This paper is a review of the Computerized Adaptive Testing Process. Unlike conventional tests, these assessments propose a test adapted to every examinee’s needs and capabilities, which results in a better experience for those assessed and a more accurate score. Adaptive assessments are based on item response theory, which defines the guidelines and conditions for such tests to be carried out. From this theory, different models that allow the repositioning of different traits of the examinees and their relationship with the probability to succeed in a given item, arise. To complete the assessment process, an adaptive test should consist of a set of items, a method which allows the selection of these and a termination criterion. All the aforementioned components articulate the test and help to properly materialize it.

This research presents a descriptive-explaining study about the impact of the implementation of a virtual learning object in the acquisition of basic knowledge about Wi-Fi wireless networks, carried out with eleventh grade students of an educational institution. The research adopts a quantitative method, contemplating a quasi-experimental, ex post facto, transactional design. A questionnaire was administrated to the students in a first moment to measure their basic knowledge on Wi-Fi, and the again after the implementation to analyze the changes. The quantitative data obtained from the application of the proposed instrument, were treated from a descriptive and correlation analysis. The conclusions presented the positive impact of the implementation of the virtual learning object in acquiring basic knowledge about Wi-Fi wireless networks, raising the need to control extraneous variables in the study.

This paper focuses on the impact and the significance, people older tan 65 years old have in relation with public spaces, in La Prosperitat neighborhood (Barcelona). A qualitative methodology to identify the different perceptions and opinions related to the physical and existing spaces. La Prosperitat neighborhood residents describe it as a big social cohesiveness and a high sense of belonging community, which is transmitted from generation to generation, concerned about how to improve the qua- lity of life of its inhabitants. As a conclusion, it is highlighted the need to generate interdisciplinary researches that aims to study the relation of the human being with his inhabited environment, and generate architectural, urban and social proposals more according to the reality.

This article discloses the possibility that Physical Education class can bring as a promoter of healthy lifestyles in an educational context. The outcome of the research was that, through the construction of a methodological framework, we structured, apply and analyze some activities in physical education class related to healthy at- titudes and behaviors in the categories of self-esteem, self-concept, self-control, healthy diet and physical activity. This paper focus on the complex concept of the social representations considered as reference in order to understand the way low income children in a school construct the representation of violence. The school was taken as stage of meeting and deve- lopment for boys and girls, since in this place, it is possible to observe their behavior in a group with children like them and to find out about other spaces those children have experimented the violence. This qualitative research aims to approach the ways of childlike thought in order to identify the principal elements of their knowledge and attitude opposite to the violence, as well as to trace their principal sources of information.

This paper focuses on violence against women, which has taken a growing public visibility in Argentina. Its greatest abomination has a regional story in Ciudad Juarez. There, a fi ction of peace violence is exhibited obscenely (Žižek, 2004). This paper aims to change these questions, contextualizing and asking about the phenomenon related to “long patriarchal history”, based on related studies, in order to understand naturalization and legitimization of violence against women, it explores its symbolic effi cacy. Significant contributions of formal equality between genders thanks to the struggle of organized women have been made in contemporary societies, but gender inequality between men and women is still evident. The review of structural processes consider both the social and intra-psychological life, becomes essential to analyze the causes that explain the survival of the subordination of women, with the dominant mode of production and geopolitical location. This raises the need to review the construction and operation of the myth of romantic love and fetishizes justifying an unequal exchange of affection and care between genders. In the division sex-social of labor, it makes it as a servile and hegemonic practice. Also it is an practice, that ensures –to a greater or lesser extent– the oppression of women, according to the variables such as ethnicity and class. This analysis aims to show the mechanisms of action of this myth and alternatives to deconstruct the theory and practice.

