The analysis of biometric exterior indicators of haarder in the Azov Sea is given and by example of use of these indicators the calculations for optimization of the parameters of mesh in fishing gear for fish catching in the Ukraine is complete. The calculations show that the minimum mesh size which provides selective catch capacity concerning haarder of commercial measure (more than 38 cm) should be increased in size from 30 mm to 40 mm. In this case, the probability to continue catching of juveniles from 26.8 cm to 38 cm remains, but its share will be significantly less than in case of using adopted now mesh size of 30 mm. The proposed method is recommended for engineering and biological calculations for the design of new gear and improvement of commercial fishing regulations in order to optimize and improve the effectiveness of management of fish stocks. According to control gill net catches, major commercial fishes in middle part of the Kremenchuk reservoir are bream, crucian carp, silver bream, roach, and pikeperch. Bream population structure in catches in 2013 was characterized by widening of its modal range that is related to a decrease of middle age groups. Unstable state of the population and high enough mortality index of bream — 0,74 are first of all related to intensification of fishing effort on these age groups. Structural indices and mortality values of silver bream (0,66), roach (0,60), crucian carp (0,68) in whole correspond to those of balanced populations in conditions of moderate fishing effort. Pikeperch population in catches was represented by 5 age groups only and 71,1 % of its number was represented by age 3 fish. The absence of older age groups at high enough recruitment number also indicates on high fishing effort towards this species. Studied nutrition of Lyubinskui scaly carp fingerlings in the application of measures of intensification of natural forage and the introduction of fodder zooplankton. It is shown that carp fingerlings are ensured of natural food only until mid-July, later in the diet dominated by artificial feed and detritus, and the intensity of nutrition are depended of the feeding.
