The application of oxytocin induction to milk production in relation to the performance of kids in dairy goats had been carried out in the "PEGUMAS" dairy goat farmer group Gumelar District, Banyumas. This activity aimed to increase milk production and kid performance through the induction of the hormone oxytocin in dairy goats. The approach method was designed in two stages: the first stage carried out the socialization activities and demonstration of techniques for applying IPTEKS, and the second stage applied hormonal technology in the form of oxytocin hormone induction in dairy goats. The material used was dairy goat parity I aged 1.5 - 2 years allocated into 2 groups of 10 individuals each. Group I was dairy goat experiment not induced with the oxytocin hormone as the control. Group II was dairy goat experiment induced with the oxytocin hormone at a dose of 1 ml (10 IU) intramuscularly before milking. Milk production was measured morning and evening as daily milk production in milliliters (ml). Milk was given to the kid of each parent. The kid's performance was measured based on the daily weight gain of the kid during the study. Overall, the application of science and technology could be adopted by farmers, and oxytocin-induced dairy goat milk production (503.2 ml) was significantly higher (P<0.05) than control (305.4 ml) with an increase of 64.77%, with a positive level of correlation (r = 0.45) and contributed 19.83% to the kids daily body weight gain.

The purpose of developing beef cattle farming is to increase the population and productivity of cattle products followed by increasing farmers’ income, creating jobs and improving the genetic quality of beef cattle. The problem is that beef cattle farms in North Sulawesi are carried out in traditional management instead of eco-friendly; they are mostly developed by grazing on agricultural land. This study aims to identify the potential strategies to support the development of eco-friendly beef cattle farms. This study used a survey to analyze the role, opportunities and challenges of beef cattle farms in North Bolaang Mongondow Regency. The locations were purposively sampled to include the central area for government-initiative beef cattle development i.e. Sangkub, Bintauna and East Bolangitan districts. The data were subject to internal and external analysis using IFAS matrix, EFAS matrix and SWOT analysis.The results showed that the actual beef cattle population could be increased to 1.37 times. Development is carried out with an orientation to environment and sustainability using LEISA concept. The development of beef cattle was in a condition dominated by strength (the strength value of 1.882 or 76.59%). Opportunities are more quickly responded in the face of the threat of beef cattle development (the opportunity value of 1.842 or 68.09%). In conclusion, the development of beef cattle has a role in increasing the income of farmers and has market opportunities and the challenges can be minimized by increasing the productivity and quality of beef cattle that are environmentally oriented. Technology introduction is needed for the development of sustainable beef cattle farms.

The study was conducted in the final waste disposal (TPA) Jatibarang, Kedungpane, Mijen, Semarang. A survey was conducted, targeting the beef cattle farmers who pastured their cattle in the TPA Jatibarang, Semarang. The observed variables were age (X1), education background (X2), length of stay (X3), total cattle owned (X4), and the farmer’s norm compliance (Y1). Purposive sampling was used to determine the sample of regions. Total respondents were determined by simple random sampling, selecting 70 out of 350 farmers (20%). The result of the analysis showed that 78.57% farmers were at their productive age (20-55 years old), 64.30% had elementary education background, 74.29% had been farming for over 14 years, and 62.86% had fewer than seven cattle. The farmers also showed a sound moral compliance. The result of spearman rank showed a non-significant correlation between age and length of farming experience with norm compliance. Age was negatively correlated with norm compliance, but education background and total cattle owned were significantly correlated with norm compliance, showing a correlation value of 0,248* and 0,610*, respectively.

The study was aimed to investigate the antimicrobial activity of bacterial isolates L.plantarum 3CT7 and 20CT8 from goat colostrum. The antimicrobial activity of cell-free supernatant was tested using a well-diffusion method on several indicators: temperature, time of storage, and pH. Antimicrobial activity was recorded in both isolates at pH 2.0; 4.0; 6.0 and 8.0, temperature at 0, 50 and 100 oC, and in cold storage for 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 days. L.plantarum 7CT3 and L.plantarum 20CT8 have a bigger zone of inhibition than that of Pseudomonas spp. as compared to other bacteria. Testing the cell-free activity was aimed to investigate the metabolite inhibition by L.plantarum. The isolates were capable of inhibiting all pathogenic bacteria in the experiment (S. thypimurium, E. coli, and S. aureus) as evidenced from the similar zone of inhibition from 15.83 to 16.06 mm. Isolates (L. plantarum 7CT3 dan 20CT8) exhibit inhibitory properties against S.thypimurium, S. aureus, Pseudomonas spp.. and L. monocytogenes at 0, 50 and 100oC. L.plantarum 7CT3 and L.plantarum 20CT8 exhibit antimicrobial activity during cold storage. Both isolates grown in the range of pH from 2 to 8 could inhibit S. thypimurium, E. coli, S. aureus and Pseudomonas spp. In general, the two isolates are the potential antimicrobial activity with broad ranges of pH, temperature and storage time.

