Sleeping behavior is poorly documented in Lepidoptera, not to mention sleeping aggregations. In this study, I report for the first time the sleeping behavior of Sallya madagascariensis (Boisduval, 1833), a rare Nymphalidae species found in Madagascar. Notably, we observed that individuals of this species exhibit aggregation behavior during their nighttime resting periods. They were found resting on the undersides of leaves in a vertical position, typically at a height of three to four meters on the tree.

A checklist of the Taiwanese fauna of Proctotrupidae was provided. Nine species of Proctotrupidae were newly recorded from Taiwan: Brachyserphus abruptus (Say, 1836), B. leleji Kolyada, 2016, B. nudipleuralis Kolyada, 1997, B. parvulus (Nees, 1834), B. semipunctatus Kolyada, 2012, Cryptoserphus aculeator (Haliday, 1839), C. flavipes (Provancher, 1881), Oxyserphus clypeatus (Ashmead, 1893), Tretoserphus laricis (Haliday, 1839).

The Argasidae (soft ticks) is a family of medically important blood-feeding arachnids that parasitize terrestrial vertebrates. In this paper, we present additional geographic records of bat-associated soft ticks belonging to the genera Argas Latreille and Ornithodoros Koch collected in the Philippines. These records include the first report of Argas pusillus Kohls from Balabac Island and the initial findings of Ornithodoros batuensis Hirst from Batan, Bohol, and Panay Islands. These discoveries enhance our understanding of the distribution of these tick species in the Philippines, which is relevant for assessing their potential impact on public health.

Alibang Eco-Farm is situated in the low-altitude region of the Datun Volcano Group in northern Taiwan, renowned for its rich wetland resources and diverse aquatic insect population. This study offers an overview of the aquatic insect fauna discovered in Alibang Eco-Farm and the nearby Alibang Stream. Species data were gathered through long-term Odonata monitoring spanning from 2003 to 2023, as well as a water insect survey conducted in 2023. The findings revealed a total of 136 species belonging to 45 families and 7 orders. Notably, this study marks the first recorded instance of Peltochares atropiceus Régimbart, 1903, a species of water scavenger beetle, on the island of Taiwan.

This paper presents new geographic records for the nycteribiid bat fly Cyclopodia horsfieldi de Meijere, a widespread Old World endemic species parasitic on flying foxes. Additionally, this account represents the first published record of C. horsfieldi on Tawi-Tawi Island and in the Bicol Peninsula (southern Luzon).

This paper provides a photo of a male Tramea virginia (Rambur, 1842) taken from the West Pacific Ocean, approximately 30 km east of the nearest land. This photo serves as a migration record, and the paper also briefly discusses the migration behavior of the genus Tramea Hagen, 1861.

Metopius soror Chiu, 1962 was originally described based on a single female. This study reports the host record of M. soror on Nyctemera albofasciata (Wileman, 1911) for the first time and female oviposition behavior on the larva of N. adversata (Schaller, 1788). We also provide the first description of the male of M. soror.

A systematic survey of ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) was conducted at Gaomei Wetlands Wildlife Refuge. We discovered 19 carabid species in the study area and provide a complete list of them. Among four sampling sites, the northern side of the Dajia River estuary had the highest species richness, where 14 species of Carabidae were recorded. The species compositions were also different across sampling sites, probably caused by habitat heterogeneity in Gaomei Wetlands Wildlife Refuge. In addition, we provide notes on the two most abundant species. Bembidion foochowense Lindroth 1980 is rediscovered and represents the first recorded littoral ground beetle in central Taiwan. Mastax brittoni Quentin, 1952, the species with three different elytral color patterns but has a constant elytral color pattern in our survey and occurs sympatrically with ants. Our investigation was focussed on the carabid fauna of central Taiwan and implied the insufficient investigation of littoral ground beetles.

The single record of Chlorogomphus splendidus (Selys, 1878) in Taiwan was based on a single female specimen collected from Lanyu Island in eastern Taiwan. The status of this species in Taiwan has remained uncertain for nearly a century, as no new material is available for study. Upon the capture of a female C. risi Chen, 1950 in 2010 from the island, we decided to re-examine the voucher specimen of C. splendidus and compared it with the female C. risi. The result reveals that Lanyu C. splendidus is a pale-winged female C. risi. Hence, Chlorogomphus splendidus has to be excluded from the list of Taiwanese Odonata.

The identity of Taiwanese Rhyothemis fuliginosa Selys, 1883 is clarified to be the gynomorphic female of R. regia regia (Brauer, 1867). Female Taiwanese R. r. regia differ from female R. fuliginosa mainly in having paler face with weak metallic lustre, anteriorly more strongly incurved postclpyeus and stouter cerci. The reported wing patterns of various subspecies of R. regia are compiled from the literature for comparison. A transitional variation of the female wing pattern of Taiwanese R. r. regia varying from andromorphic to gynomorphic is illustrated. The case of range expansion caused by climatic warming in R. r. regia and other libelullid dragonflies in Taiwan is elucidated.
