The use of bio-fertilizer is increasing along with the awareness of eco-friendly life style. The use of bio-fertilizer give several advantages such as enhancing plant growth, provide plant nutritions, easily absorbed by plant and environmental friendly. Endophytic fungi can be used as biological fertilizers.In this study, endophytic fungi Penicillium citrinum isolate P3.10 were used as a main ingredient for biological fertilizers. This study aims to investigate: (a) the most effective carrier material for biological fertilizers made from endophytic fungi P. citrinum and (b) maximum shelf-life of biofertilizers. Three carrier materials were tested to find out the best carrier as biological fertilizer carriers. Factorial Completely Randomized Design with two factors used in this study with the first factor is the type of carrier material (rice bran, saw dust, and peat soil), and the second factor is storage time (14, 28, 42, 56, dan 70 days).The result of the study and consideration based on the standards of biological fertilizer regulation of the Minister of Agriculture Number 70 / Permentan / SR.140 / 19/2011) showed that of the three tested carriers (rice bran, sawdust, and peat), peat showed the best performance as biofertilizer carrier with the recommend maximum shelf-life is 28 days (5,62 x 105 cfu/gram) due to its C/N ratio value and its viability to maintain the number of viable fungi.

Climate change is difficult phenomenon to be understood by ordinary community. Whereas perception and knowledge of climate change will influence mitigation and adaptation, which can decrease risks of climate change impact. The research aims to find out community’s perception about climate change and adaptation efforts which have been done by communities of Sarawet Village at North Minahasa Regency. Perception and adaptation data were obtained through interview and focus group discussion. The result shows that 96.67 % of community has experienced the symptoms and impacts of climate change, which perceived as extreme season or the shift of rain and drought season. The most perceived climate change impacts are crop failure, less income from agriculture and drought. This perception indicates a lack of environmental and forestry information. The adaptation efforts that have been done by the community include change plant species that need lack water as well as fulfill needs of clean water from the central well and utilize springs from upstream. Based on SWOT analysis An appropriate strategy to encourage adaptation in Sarawet village is done through increasing the adaptive capacity of the community

This study was aimed to obtain the Pinogu local peoples’s perception of the forest for their lives and to identification of forest resources utilization. Pinogu is a Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park’s enclave. The research was conducted in 2017 at Pinogu Sub-district which included five villages there are Bangiyo, Pinogu Induk, Pinogu Permai, Tilongibila and Dataran Hijau. Data collected with survey method by interviewing 150 respondents from five villages. Data was analyzed using, Likert Scale, Kendall Tau Correlation test and descriptive qualitative. Overall, the results showed forest perception in Pinogu’s local peoples was in fairly good category with value 79.69 from 40 - 100 and influenced by position in village communities variable. The local peoples utilized the forest resources inculdes hard wood, rattan, medicinal plants, wild animals, forest fruits, forest mushrooms, honey. This forest resources obtained from the forests around Pinogu and inside area of Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park.

The development of natural silk has not been optimal because the handling of the problem tends to be general and not adjusted to the socio-economic characteristic of the community. In Soppeng Regency, natural silk is carried out by diverse socio-economic backgrounds of the community that can influence perceptions and motivations in the development of natural silk business. This study aimed to determine the perceptions and motivations in developing natural silk business which is expected to be a formulation material in the preparation of natural silk business policies. The study was conducted in Donri-Donri District as the center of natural silk development in Soppeng Regency. Data collection used survey method and interview. The sampling of respondents used a random sampling method for natural silk farmers. The results of the study indicate that in Soppeng District, the high farmer’s perception of natural silk business are related to socio-economic factors such as the length of residence in the village and gender. The motivation of farmers in natural silk business is generally because natural silk business is easy to implement, technological mastery, and easy to obtain information. Natural silk have big chance to be developed with quality improvement of silkworm seed and silkworm feed. High perception and motivation of community need to be accompanied by the availability of supporting factors so that this business can develop optimally.