The research aimed to evaluate the onset of estrus, conception rate, pregnancy rate and duration of estrus in Bali cow, limousine cow and rambon cow after being administered with three different hormones to syncrhronize estrus. A randomized block design with two factors, type of cow and hormone dose, was performed. Fifty-four postpartum cows consisted of the three breeds were administered to a single dose of PGF2α (5 ml per cow), a double dose of PGF2α (10 ml per cow) and combination of PGF2α and hCG (1,500 IU per cow). An analysis of variance showed that different breeds did not associate with the hormone doses and their combination, as evident from the onset of estrus, duration of estrus, conception rates and service per conception. However, different cow breeds showed the same onset of estrus, service per conception and the different onset of estrus and pregnancy rates. On the other hand, different doses of PGF2α and its combination with hCG generated different onset of estrus, duration of estrus, and pregnancy rates, but shared common service per conception. In conclusion, Bali cow demonstrated a more appropriate fertility than Limousin cow and Rambon cow. A combination of PGF2α and hCG showed the most adequate hormonal treatment to synchronize the estrus compared to single and double doses of PGF2α.

this research investigated the effect of supplementing garlic powder and organic micromineral Cr in feed on rumination time and frequency in Ettawah goat (PE). The research was conducted in Gunung Tugel Farm in Patikraja and the Laboratory of Feed Technology in Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto, Central Java. This study used 18 male PE aged 1-1.5 years and weighed 18.62 – 22.69 kg. The feed consisted of 60% concentrate and 40% forage (field grass). Other materials included drinking water, 250 ppm garlic powder (Allium sativum), 1.5 ppm organic chromium mineral and eight CCTV camera. The observed parameters were rumination time and frequency. An in vivo experiment in a Completely Randomised Design (CRD) administered three treatments and six replicates, namely R0: control (basal feed); R1: basal feed + 250 ppm garlic powder; and R2: basal feed + 250 ppm garlic powder + 1.5 ppm organic Cr. The result demonstrated a significantly different effect of garlic powder and organic Cr micromineral supplement on rumination time across treatments, i.e. 404 ± 19.6; 382 ± 19.04 and 351 ± 13.87 min/day, respectively, or 379 min/day on average. Rumination frequency was not significantly different across R0, R1, and R2 namely 360 ± 24.03; 359 ± 30.13 and 342 ± 21.10 times/day, respectively. Conclusively, garlic powder and organic Cr micromineral significantly affected rumination time, but not significantly affected rumination frequency of PE goat.

The research aimed to determine the characteristics and quality of egg of commercial laying hens fed ration supplemented with garlic (Allium sativum) powder. The research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and four replicates (5 hens each) for a total of 100 brown laying hens strain MB 402. Garlic powder contained 24.62% crude protein, 38.81% fat, and 1.74% crude fiber. The treatments of garlic powder ration were 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8%. The treatments performed were dietary, with R0 = 100% based diet (BD); R1= 98% based diet (BD) + 2% garlic meal (GM); R2= 96% based diet (BD) + 4% GM, R3 = 94% based diet (BD) + 6% GM, R4 = 92% based diet (BD) + 8% GM. The study was conducted during eight (8) weeks. Collected data were quality, weight, shell weight, albumen weight and shell thickness of eggs. Data was analyzed with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that 8% garlic powder ration increased weight and albumen weight of eggs. There were no significant effect of treatments in yolk weight, shell weight and shell thickness of eggs. Garlic powder supplementation on laying hen ration affected egg weight and albumen weight. The addition of garlic powder on laying hen ration of up to 4% increased egg weight. Albumen weight increased until garlic powder supplementation of up to 8%. It is recommended the use of 8% garlic powder supplementation on lying hen ration without negative effects on egg quality

