SOX: Creating the Public Accounting Oversight Board and Increased Corporate Responsibility – The Sarbanes-Oxley Act, also known as Sarbox or SOX was passed in July 2002 in response to the rash of real and perceived failures in corporate governance and financial disclosure. Its primary emphasis was to enhance the quality and transparency of corporate disclosure and force changes in the auditing of publicly traded companies. These objectives were achieved in a number of ways by the passing of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. The present paper highlights the role of different types of Board of Directors and their obligation towards the long run performance of an organization. It also highlights the reforms mandated by SOX Act to enhance corporate responsibility and financial disclosure and to combat corporate and accounting fraud.

The objective of this paper is to explore students' perceptions of utillity of Indian higher education system in the current globalization scenario. In the past few years, some private initiatives in the field higher education system in India have been taken by the corporate sectors, voluntary agencies and the private sector partnership so as to meet the growing demands of skilled manpower in the country. Educational institutions are now under intense pressure due to privatization of education, as if they have to operate as they are a business. It has been observed that there is a significant gap between institutional goals and students expectations for education and training. The objective of this paper is to analyze the factors that are indicators of students' perception of Indian higher education system. The analysis is based on survey questionnaires administered to 150 undergraduate students of Bhopal city. The questionnaire contained questions related to respondents' demographic characteristics and questions pertaining to the students view about the Indian higher education system. The data are analyzed using factor analysis.

The entrepreneurial development in any economy is the key to economic devellopment. In any type of entrepreneurial venture to derive competitive advantage, one basically needs to be creative and innovative, so as to reduce the cost of production, or maintain quality, introduce differentiation, enhance customer benefits and to gain ultimately a considerable market share. Gaining competitive advantage in any market is the key to sustain and to earn profits, thereby satisfying the shareholders by paying them higher dividends. Therefore risk taking is an in burst imperative for an entrepreneur, because one cannot expect to gain something in the future without taking the risk of facing uncertainties and imponderables. In this era of advancements where the organisations are striving hard for going global and cross their nation's borders in a short span of time Mergers and Acquisitions/Takeovers/Strategic alliances/Joint Ventures has become an inevitable choice. A critical question for any entrepreneurial venture is to sustain and knock down the competition and that is why the most stated justification for doing M&A's is diversification. Complementing the goal of diversification; the other sensible motives for deals are economies of scale, economies of vertical integration, risk reduction, complementary resources, unused tax shields, surplus funds and eliminating inefficiencies. All these synergies in one way or another are becoming the objective for any entrepreneurial activity from an economic perspective. These are the trade off's that can make M&A as a good option in an enterprise to gain strategic advancement. As a researcher it becomes imperative to critically analyse this innovative trend of gaining advancements adopted by enterprises. This paper attempts to build a strong theoretical background that's why there is a need of adopting the strategy of M & A's as a tool of gaining strategic advancements for enterprises. It also attempts to propose a model which small and medium scale enterprises could adopt for growth and diversification.

Job satisfaction is the composite feelings of an employee towards different facets of job. It is the result of employees' perception of how well their job provides those things which are viewed as important. Job satisfaction is very important because most of the people spend a major portion of their life at their work place. From the organisational point of view, research on job satisfaction of employees is essential because it is already recognised that high job satisfaction may lead to improved performance. Like other employees, the satisfaction of college teachers is also vital not only for the teachers but also for the students as well as the other stakeholders of higher education. Job satisfaction of college teachers increases productivity and classroom performance in the college. The present study makes an attempt to analyse the level of satisfaction of college teachers' on each of the factors of job satisfaction in the Government degree colleges of Agartala city of Tripura. In order to assess the level of job satisfaction, responses of the college teachers has been analyzed over five factors of job satisfaction, namely, pay and allowances, welfare facilities, cooperation and support from colleagues, physical facilities for teachers and promotion matters using mean, SD and one sample t-test. The study concludes that the college teachers' are significantly dissatisfied with all the factors except 'co-operation and support from colleagues'.

The foreign institutional investors (FII) have become a significant driving force of the Indian capital market and their growing presence marks the development of the capital market of India. To facilitate foreign capital flows developing countries seek to strengthen their capital markets. As a result of which Indian capital markets have achieved new heights and have become more volatile opening the dimensions of new research in the arena of Foreign Institutional Investments and Indian capital market. This paper makes an attempt to study the effects of trading behaviour of foreign institutional investors on the Indian capital market. We found out that there are no significant changes in the Indian capital market returns and volatility is significantly reduced after opening up of the market to foreign investors.

The study is conducted on 179 respondents in the age bracket off 15 years to 35 years of Lucknow city with the purpose to investigate the impact of cultural factors over generation Y consumer decision making. The structured questionnaire stating the cultural factors on 3 point scale (1= agree, 2= can't say and 3= disagree) was constructed keeping in mind the objective of the study and all other important aspects. Convenience sampling is used for collecting the data from the respondents. The property and nature of data is tested to making decision about use of correct statistical test. It is found that there is impact of cultural factors over generation Y consumer decision making.

This study is an attempt to estimate prevalence of computer relatedd health problems/musculoskeletal discomforts among college students and to investigate association of health problems/musculoskeletal discomforts with duration of computing. 300 college students were studied from Punjab state of India using computer and laptops. Majority of respondents were female, graduate and fall in 20-25 years age group, use desktop and work on computer 2-4 hours and take at least once an hour break during working on computer. Chi Square test and 'T' test was used to test the hypothesis. There is association between musculoskeletal problems due to Computer Usage and years of working on computer and between musculoskeletal problems due to Computer Usage and hours of working on computer. Health related problems/Musculoskeletal discomforts are independent of Gender except lower back pain which is more in females. There is no difference in Health related problems/Musculoskeletal discomforts between desktop users and Laptop users.
