centers associated with the redistribution of the energy potential of the system. The calculated values of free surface energy (ЕS), surface activity (ks) and the relative change in free surface energy showed, that ks and ΔES/ES0 increase as the duration of powder dispersion increases.The obtained functional dependences ks = f(ΔES/ES0) for the studied samples of polymineral sand and saponitecontaining material are linear in nature and obey the general equation у = a●x + b. In this case, the coefficient “a” characterizes the dynamics of changes in the reactivity of the material with an increase in the duration of mechanical grinding, and the parameter “b” – reactivity in the microstate. Comparison of the coefficients “a” of the studied dispersed systems showed that, unlike polymineral sand, the reactivity of saponitecontaining material increases 1.5 times faster as the grinding duration increases. The obtained functional relationship between the criteria used for evaluating the process of mechanical activation of mineral raw materials of various natures shows the correctness of the models used. Conclusion. The calculated macro-energy characteristics of rock samples showed that the atomization energy for polymineral sand and saponitecontaining material has similar values. To assess the effectiveness of the process of mechanical activation for mineral raw materials, it is proposed to use the relative change in free surface energy or surface activity. A functional relationship between above mentioned criteria has been established, which is characterized by a linear dependence

ABSTRACT: Introduction. In the binary dispersed systems of different origins (mineral and polymer) with particles differing in size by an order of magnitude, heterocoagulation is observed. Regulation of the aggregate stability is crucial in controlling the properties of functional dispersed materials based on such mixed dispersions. This study focuses on the investigation of waterborne mono and binary dispersions of polyvinyl acetate, Portland cement, and chalk by means of static laser light scattering and optical microscopy. Materials and research methods. In order to investigate the action mechanism of the FF modifier based on phloroglucinol furfural oligomers as disperse phase we used chalk (CaCO3 – chalk dispersed technical MTD-2, LLC “Technostroy”, Kopanishchenskoe deposit), Portland cement CEM I 42.5N (JSC “Belgorod Cement”), and polyvinyl acetate (LLC “Kuban-Polymer”). Particle distribution and the aggregate stability of dispersions were studied with an Analysette 22 NanoTecplus device. The particle sizes were determined by optical microscopy with “Axio.Scope.A.1” microscope, and the adsorption of oligomers on the particles of dispersions was analyzed using a UV spectrometer (SPECORD UV). Results and discussion. It has been established that the phloroglucinol furfural modifier contributes to the stabilization of binary polymer-mineral dispersions. Integral and differential distribution curves of polymeric particles have been obtained in a wide range of 0.01–2100 µm. Research has shown the regularity of the modal diameter reduction of adsorption-modified particles with a transition from a narrow to a wider distribution with the absence of large coagulums. Conclusion. The hypothesis has been proposed that the adsorption-solvation factor of aggregate stability makes a significant contribution to the aggregate stability of binary polymer-mineral dispersions. The impact of this factor is different for mono-mineral and binary polymer-mineral dispersions and depends on the hydrophilicity of the surface, increases with the transition from mineral surface to the polymer surface as the Hamaker constant increases.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. The use of liquid crystals is attractive for solving technical problems when creating a new generation of monitors, pressure sensors, seismic activity, determining the level of dry or liquid media, indicators of the concentration of harmful substances due to the small size of devices, low power consumption, simple design, low cost, and easy controllability of liquid crystals by various external fields. Under the action of mechanical shear, the liquid crystal layer is deformed, as a result of which surface polarization occurs. The purpose of the research is to conduct an experimental study of the effect of an electric field on flexopolarization occurring in a thin layer of a liquid crystal to create an acousto-optic shutter. Materials and methods. Nematic liquid crystals 10 – 100 µm thick with homeotropic orientation of molecules were used as materials: n – methoxybenzylidene n – butylaniline; 4 – octyl – 4 – cyanobiphenyl; nitrophenyloctyloxybenzoate; cyanophenyl ester of heptylbenzoic acid. Methods. The experimental setup consisted of a charge-sensitive amplifier with a high input resistance of 10 GΩ and a selective amplifier (2 MΩ). The design of the amplifier made it possible to apply a constant voltage of up to 100 V to its input, as well as linear and synchronous signal detections, which were then fed to the ADC that recorded them. Results and discussion. The behavior of charges induced on the surface of a liquid crystal due to internal mechanisms of molecular-orientation polarization was considered as a function of the magnitude and direction of the external electric field. For this, a liquid-crystal layer (MBBA) was placed in an electric field. The dependences of the first U1ω and second U2ω harmonics, when a positive potential is applied to a deformable plate, reach lower values than with a negative one. The electric field at a positive potential stabilizes the molecules of the polarized layer, and at a negative potential it makes it less stable, which leads in one case to a decrease in the slope angle on the