Sentul chicken is one of indigenous poultries maintained by most people in Ciamis Regency, West Java Province. This study aimed at determining the influence of socio demographic factors on the income generated from Sentul chicken farming in Ciamis Regency. A survey method was conducted to the members of seven farmer groups institutionally assisted by the Ciamis Regency Government Unit. The descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis were used to describe the profile of respondents and to analyze the influence of socio demographic factors on the income generated from Sentul chicken farming. The results showed that the farmers’ length of education was 11.8 years with 5.8 years experience raising the Sentul chicken while the farm size was averagely 9 heads of chicken. The Sentul chicken farmmaintained in 70 days with semi-intensive production system has generated income ranging from IDR 756,000 to IDR 19,900,000. Farming experience and farm size significantly influenced the income generated from Sentul chicken farming. Increase the farming experience of Sentul chicken farmers and enlarging Sentul chicken farm size with semi-intensive production system may improve the income generated from Sentul chicken farming in Ciamis Regency.

he aim of present study was to investigate myostatin gene polymorphism and its association with weaning weight and body weight in Batur sheep, 30 heads of Batur all lambs were fed by concentrated feed. Body weight measured monthly after weaning to the six months of age. DNA Extraction used 200 ul of whole blood samples. To amplify exon 3 region of MSTN gene a specific primer designed using the Primer3 software. The 25 μl volume contained 25 ng of genomic DNA, 12.5 μl 2x Reaction mix of each primer. The cycling protocol was 5 minutes at 95°C as initial denaturation, 35 cycles of denaturing at 94°C for 45 seconds, annealing at 73.9 for 45 seconds, extending at 72°C for 40 s, with final extension at 72°C for 10 minutes. Eleven polymorphic sites were observed in the in 3rd exon region transversions at c.*121 G instead of A, del-T at c.*129, one individual at c.*139 and one individual at c.*158 positions however, one individual sequence disrupted reading frame in whole MSTN sequenced, also weaning weight and 6-month weight of Batur lambs were 21.13±5.70 and 31.64±7.06 to the homozygous whilst 19.99±4.33 and 30.50±5.44 for heterozygote respectively but there is no significe differences seen above all the studied parameters. Homozygous AA lambs had fairly low weaning weight and body weight compared to the heterozygous AB lambs but might have a higher carcass weight, further investigation is needed into the interaction of MSTN with other genes involved in muscle growth.

This research was aimed to determine the effect of supplementation of vegetable oil (corn oil, palm oil and kapok seed oil) on in vitro ruminal fermentability and nutrient digestibility. Experiment design used was Randomized Block Design with four treatments and four replication based on rumen fluid sampling time. The four treatments namely R0 = feed without oil supplementation; R1 = R0 + 5% corn oil; R2 = R0 + 5% palm oil; and R3 = R0 + 5% kapok seed oil. The result showed that supplementation of 5% vegetable oil did not affect (P>0,05) the rumen pH, A/P ratio, and efficiency of energy conversion. The total VFA, acetate, propionate, butyrate, methane and NH3 was higher (P<0,05) in supplementation of 5% vegetable oil than he control. The population of protozoa, microbial protein, in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD), organic matter digestibility (IVOMD), and crude fiber digestibility (IVCFD) was lower (P<0,05) in supplementation of 5% compared to the control. Population of protozoa decreased until 58,76% for R1; 66,89% for R2; and 43,33% for R3. It can be concluded that supplementation of 5% vegetable oil decreased the population of protozoa, increased the production of VFA and NH3. Supplementation of 5% kapok seed oil resulting the highest of total VFA, acetate, propionate, butyrate and NH3 among other treatments.

The study was aimed to identify the effectiveness of the inhibitory activity of garlic skin extract (GSE) with different concentrations on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mutants, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans. The study used the Kirby-Bauer method in a completely randomized (CRD) design with five treatments (positive control, negative control, 5% GSE, 10% GSE, and 15% GSE) and three replicates. The extract was obtained through evaporation of garlic skin macerated with aquadest solvent. The data were subjected to ANOVA, continued with an Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test. The results showed that GSE concentration (minimum 5-10%) was highly significant to inhibit the growth of mastitis-causing microorganisms.

The objective of the study was to assess the productivity of PO calves with Integrated Village Management System (IVMS). The calf management generally follows cow pattern. The IVMS management applied to calves include weaning 5-6 months and optimizing local feed. Straw-based cow feed with supplementation using greenfeed and concentrate. Recording productivity of calf include: birth, weaning, body weight, calf death calf mobilization. Weighing weight was done at birth, weaning, and every month in the first year of study and every 2 months in the next research year. Implementation of IVMS management with rice straw-based feed produces good PO calf productivity when supported by addition of other feed sources, i. e. feed with high protein composition (concentrate, legume) to balancing the nutrient composition of feed.

