  • FOCUS AND SCOPE Revista de Economia, edited by the Economics Department of the Federal University of Paraná since 1960, is the second most long-lived Brazilian economics journal. The journal, a theoretically and methodologically plural publication, welcomes theoretical, historical, and empirical articles, aiming at the dissemination of scientific knowledge through the publication of original studies that expand the research frontiers on the several areas of economics. PEER REVIEW PROCESS Articles submitted for journal consideration initially undergo editor screening, at which point the manuscript is judged according to the journal’s scope and formatting instructions. If the manuscript fails to meet these conditions, it may be subjected to desk rejection. Otherwise, the manuscript is forwarded to anonymous referees, specialists on the subject of the study. Once this process is completed, the referees’ reviews are made available to the authors. OPEN ACCESS POLICY Aiming at the democratization of knowledge, Revista de Economia: (1) does not charge any fees related to the submission, evaluation, or edition processes; (2) offers open and immediate access to all of its content; (3) adopts the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 License. ETHICS CODE AND PUBLICATION BEST PRACTICES In conformity with the guidelines established by the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), which aims at regulating the ethics code of scientific publications, Revista de Economia adopts the following procedures in its editorial policy: Authors: Authors must observe the Instructions for Authors in order to satisfy all the conditions indicated, so that the manuscript might be forwarded to peer review with the aim of being published by the journal. Manuscripts that violate the aforementioned ethics code of scientific publications through means as plagiarism, fraud, duplicate submissions, submission of published manuscripts, data falsification, results fabrication, improper authorship, among others, will be promptly rejected. Editors: Editor must analyze whether or not the manuscript fits into the journal’s scope, standards, ethics code and publication norms. If the manuscript does not satisfy such conditions, it might be rejected on this first stage. If the manuscript does satisfy such conditions, it must be forwarded to anonymous referees, specialists on the subject of the manuscript. The reviews produced by these referees must be made available to the authors at the end of the process. Finally, all manuscripts ought to be treated as confidential documents, in order to guarantee the anonymity of both authors and referees. Referees: Referees must observe potential conflicts of interest in case of previous acquaintance with the manuscript’s authorship, which should not be shared or discussed with third parties. In addition, the manuscript must be evaluated in light of the criteria delineated by the evaluation questionnaire, which will guide the editorial decision to be recommended by the referee. At last, it is also up to the referees to identify the possibility of violation of the ethics code, such as the conducts listed above. Conflict resolution and violation of the ethics code At the submission of a manuscript, authors explicitly acknowledge the absence of any conflict of interests whatsoever, which comprehend personal, commercial, academic, or financial matters. Any violations of the ethics code must be sent to the editor-in-chief, who will forward them to the editorial committee and, if necessary, to the Economics Department of the Federal University of Paraná for appropriate action. Should it be necessary, the journal commits itself to issuing corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies.