surface, and in the other to an increase, which leads to an increase in the second harmonic. Under weak boundary conditions, a polar deformation occurs in the bulk of the NLC. When the field is applied to the homeotropic layer of NLC (CPEHBA), the value of the second harmonic U2ω increases linearly from the voltage Uc up to the achievement of “saturation”, which is due to an increase in the stabilizing dielectric moment over the viscoelastic one. At low fields (Е ≤ 104 V/cm), the value of U2ω first increases and then decreases due to an increase in the tilt angle of the director relative to the normal to the surface. At low polarizing voltages Uc ≤ 15 V (CPEHBA) dependence U1ω is approximated by a power function of the Uc3 type, at Uc >> 15 V the second harmonic U2ω depends as Uc–1. At low bias voltages, the position of the minima of the values of the first U1ω and second U2ω harmonics (for MBBA and CPEHBA) does not coincide with the zero point along the abscissa at Uc = 0. The harmonics U1ω and U2ω have a maximum when a positive potential is applied to the moving electrode. In the region of positive displacement voltages, the molecules stabilize, while at negative voltages, the molecules are less resistant to orientational perturbations. The value of the second harmonic U2ω sharply decreases with the perturbation frequency. Conclusion. The obtained research results can be used in the development of pressure sensors, seismic sensors for buildings and structures, light modulators, as well as an acoustooptic switch for glass units

ABSTRACT: Introduction. The current stage of the construction industry and building materials science development involves the introduction and widespread application of nano- and fine particles capable of improving the properties of traditional materials. However, it is necessary to provide stabilization of nano- and fine-dispersed components in the cement system. Plasticizing additives can be used as stabilizers. It is important to set their concentration. Therefore, the purpose of this study is outlined, which lays in the methodological substantiation the stabilizing effect of various types of plasticizers on the suspension of fine synthetic bismuth titanate used in the modification of cement systems, and the establishment of the limits of their optimal concentrations. Materials and methods. The research is aimed at establishing the limits of optimal concentrations of polycarboxylate and sulfonaphthalene formaldehyde plasticizers. The limits of plasticizers optimal concentrationsis determined withdye solubilization method, surface tension and conductometric methods, and studies on establishing the stabilizing effect of plasticizers on a bismuth titanate fine particles suspension. Results and discussion. To establish the limits of the optimal concentration capable of stabilizing fine particles of bismuth titanate in suspension, CMC is determined by the dye solubilization method, surface tension and conductometric methods. It is found that a polycarboxylate plasticizer is characterized by one CMC point, and a sulfonaphthalinformaldehyde plasticizer is characterized by two CMC points: CMC1 and CMC2. At CMC1 point unstable spherical micelles are formed, which turn into stable ones at the CMC2 point. At concentrations exceeding the CMC2 value, polymorphic transformations of spherical micelles into nonspherical asymmetric micelles occur. The same can be traced for the polycarboxylate plasticizer CMC only in one stage. It can also be concluded that it is not reasonable to increase the plasticizer concentration above CMC for polycarboxylate plasticizer and above CMC2 for sulfonaphthalinformaldehyde plasticizer, which is due to structural changes in the micelles of plasticizers. It is assumed that in order to stabilize bismuth titanate fine particles, it is necessary to choose the plasticizers concentration within the limits not exceeding the values of CMC for polycarboxylate plasticizer and CMC2 for sulfonaphthalinformaldehyde plasticizer. Conclusion. Concluding results demonstrate the limits of optimal plasticizers concentrations for the stabilization of bismuth titanate fine particles suspension. For polycarboxylate plasticizer this range of concentrations is 1.1 – 1.5 g/l; for sulfonaphthalinformaldehyde plasticizer its 2.2 – 4.0 g/l.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. The aim of the work is to determine the influence of the structure of the filter materials formed as a result of modification of the surface layer on their water permeability and the size of trapped solid particles. Materials and methods. The non-woven fabrics from a mixture of polyethylene-terephthalate (PET) (70 wt.%) and bicomponent fibers (BCF) of the coreshell structure were used as objects of the study. The non-woven fabrics were obtained by mechanically forming the canvas with its subsequent hardening by needle punching. The resulting materials were modified by heat treatment. The water transfer in the modified materials was determined by the permeability coefficient. The filtration efficiency was determined by the number of trapped particles of a certain size. Results and discussion. The needle-punched non-woven fabrics without additional heat treatment are not suitable for water filtration. The proposed method of thermal and deformation-thermal modification provides the production of gradient materials with a controlled thickness of the nanoscale surface layer. Although a decrease in water permeability is observed, the modified material traps solid particles with a smaller (compared to unmodified ~ 20 µm) equivalent diameter of 2–4 µm, which is sufficient to prepare water for use in steam generators and in the production of building materials. Conclusion. The optimal parameters of deformation-heat treatment for obtaining the high-effective filtration non-woven materials were established: the temperature – 180оC, the processing speed – 3.5 m/min.