This article presents ARQ techniques for flow and control at the link level: Stop-and-Wait, Go-back-N, and Selective-reject. Then it is defined an important parameter, necessary for analyzing characteristics of data transmission at the link level and simplified performances of the Go-back-N, and Selective-reject techniques. Main goal of this article refers to defining criteria for choosing proper protocol link control. By this criterion it is necessary to satisfy customer requirements like losses, delays, capacity, etc. By performing simulation (using MATLAB 7.0), comparison of the values of the techniques parameters is done and conclusions about advantages and disadvantages of certain techniques are given.