The parameters recorded included egg weight (g/bird)), egg yolk weight (g/bird), yolk index (%), albumen index (%), egg yolk color, egg cholesterol (mg/100g), egg crude protein (%), egg crude fat (%), egg white crude protein (%), egg yellow fat (%), eggshell calcium (%), eggshell phosphorus (%), blood cholesterol (mg/dl), blood LDL cholesterol (mg/dl), and blood HDL cholesterol (mg/dl) of the laying hens. The results showed that feeding birds with 12 % increased egg yolk weight, egg yolk color, egg crude fat, egg yellow fat, egg cholesterol, egg shell calcium, egg shell phosphor, blood cholesterol, blood HDL. Moreover there were no significant differences in egg weight, yolk index , albumen index, egg crude protein, egg white crude protein and blood LDL. In Conclusion, DPPM diets can be fed to the laying hens up to 12 % to produce eggs without negative effects on the egg quality.ransomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications (10 hens each). he aim of this study was to find out the potential of agricultural and food industry wastes as the constituents of pig feed to improve pigs’ performance and to reduce the feeding cost. This study was conducted at Manokwari Regency, West Papua Province. The agricultural and food industry wastes were collected from two traditional market, and four small-scale food industries. All materials used as feed were proximately analyzed to determine their nutritional values. Average daily gain, feed consumption and feed coversion ratio were taken to determine the pigs performance. Feed cost using local market prices was estimated in knowing the ability of agricultural and food industry wastes to substitutes commercial feed. The result of this research indicates that the use of agricultural and food industries wastes as an alternative components of pigs’ feed to substitute the commercial feed do not reduce the pigs’ performance and production. Among three feeds that use of agricultural and food industry wastes, feed with the combination of 75% waste and 25% commercial feed had the best feed conversion ratio, namely 2.36. On the other hand, a mixture of 25% wastes and 75% commercial feed was the most economic one, and able to reduce the feeding cost of grower pig up to 48.00%.

The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of commercial feed on hematological and carcass profiles of broiler chickens. A total of 1800 day old chick (DOC) broilers were administered in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) furthered by Duncan test. The treatments consisted of Feed A, B, C, D, E, and F. The observed variables included hematology profiles (erythrocyte, hemoglobin, leukocyte, heterophil, lymphocyte, and monocyte) and performance (live weight, carcass percentage, breast, thigh, wings, shank, and head). The result showed that feed treatment did not significantly affect (P>0,05) hematology profiles and performance of broiler chickens, but significantly affected live weight (P<0,05). Conclusively, different types of commercial feed did not render physiological effect to DOC and safe for feeding until 35 days old to increase the live weight of broiler chickens.

The research entitled “Identification of Factors Contributed to Beef Cattle Reproductive Disorders in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency (OKU Timur) of South Sumatra Province in UPSUS SIWAB Program 2018” was done on Semendawai Suku III and Semendawai Timur, OKU Timur regency, South Sumatra on October 10th until November 10th 2018. The purpose of this research is to identify the factors contributed to reproductive disorders of beef cattle, mapping the factors that affect reproductive disorders of beef cattle and generate strategies to improve reproductive performance of beef cattle in OKU Timur Regency. The targets in the study are 40 beef cattle breeders, 2 inseminators and 2 employees of the Local Office of Fisheries and Livestock Services of OKU Timur Regency.The research was done by survey, the method used was qualitative modeling with the Causal Loop Diagram (CLD). The variables observed in the study were variables related to reproductive performance consisted of Body Condition Score (BCS), Calving Interval (CI), Service per Conception (S/C), Conception Rate (CR) and variables related to factors indicated to have contribution to reproductive disorders such as farmer characteristics, resources owned by farmers and resources possessed by inseminators. The results showed that reproductive disorders of beef cattle in OKU Timur Regency included ovarian hypofunction, endometritis, pyometra, systolic ovary, silent heat, vulvitis, vaginitis, mummification and placental retention. The identified factors contributed to reproductive disorders are low quality and availability of feed, low breeders' knowledge, absence of postpartum treatment, limited medical supplies and quantity, unstandard technical implementation of artificial insemination, cross breeding of heifer, insufficient inseminator facilities. Strategies that can be done to improve the reproductive performance of beef cattle is to increase the role of the government in providing superior feed seeds and assisting by Universities; increasing the number of medicalsupplies and facilities, equip inseminator with sufficient facilities, and technical insemination and increasing the intensity of extension services to improve farmers' knowledge and utilization of potential agricultural waste with technology.