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. In connection with the growing demand for living and working conditions in civil and industrial construction, there is an increasing need for high-quality building materials with the required set of performance properties. Polymer reinforced composite materials are promising materials in the construction industry due to their high strength, durability, reliability and economy. Polymers such as polyvinyl chloride, polyurethanes, polyacrylates, epoxy resins, polypropylene are used in construction for the manufacture of decorative elements, self-leveling floors, coatings for appliances and equipment. However, the use of polymeric materials creates risks of electric shock due to the generation of static charge. The use of electrically conductive nanomaterials as fillers makes it possible to reduce the resistivity of polymeric materials and slow down the flow of electric charges. Main part. This review article presents the benefits and drawbacks of antistatic additives for polymer materials used in industry and in the construction industry. Conclusion. An analysis of the literature has shown that over the past seven years, the largest number of relevant papers has been devoted to carbon materials as antistatic additives (8 articles), metal and metal oxide nanoparticles (7 articles), ionic liquids (7 articles), and polyaniline (7 articles). The most studied characteristics of antistatic polymer materials are the specific surface RS and volume RV resistances. According to the reviewed articles, metal and metal oxide nanoparticles are the most suitable antistatic additives to polymeric materials, since they are well dispersed in the polymer matrix. However, further research is needed to eliminate the negative effect of nanoparticles on the mechanical properties of polymeric materials

ABSTRACT: Introduction. Phenols and petroleum products are common wastewater contaminants in many industries. Due to their persistence and toxicity in the natural environment, an efficient waste disposal technology is needed. Ozonation in the presence of heterogeneous catalysts is one of the advanced methods for treating wastewater from these toxicants. Since most catalysts are expensive, they are being sought on the basis of transition metals and their oxides, which have high activity and relatively low cost. In this regard, the Scientific and Educational Center for Innovative Technologies (SECIT) of USPTU carried out work on the search for an effective and affordable catalyst for the deep oxidation of phenol and petroleum products in wastewater under the influence of ozone. Methods and materials. To study catalytic ozonation, we used model waste water containing phenol and oil products at concentrations of 8 and 30 mg/dm3, respectively. Ozonation was carried out in the presence of fresh (1) and spent (2) NiO–MoO3 catalyst deposited in the form of a film on cylindrical Al2O3 granules weighing 0.5 – 2 g. Results. Optimal conditions of ozonation have been found (1), within 10 min of the decomposition process in its presence, COD decreased by 25% compared to the oxidation process with a catalyst (2), and by 40% compared to classical ozonolysis. It was found that the optimal loading of catalyst (1) is 1 g, duration is 35 min, pH = 8.5, temperature – 22 – 30оC, ozone dose – 5 g/dm3. Discussion. At catalyst dosages of less than 1 g/dm3, the low efficiency of removing phenol and hydrocarbons is probably due to a lack of the adsorption surface of the catalyst. Conclusion. The studied method of purification allows to reduce the content of phenol and oil products to the standard indicator of drinking water quality (0.001 and 0.05 mg/dm3, respectively), COD by 96% and solve the problem of the harmful effects of these toxicants on ecosystems.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. At present, the use of polymer coatings in the protection of metallic materials and structures is becoming popular in the construction industry. It is especially important to obtain nanostructured polymer insulating materials with high anticorrosive properties in order to ensure the service life of the equipment of the fuel and energy complex. Technological equipment during the extraction, transportation, processing of petrochemical raw materials is subject to regular exposure to aggressive environments. Damage to production equipment causes annual environmental damage and human health and material burden on the enterprise. The introduction of heteroatoms into the structure of the polymer molecule helps to improve the physico-chemical characteristics of polymer coatings, in particular, to increase the protective properties, since natural and synthetic polymer compounds represent a large cluster of supramolecular structures located in a certain sequence. Methods and materials. A technology has been developed for obtaining new polymeric nanostructured alkenylsuccinimides with anticorrosive properties, which can be used as part of lubricating coatings in various industries, including construction. Alkenylsuccinimides were tested according to TS 38101147-77 for succinimide additives and showed compliance with their standards TS 38101247-77. Results and discussions. In the course of the research a resource-saving non-waste technology of obtaining a nanostructured polymer additive with polyamines as a nanostructuring base to provide an anticorrosive effect has been developed. Conclusion. The obtained compounds based on triethylenetetramine, tetraethylenepentamine, alkenylsuccinic anhydride can be used as effective polymeric anticorrosion additives in the processing of metal materials and structures in the construction industry.