This paper focuses on the importance of studies about organizational communication emphasizing on language and discourses within the organizations. This paper aims to understand the dynamic of subjective-symbolic construction, which allows having consensus and establishing differences between individuals. It rescues gender perspective as a category of trans-disciplinary analysis, which shows the symbolic order and power relationship established between men and women expressed in a particular language. It preserves the importance of studying elements of organizational communication, such as rites and rituals, as well as its relationship to the social symbolic order in which the discourse unfolds.

This paper has the purpose of making a critical refl ection about heterosexuality as a political category of social control imposed by patriarchy through established discourses from dominant powers. With the construction of a wide variety of sexual identities, it is possible to break the power relationship. It is considered a political act to subvert the established power, which perpetuates and maintains heterosexuality as the only model. Judith Butler invites us to perform a courageous act and true exercise of freedom, transcending the gender.

This research paper aims to study and document the migration process of Colombian women, who were living in Huelva (Spain) at the time of this research. This study is based on two analytical methods. One shows the migration strategies of these women, the other shows the infl uence of their migration towards the current economical crisis in Spain. The methodology chosen for this research was a qualitative one, from the semi-structured interviews of ten female Colombian inhabitants of the city. In their life stories, they spun a migratory web explaining their reasoning for leaving and staying in Spain. They also suggested different strategies to respond to the current period of economic crisis in the host country.

This research paper aims to identify typology and prejudice based on information using a group of Spanish people who live in Almería (Spain), in relation to a group of Colombian immigrants. In order to support this information, sixteen women and fourteen men who responded to Pettigrew & Meertens Scale (1995), and adapted by Rueda et al. (1995) and Rueda & Navas (1996), were used as a sample. The answers, based on gender perspective, showed that more than half of the total men and women are presented in the same proportion as “egalitarian”. The rest of the people, six Spanish males and four Spanish females, presented subtle prejudice towards Colombians. So, in this research project neither women, nor men can be identifi ed as “fanatic”. The results also are controversial in relation with the ones found in other studies.

In this work, the social construction of femininity is revealed during this period, which has the intention to position the work of one of the most prominent woman of this period, sister Juana Ines de la Cruz. Reviewing the models and the constructions of being female is transcendental if we want to understand the social cultural and political context lived by this author; she is considered as a literate and thinkers from this time when the right to educate was denied to women, and to censor and silence them when they transgressed the public space, mainly male.

A quasi-experimental study conducted with tenth grade of Institución Educativa Distrital (IED) San José from Barranquilla. To develop it, it was an experimental group and a control group with proof of equivalence, in order to implement an intervention device called Inclusive guides, that were designed under the principles of meaningful learning proposed by Ausubel, Novak & Hanessian (1983) and Villarini’s intelect skills. At the same time, the effectiveness generated by such a device in the optimization of the processes of teaching and learning of content associated with the Chemistry was determined. The statistical results obtained after the application of the “t” of Student to the managed post-test shows huge differences in favor of the experimental group stimulated with the device, to the detriment of the group control subjected to traditional teaching.

The methods used to conduct research are one of the indicators that show the degree of a country’s development. The research related to the evaluation about the impact of “ONDAS” program in students and teachers of educational institutions in Sucre, Caribbean region, specifically from 2007 to 2009, was carried out based on assessment objectives using qualitative and quantitative methods in order to determine that the impact was significant, since it enabled the actors involved in the appropriation of a research culture embracing a spirit of inquiry, the new meaning of pedagogical practice mastery, linking of external actors, building communities, and, in general, making the assumption that the research was conducted as a pedagogical strategy to experience a method alternative to traditional learning processes.