his study aims to determine the effect of giving various types of feed additives to the chemical composition value of super chicken chicken (Gallus domestica). This research is an experimental research using 20 super chicken chickens that come from chicken growth research (growth study). The design used in this study was Completely Randomized Design (RAL), consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment given was (A0 = control (Vita chick 0.7 gram / liter; A1 = 20 ml / liter probio-FM; A2 = 0.08% MOS-oligosaccharide / kg of feed and A3 = herbal leuser KI 5 ml / liter). is a 90 day old super chicken breast Chicken Variable observed moisture content, protein content and fat content The data obtained were analyzed by using vocabulary and tested further by Duncan's Multiple Range Test The results showed that treatment (P> 0,05) to the value of water content and protein of super chicken fowl.Average value of water content at each treatment A0 (69,81%), A1 (70,74%), A2 (71,56%) and A3 (71,52%) while mean value of protein A0 (18,95%), A1 (19,61%), A2 (19,01%) and A3 (19,14%)) P <0,05) to the fat content of super chicken flesh, mean of fat content were A0 (2.02%), A1 (1.49%), A2 (1.37%) and A3 (2.0%).

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of nanoencapsulation liquid turmeric extract (NLTE) supplementation as a phytobiotic on organoleptic quality of broiler chicken meat. The research was conducted with a directional pattern completely randomized design. Eighty-four broiler chickens were raised from day old (DOC) to 42 days old chick. From DOC to 14 days old, chicks were fed with commercial feed (ME 3,100 kcal/kg; CP 22%; Ca 1%; P 0.75%). During 15-21 days of age, chicks were given a mixture commercial feed and basalt feed (ME 3,201.77 kcal/kg; CP 20.21%; Ca 0.90%; and P 0.43%). At 22-42 days old, they were given treatments by basal feeding. Seven treatments were replicated 3 times consisted of 4 broiler chickens for each replication. The treatments were positive control (P1), negative control (P2), water + NLTE 2% (P3), water + NLTE 4% (P4), water + NLTE 6% (P5), water + NLTE 8% (P6), and water + NLTE 10% (P7). The results showed that supplementation NLTE significantly increased (P<0.05) the taste of broiler meat. However, it did not show a significant influence (P>0.05) on the texture, colour, tenderness, and preference of meat.

Ammonium (NH3) is released from uric acid of chicken feces. Good management practices are required to depress ammonium concentration in a litter. Several research findings showed that application of CaCO3 (calcium carbonate) can decrease ammonium concentration in a litter. Eggshell as a by-product of hennery (hen stable) and hatchery is mainly constructed from CaCO3. This research aimed to evaluate the addition of hen eggshell powder at different concentration in litter on water content, pH, microorganism, and NH3 concentration of litter. Rice husk as litter material, hen eggshell powder at a concentration of 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% and hen manure were thoroughly mixed. After 24 hours, the concentration of water content, pH, microorganisms amount and NH3 in each treatment were measured. This research was completely randomized designed with 3 repetitions. Results showed the progressive addition of hen eggshell powder in litter until 15% increased pH and decreased water content, number of microorganisms and NH3 concentration. The addition of 15% hen eggshell powder in litter revealed best litter properties.

This research was conducted to evaluate the influence of insect crude thoraxial antigen-G (CTA) extracted from Apis mellifera L. (Hymenoptera: Apidae) to enhance goat’s serum immunoglobulin level. The first part of this study was the determination of insect CTA proportion level. The insects were collected from four different places: Tomohon, Minahasa, North-Minahasa and Manado areas. The second part of the study was the application of A. mellifera CTA substance on serum immunoglobulin level classification. In this part, twelve young goats handled with traditional maintenance. The animals experiment were divided in two groups: control group and the other treated with 100 µg CTA extract. The proportion of serum immunoglobulins level of goats was detected at 14th days after immunization with insects CTA extract, and compared with the animals immunoglobulin levels at the starting day of treatment. The data of CTA extract proportion level of the insects collected were subjected to statistically analysis using the general linear model (GLM) procedure of SPSS 22. Concerning the classification level of the animal treated with CTA was statistically analyzed according to Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the proportion level of thoraxial antigens-G of A. mellifera from all areas observed were not significant different (P>0.05). This crude thoraxial antigens-G of this insect were able to increase serum antibody level of the experiment animal after 14 days of immunization. The immunoglobulin level qualification of animals in treated group were significant higher (P<0.05) than in control group. We concluded that the CTA extract of the Apis mellifera could be empowered to improve the young goat immunity against the pathogenic microbes in their environment.