ABSTRACT. Introduction. Impregnation with a new solution based on potassium polysulfide showed excellent results in the hydrophobization of cement stone and cement-sand mortar due to the formation of a nanoscale water-repellent coating on the surface of the pores from sulfur nanoparticles formed as a result of the destruction of the molecule during the drying process. An innovative solution based on potassium polysulfide refers to polysulfur compounds, from which, as a result of the destruction of polysulfide molecules, a nanoscale layer of sulfur particles is formed on the surface. Materials and research methods. Potassium polysulfide solutions of different densities were used for impregnation; the properties of the solutions were tested on cubic samples with a 40 mm edge, made on the basis of cement and cement-sand mortar. Particle characteristics were evaluated using a laser particle size analyzer, an electron microscope and a diffractometer. Results. The analysis showed that the average size of the particles forming the protective coating is 20 nm, they have a spherically symmetric shape and crystallize into an orthorhombic crystal lattice structure. The treatment of concrete with a solution of potassium polysulfide ensures the formation of a coating based on nanosized sulfur on the surface of the pores of the stone, which partially fills the pore space and, being hydrophobic, reduces the water absorption of samples by 2–3 times, and the water absorption of samples impregnated under vacuum for 0.5 hours, decreases to values of 1.3–1.9%. Results and discussion. Modification of concrete with an impregnating composition developed by us with a solution based on potassium polysulfide The impregnating solution based on potassium polysulfide is stable in the concentration range of 1.15–1.35 g/cm3; upon impregnation, it penetrates into the pore structure of concrete at a level of up to 4 cm or more, depending on the growth and structure of the sample. When the material dries in its pores, sulfur nanoparticles crystallize from the polysulfide solution, partially filling the pore space and forming a protective durable insoluble hydrophobic coating that makes it difficult for water to penetrate into the pores of concrete, but retains its vapor permeability, which is important for wall and facing materials. Conclusions. Impregnation of road building materials and concrete products with a composition based on potassium polysulfide improves their performance properties, increases durability and resistance to weathering, which makes it possible to recommend it for use in the climatic conditions of the Russian Federation.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. The aim of the research is to study the compressibility of composite materials obtained by varying the degree of impregnation of a non-woven needle-punched cloth with an aqueous dispersion of polyurethane. Materials and research methods. Non-woven needle-punched cloth made of polyethylene terephthalate fibers (TU 6-13-0204077-95-91) with a linear density of 0.33 tex (diameter 20–25 microns) was used as objects of research. For impregnation, an aqueous dispersion of anionic stabilized aliphatic polyethiruretane of the brand IMPRANIL DL 1380 (PRC) with a dry residue of 40% was used. The ompressibility of canvases and composite materials was established using the ICH indicator according to GOST 577-68 with an accuracy of measuring the thickness of ± 0.001 mm. Results and discussion. An approach is proposed to establish the relationship between the degree of compressibility of composite materials and the load and to obtain an equation for predicting the degree of compressibility of composite materials from the degree of impregnation and load. ABSTRACT: Introduction. In the article the use of powder elastomeric modifier capable of rapid breakdown into micro- and nanofragments upon contact with hot bitumen to improve the low-temperature properties of bitumen is presented. The indicators of resistance to cracking are determined by various methods and their dependence on the thermal history of the samples. Methods and Materials. At temperatures up to –36о C the oscillatory rheological tests (4-mm DSR test) of RTFO-aged samples of bitumen BND 60/90 and modified binder (MB) which contain the active powder of discretely devulcanized rubber (APDDR) produced by high-temperature shear-induced grinding from the crumb rubber of worn tires have been conducted. MB was prepared by mixing bitumen (3 min; 160о C and 600 rpm) with 12.5 wt.% APDDR. Results and Discussion. The effect of the test parameters on the rheological parameters has been studied. Structural transitions in bitumen and MB by methods of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and the cracking temperature of the same samples in static conditions in the ABCD test were detected. It is revealed: a decrease in the temperature of actual cracking of the MB sample compared to bitumen. Conclusion. It is shown that APDDR as a modifier affects the structure of bitumen and reduces the temperature sensitivity of bitumen to external influences.