The magnitude of extrusion load and its response to varying lengths of aluminium (Al) billet material during a backward cold cup extrusion process was carried out using MATLAB simulation. The matrix laboratory (MATLAB) software as a robust mathematical software tool was effective in simulation of the extrusion process in conjunction with the upper bound element technique (UBET). Results obtained showed that as the billet height decreased during plastic deformation the extrusion load also decreased. The maximum extrusion load was observed at the highest billet height, while the minimum extrusion load was observed at billet height of 2mm beyond which the extrusion load tends to increase again possibly due to work hardening of the metal billet resulting in velocity discontinuity at which point the extrusion operation proceed to stop. The use of MATLAB simulation for the extrusion process is cost effective, time saving and useful in predicting extrusion variables when compared to carrying out the physical extrusion experiment. This study is significant in the selection of proper extrusion machine capacity as well as executing an efficient extrusion process.

VANET has become a key for fast growing wireless applications now a day. Researchers has proposed many appli-cations based on existing protocol either location or topology based to measure the various performances merits. The two major routing protocol widely used by VANET are: AODV and AOMDV (multipath) is extension of AODV (single Path) which consider the intermediate participant node to reach the destination whereas in AODV single dedicated path is provided. In case of emergency AOMDV search the alternate route to find the destination and in AODV this option is not available. In many new applications like traffic management and Emergency rescue operations or any other user specific application this protocols is widely used in recent research. In our proposed network we have applied both the above said routing protocol and analyze performance for both the protocols. In this paper performance merits like PDR, PLR, E2E and Throughput has been evaluated and their relative comparison for both AOMDV and AODV routing protocol has been obtained. The result was obtained on NS2.34 simulation platform. These results help us to evaluate comparative performance of both the existing protocols for different city scenario with changing topography and traffic density in the network. Based on these results much user specific application can be developed to find appropriate routing protocol for the network under design.

This work presents the deadbeat control technique to mitigate transient oscillations of dynamics of Inverted pendulum or 1-link robot arm based on Signal Correction Technique (SCT). In SCT a suitable additional or corrected signal is generated and incorporated along with a reference input to the system through the feedback loop. It is pointed out that in some applications, such as biological control systems, it may not always be possible to incorporate a controller inside the system. This technique may be very much useful in realizing the transient performance of a system with SCT based deadbeat control where either incorporation of any controller within the system or processing of the input command is not permitted. The deadbeat representation with state space equations is demonstrated with the reference input as step. The SCT technique, which is considered in this work, is applied to nonlinear system for deadbeat realization without restriction of system parameters and experimental data as long as system is stable. In this work, the model of Inverted Pendulum is selected in the aspect of nonlinear control theory, with an emphasis on feedback linearization. Then the SCT based deadbeat control is implemented after ensuring the stability of the system.

Quarry dust as the major by-product of crushing process during quarrying activities in quarry industry is being used in large scale in highways as a surface finishing material, manufacturing hollow sandcrete blocks and in light weight concrete fabricated elements, for many years. In an effort to use the QD in constructions, research has been carried out for its possible utilization in making concrete as partial replacement of cement. The experimental investigation was performed to evaluate the strength and durability properties of concrete mixes, in which cement was partially replaced with quarry dust (QD) with five percentages (0%, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%) by weight. Compression test was carried out to evaluate the strength properties of concrete at the age of 7, 14, 21 and 28 days. Results showed that there was a decrease in compressive strength with the addition of quarry dust (QD) up to 40% replacement. Resistance of concrete against abrasion (wear), were also improved for all concrete mixes. A result showed that there was better enhanced in strength and durability properties at 20% replacement of cement with Quarry Dust.

Effects of heat absorption and porosity of the medium on unsteady MHD flow past a moving vertical plate with variable wall temperature and mass diffusion in the presence of Hall current is studied here. Earlier we [5] have studied chemical reaction effect on unsteady MHD flow past an impulsively started oscillating inclined plate with variable temperature and mass diffusion in the presence of Hall current. We obtained the results which were in agreement with the desired flow phenomenon. To study further, we are changing the model by considering heat absorbing fluid, and changing the geometry of the model. Here in this paper we are taking the plate positioned vertically upward. Further, medium of the flow is taken as porous. The governing equations involved in the flow model are solved by the Laplace-transform technique. The results obtained have been analyzed with the help of graphs drawn for different parameters. The numerical values obtained for the drag at boundary have been tabulated. Here too, the results are found to be in agreement with the actual flow.

Design and implementation of a low cost control scheme of sensor less Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) for efficiency improvement of pump and compressor is presented in this paper. The main problems of sen-sor less control of PMSM are starting jerk and loss of synchronism during acceleration. Due to absence of rotor position sensor, controller has to start the motor from an arbitrary initial rotor position and mismatch between actual position and assumed position is the principle reason behind starting problem. It is described in this work how a simple modification in motor turn-off process can solve the aforesaid problem. On other hand, loss of syn-chronism problem occurs mainly due to improper selection of rate of change of stator voltage and frequency. The previously described simple procedure is used to determine the optimal rate of change of stator voltage and fre-quency. Experimental results are presented to demonstrate effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