This publication intends to invite people appointed as facilitators in the lawyer training process, to reflect on the following question: Is the teaching practice used by the teacher relevant to develop competences that are required by the current Colombian legal field? This question is relevant, especially by taking into account the constitutional rules of 1991 including the welfare state in the legal system, the Compulsory Constitutional precedent and orality changes encourage teachers to use methods and pedagogical resources in accordance to the teaching of legal positivism (standard) judicial decisions and orality. This paper is a preliminary result of the study carried out and based on the conceptual framework of the research project of law program at Universidad Simón Bolívar (branch in Cúcuta). “The training of the lawyer in relation with the Colombian legal system”. It was used as the methodology of documentary analysis and operational technique for the interpretation of books, articles, and judgments of the Constitutional court. In conclusion, it is focused on the need to address the teaching of the law schools from the ius naturalist, positivist, legal realist, as well as the use of relevant teaching methods and means to develop the skills for the new system.

The following paper addresses the teaching practices employed by teachers at two public schools in the cities of Barranquilla, Atlantico and Giron, Santander, Colombia, to treat cases of school violence occurring between elementary school students in the seventh and eighth grade. A survey of 71 students aged 12-14 years from Colegio San Juan de Giron and 17 students aged 13-15 years from Colegio Alejandro Obregon in Barranquilla helped to identify the types of violent occurrences in the student population and to develop a characterization of conflict in the school environment. Twenty-five teachers (12 from Barranquilla and 13 from Giron) were also surveyed as a way to aid in improving their practices regarding school conflict resolution. The results were interpreted using the qualitative case study method, and from these results it was concluded that school violence is a reality and the students do not have confidence in their teachers.

This paper is a result of a macro project for Latin American higher education. It shows progress based on our research in the Central East Region of Colombia. This research, Curriculum field formation, was conducted in this region of Colombia, between 1960 and 1989. After establishing the corresponding theoretical foundation to this study, the authors come to their own conclusions surrounding the context of the region’s educational curriculum. The study also analyzes the emergence of the region’s educational process in the context of education throughout the world,in cooperation with the United States, along with Colombia’s National education policies. There were favorable conditions which made possible the curriculum field formation of the country’s educational system describe these processes. Finally, the study recognizes the roles of many actors, both domestic and international, and looks at reactions to the policies which are oficially based on rules and decrees from the Colombian Educational Administration.

This research aimed to explain the nature and extent of social capital present in relations among the members of a rural communities in Andres Eloy Blanco municipality of Estado de Lara (Venezuela). The methodology was qualitative and used direct observation, which is inherent in all research processes, as well as participatory observation, where the researcher shared his points of view based on the information that was gathered. Ethnographic method was also used. When applied to the lifestyle of a group of people, it hinders the establishment of social networks with the results allowed to make explicit that the nature and of social capital extent in these communities is emerging, which hinders the establishment of social networks. It was concluded that the nature of social capital is spaced, egocentric and informal, own of the ties of affective relationships; the range is characterized by relationships of linkage and association between communities.

This analysis is presented in order to promote studies in the field of gifted and talented within Colombian classrooms. This paper presents a study of the works of the contemporary British playwright Edward Bond. The analysis is based on literary social criticism through which the violence present in the work of Edward Bond is studied. The research is presented in sections. In the first instance, there is a biography of the author and how this was refl ected in his work. Then the study describes briefl y the development of British theater in the twentieth century. Then the study presents a summary of the work under consideration and its corresponding analysis indicating the violent actions and their respective study. Also included is a subchapter where the question arises about the positive or negative aspects of the work. In the last part, there is a brief review of other works written by the author where violence is demonstrated consistently. The conclusions are some ideas the author raises followed by a statement about the validity of the writer’s work and the importance of this study in the teaching of English.

This article, which is the result of a quasi-experimental research, determines the effect of simulation as a teaching strategy in solving logical problems in the development of thinking skills (D.H.P-2) Chair. The research is based on the cognitive theory of significant learning and its development involved two groups, one experimental and another one control. Each group consisted of 29 students, in a total sample of 58 participants (students), who were subjected to a test of previous knowledge in basic mathematical operations a pre-test of content about logic problems and a post-test to measure performance content reached in the end. Simulation as a didactic strategy and the expository technique were applied to both the experimental and control group.