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. This article describes the results of the destruction processes studies of stable emulsion suspension sludge systems, conducted by the authors. Destruction processes are achieved by adding nanoparticles to demulsifying compositions. Currently, there is no universal composition demulsifier that effectively destroys emulsions formed in oil sludges. Research methods. To deal with this issues, the authors have conducted research on the creation of an effective demulsifier containing nanosized particles of fullerenes. The studies were carried out with dispersed oil-slurry emulsion-suspension systems, selected from open storage ponds of enterprises of JSC «Tatoilgaz» and JSC «TAIF-NK». For the destruction of the oil-containing system of the emulsion-suspension type, a composite mixture of complex action has been developed, which includes anionic wetting agents, nonionic surfactants, flotation reagents, detergents and alkaline buffer solutions that provide the required value of a constant indicator of the acid-base balance of the aqueous medium. Results and its discussion. A composite demulsifying mixture of complex action, which increases the effectiveness of the wetting washing action of surfactants, namely, the diphilic structure of the dispersed medium changes to hydrophilic, that is, the contacts of particles having a monophilic surface with the hydrocarbon phase of the emulsion medium are broken. When particles pass into the water volume from the phase separation boundary, the layer on the surface of the emulsified water is destroyed. The dehydration time of petroleum products is reduced by almost 2 times. Conclusion. During the research, the intensification and increase of the efficiency have been successfully reached.

ABSTRACT: Metal dots-nitrogen-carbon catalysts have become a hot topic in recent years because of special coordination environment. Herein, for the study the W nanodots and nitrogen co-decorated carbon skeleton (W@NC) was prepared for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). In particular, NaCl templates not only restrict the growth of nanodots, but also improve the purity of phase. By optimizing the feeding ratio of ammonium metatungstate, W nanodots (the size is about 1.2 ± 0.6 nm) dispersed well on N-doped C skeleton, and this special structure could effectively promote electron transfer and ion diffusion during HER process. As a result, the optimized W@NC hybrids exhibited excellent HER performance in alkaline media with a rather low over-potential (228 mV at 10 mA cm–2) and outstanding durability over 10 h.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. We studied the effect of nanosized silicon dioxide (SiO2 ) on the structural and technological characteristics of nanomodified cement compositions introduced together with activated mixing water. Materials and research methods. Activation of mixing water was carried out by means of magnetic field and ultrasonic action. For investigation the capability to maintain their properties for a long time, the stability of silica suspensions in activated water was studied. For finding out the effect of activated silica suspensions on the structure and properties of composite materials based on cement, the physical and mechanical properties of the studied compositions were explored. X-ray and differential thermal analysis of the hardened activated nanomodified cement paste were also carried out. Results and discussion. The positive role of the suspension of silicon dioxide in activated water was associated with a decrease in the microheterogeneity of the hardened cement paste, ensuring the stability of its physical and mechanical characteristics. Based on the above mentioned observations, a mechanism was proposed for more efficient incorporation of nanosized silicon dioxide into cement hydration processes both due to chemisorption with Ca(OH)2 in the hardening cement paste and due to the topological effect of nanoparticle localization in defects and ultramicrovoids of a crystallizing disperse system. Conclusion. The results show that suspensions of silica in activated water can maintain their properties for a long time. Graphical dependencies are shown, indicating the effectiveness of the use of activated silica suspensions in the production of cement composites. This quality makes it possible to obtain repair compounds with the required properties during construction work for various purposes.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. Polymer-bitumen binders are innovative nano-binders for asphalt concrete pavement. Introduction of a polymer modifier improves the characteristics of bitumen and asphalt concrete. The use of waste tires rubber for bitumen modification is considered to be an environmentally friendly solution, but it is limited due to the poor cosite of rubber with bitumen. Various methods based on activation of the rubber surface, dispersion of rubber to nanosized particles, and thermochemical transformations of rubber into individual organic compounds are known to overcome this limitation. Methods and materials. The method of joint pyrolysis of rubber with oxygen-containing oil under pressure is proposed to be used for converting it into a nanostructural bitumen modifier. The resulting product is studied by the methods of thermogravimetry, NMR-spectroscopy, chromatomasspectrometry, scanning electron microscopy and solubility in toluene. Results and discussion. It has been established that during joint pyrolysis rubber undergoes devulcanization, cracking and dispersion to nanosized particles, and as a result the product becomes compatible with bitumen. Thermochemical reprocessing of waste automobile tires can be considered to be a promising method for the production of a nanostructured bitumen modifier. Conclusion. The use of thermochemical pressure treatment of waste tire rubber in the presence of oxygen-containing oil makes it possible to obtain a nanostructured product compatible with bitumen for further use of the resulting modifier in the production of asphalt concrete

