The purpose of the language is to form communication between people. Communication is very complex process. It represents the process of exchanging the information, ideas, thoughts between two or more people. Nonverbal communication is very important part of the communicational process.
Non-verbal means of communication that historically appeared before the verbal ones possess the ability to make a serious impact on the addressee. They sometimes make it possible to express information that is hard to or embarrassing to say in words for some reasons. Consequently, the non-verbal act is as important as the uttered words.
Nonverbal indicators play vital role in interpersonal communication; during interpersonal communication, 90% of the information is shown by the nonverbal communication (voice, face expression, body language), and 10% average is transmitted through verbal communication.
Respectively, the aim of the thesis is to specify the concept of non-verbal communication in the context of the anthropocentrism and psycholinguistics; define general national and ethnical nature of non-verbal communication norms; make a comprehensive cross-cultural analysis of the non-verbal techniques.
Since the end of the 20th century it has become clearer that there is necessity for experts of the non-verbal communication. Though it may sound surprising but the comprehensive and systematic study of the non-verbal aspects of the communication started only in the late 20th century.
There are several principles of nonverbal communication:
Despite the wish of the speaker, nonverbal communication is constantly transmitted, even when the verbal communication is finished;
Nonverbal communication perfectly describes the emotions, mood, and attitude, which in many cases are hard to express with words;
Therefore, nonverbal communication is a complex and rich, a process parallel to the verbal communication. Mostly it is created subconsciously.