ABSTRACT: Introduction. The article presents the results of studies of the effect of complex additive based on glyoxal on the properties of cement-based foam concrete mix and foam concrete of natural hardening. The relevance of the study is determined by the necessity to provide the required process parameters of mixture for transportation and laying the formwork, as well as providing strength and thermal and physical characteristics of wall structures for the development of the northern regions of Russia, including the Arctic zone. It has been proposed to decrease the shrinkage deformations of the concrete mix and increase compressive strength of hardened foam concrete by affecting the cement matrix with complex modifier based on glyoxal. Materials and methods. The effect of modifying additives on the properties of the foam concrete mixture and foam concrete was studied at a W/S mixture ratio of 0.45. Research has been carried out using test methods set out in national standards. The results of the study of the effect of complex modifying additives (CMA) based on an aqueous solution of glyoxal and organic acids on the rheological and strength properties of foam concrete are presented, the regularities of the processes and the mechanism of structure formation of the modified foam concrete are determined. Results. The use of modifying additives leads to increase result in increasing the aggregative stability and reducing the plastic shrinkage of the foam concrete mix by 22–70%. In foam concrete with the complex additive LA 0.5% + Gl 0.55% the compressive strength rises from 1.96 to 2.43 MPa at the age of 28 days while maintaining the average density of D600. The thermal conductivity coefficient of foam concrete modified with various additives decreased by 5–30% compared to references. Conclusions. The obtained results of the study create in the construction industry the basis for the import substitution of modifying additives on the domestic mineral resource base and the production of effective structural and heatinsulating concretes for the development of the northern regions of Russia.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is one of the most important polymers in the economy. Due to its versatility, this material is now found in a wide variety of products used in everyday life. A wide range of physical and mechanical properties is given to it by the use of additives, the main of which are plasticizers. The most common in terms of consumption are orthophthalic acid esters, in particular, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), dioctyl phthalate (DOP), diisononyl phthalate (DINP), diisodecyl phthalate (DIDP). Phthalates are well combined with polymers, give them high physical and mechanical properties, therefore plastic compounds based on them are widely used in the construction sector, engineering, as well as in agriculture and in everyday life. Numerous studies of products made from plasticized PVC, conducted in different countries, have established the adverse effects of DOP on human health, which led to the limitation of its areas of application. Legislative bans and growing consumer pressure are forcing PVC compound manufacturers to look for an environmentally friendly replacement for DOP. Methods and materials. In this research work, the possibility of creating more environmentally friendly PVC compounds using a mixture of plasticizers: industrial dioctyl phthalate and diisononyl phthalate and dibutoxyethyl phthalate (DBOEP) developed by us was studied. The choice of the plasticizers is based on the fact that DINP and DBOEP, in contrast to dioctyl phthalate, belong to the 3rd hazard class. Results and discussion. In the course of the correlation-regression analysis, a close functional relationship was obtained between the additives used and the characteristics of PVC, which was confirmed by the calculated coefficient of determination. Using the method of nonlinear programming applied to the constructed third-order polynomial dependencies, it was found that in the basic PVC composition formulation it is promising to replace up to 25 wt.h. DOP on DINP plasticizer. The joint use of industrial plasticizers DOP and DINP, as well as the developed DBOEP in the formulation of PVC compositions, indicates an increase in plasticity and manufacturability. This can probably be explained by the synergistic effect of the studied plasticizers. The dependence of the properties and content of plasticizers DBOEP and DINP in the form of a second-order surface was studied on the basis of the obtained experimental data, the level lines of the constructed function of two variables were studied, as a result of which it was found that the greatest effect is achieved at a dosage of: DOP – 25 wt.h., DINP – 5 wt.h. and DBOEF – 20 wt.h. Conclusion. The obtained research results show that the proposed formulation of the PVC composition makes it possible to reduce the toxicity of the plasticizers used by 50 % and improve the physical, mechanical and technological characteristics of the compounds.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. Heavy metals (copper, zinc, nickel, lead, chromium, cobalt, cadmium) get into constructional materials with natural and man-made raw materials. The chemical and mineralogical composition of large-tonnage wastes from the petrochemical industry is perfect for constructional materials production. Heavy metals in constructional compositions provide high strength and frost resistance. Currently, nanostructured metal-containing complexes are used in the production of mortars. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure the reliable binding of heavy metals into structurally stable compounds to avoid their emission and secondary environmental pollution. The steadily growing volumes of sludge reservoirs with high concentrations of heavy metals such as chromium (Cr +6), copper (+2), lead (+2), iron (+2), and Fe (+3) cause particular interest to researchers. Qualified extraction of the listed metals and binding them as nanocomponents in the composition of the complexing agent will ensure the creation of a nanostructural composition in the recipe for the preparation of mortar for various purposes. Methods and materials. Sorption methods are the main way to isolate heavy metals. The paper proposes a method for the production of alkyleneaminopolycarboxylic acids and studies its ability to form nanometallic complex compounds for the extraction of heavy metals. Results and discussions. In order to bind metal nanoparticles in oil sludge, the efficiency of the produced compounds, carboxymethyl derivatives of hexamine, was investigated. Optimum synthesis conditions were selected and the structure of the obtained complexing agents was proved by infrared and ultraviolet radiation methods as well as by the method of nuclear magnetic resonance. Conclusion. The resulting nanostructured additions have binding properties that provide high adhesion of the heavy metal to the organic substrate and mortar components, which makes it possible to provide a strong composition that maintains operational properties that meet technical requirements.

ABSTRACT: Introduction. Liquid crystal as a nanomaterial has found application in science, engineering and technologies. The unique physical properties of liquid crystals make them sensitive to external influences. The article presents the results of an experimental study of the flexoelectric effect in a liquid crystal, when shear deformations occur, thin layers of which can serve as an optical shutter for the stained glass windows of buildings. Materials and methods. Nematic liquid crystals with a homeotropic orientation of molecules 10÷100 µm thick were used by the birefringence method. Shear frequency 1 kHz. Methods. The experimental cell was assembled from two glass plates in the form of a flat capacitor, spacers were placed between the glasses, which set the sample thickness. A source of shear vibrations was located on the side of the microscope stage, which was connected to the LC cell using a thin waveguide. Results and discussion. According to the geometry of the problem, the director is headed vertically parallel to the Z axis, the velocity vector of the plate vibrations is horizontal along the X axis. The orientation of the liquid crystal molecules in the volume is characterized by the angle θ. An elastic-viscous wave propagates between the moving and stationary substrates of the LC cell, which leads to a perturbation of the initial homeotropic orientation of the director field. The dependences of the first and second harmonics of the shear-induced EMF, as well as the optical signal, on the plate oscillation speed are obtained. They have a threshold nature of occurrence at a critical speed υc ~8 mm/s, while the liquid crystal molecules are oriented at an angle θс . The temperature dependences of EMF harmonics far from the nematic – isotropic liquid phase transition showed that when approaching the phase transition, the regression of the signal U1ω stops, and then its value increases up to the temperature transition of the nematic – isotropic state TNI. The magnitude of the optical signal I 2ω/I o (T), approaching the phase transition, increases, which is explained by the increase in the amplitude of the director oscillation Θd . Conclusion. The article considers the flexoelectric effect observed in thin layers of nematic liquid crystals with homeotropic orientation of molecules placed between two glass plates. The occurrence of the effect has a threshold character, the critical strain rate is about 8 mm/s. The conditions and parameters of the effect (shear amplitude, sample temperature) on a condenser cell for various liquid crystals are considered. It is proposed to use the results obtained to create an optical shutter (shutter) for stained glass windows or windows of buildings and structures.