The volume estimation model is one of the most important components in developing sustainable forest management. Nowadays, various models for various types of forests in Indonesia have developed. Nevertheless, these models do not represent the type of forest ecosystem in Papua. Therefore, numerous studies are still needed to develop volume estimation model for various types of forests in Papua. This study was aimed to develop timber volume estimation model for commercial tree species in logging concession of PT. Tunas Timber Lestari in Sesnukt District, Boven Digul Regency, Papua Province. A total of 164 trees were chosen to develop the model and 50 trees for model validation. The result showed that diameter did not have a strong correlation with tree height. Therefore, the model should be developed using the combination of diameter and tree height. The best model in the development stage was selected based on the value of coefficient of determination (R2), standard error of the estimate (SEE), and Ftest. The best model in the validation stage was selected based on the value of bias (e), root mean square errors (RMSE), average deviation (SR), aggregative deviation (SA), and χ2test.. The best model for timber volume estimation in PT. Tunas Timber Lestari are V = 0.00007594 D1.978 H0.923.

The aim of this research is to assess the correlation of morphological characteristics of nyamplung seedling (Calophyllum inophyllum L) on field growth of two years age after outplanting in Parungpanjang, Bogor. Three seedlots collected from Carita, Pangandaran and Purworejo were grown in seedbeds with different ages (four months and six months). The seedlings are mixed and grouped according to their height and root collar diameter. Each group of seedlings is divided into 5 height classes and each class is divided into two diameter classes, so there are 10 classes of seed morphology. The parameters of seedling were observed on sturdirness quotient, dry weight, root length, shoot-root ratio, and number of leaves. The seedlings were planted in randomized completely block design (three seeds origins, 10 morphological class, three blocks, 30 seedlings per block). Seedling survival, height, and root collar diameter growth were assessed on two years after outplanting. The result showed that morphological classification affected on seedling survival, height and root collar diameter growth. Seedling height and root collar diameter were significantly correlated with other parameters and also with field growth. Two-year-old Nyamplung on field can grow significantly if we use seedling with a height above 31 cm and a diameter more than 5.1 mm. In addition, the ratio of height and diameter and seed quality index are become important consideration in seed selection.

This study aims to identify macroscopic fungi species in Kelimutu National Park. The method used in this study was a combination of Visual Encounter Survey method in 5 tracking lines at altitude between 1,000 - 1,700 meters above sea level. Based on the results of the survey, there were 46 species of macroscopic fungi from 23 families in Kelimutu National Park. Some species of macroscopic fungi have the potential to be cultivated as food and medicinal ingredients. The existence of this macroscopic fungus has also given a special characteristic of Kelimutu because it only grows at an altitude between ± 1,045 - 1,616 meters above sea level.

Estimation model of tree volume must be high in accuracy and precisions to estimate stand potential precisely. This paper determines and validates the estimation model of Shorea balangeran volume grown in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. There were three phases of model development which include 52 trees for model progress, 23 trees for model validation, and 10 trees for external model validation. The calculation model used linear and non-linear models with diameter, diameter and height, and diameter and height combination as independent variables. The criteria of the best model was determined by statistical analyses such as coefficient determination, relative and aggregative deviation, bias, precisions and accuracy of estimation, AIC (Akaike’s Information Criterion). The result of the study showed that the model with diameter as single variable was not complied with the selected best model criteria (aggregative deviation; AD< 1 % and relative deviation: RD< 8 %). The addition of tree height on model estimation increased the coefficient determination of 6.54% and the model with diameter and height as independent variable was satisfied with the criteria (AD and RD criteria). The best model of Balangeran was with coefficient determination of 89.77 %. However, the best model was not applicable for other sites with different stand characteristics

Some people still thinks that bamboo has a low economic value. Many bamboo plants in the community are removed or replaced with other commodities. Sukaharja Village in Ciamis Regency is one of the centers that produce of bamboo. The community feels the economic benefits of the existence of the bamboo, so the existence of bamboo plants is still sustained. Bamboo management in Sukaharja Village can be used as a learning for bamboo farmers in other places. The study aims to determine the potential of agroforestry bamboo in Sukaharja Village. Potency of bamboo was collected by survey method. The observation plot was made as many as 39 plots. Vegetation observation and measurement was done by census (100 %) in all selected land area so that all types of compiler can be known. Parameters recorded/measured were bamboo species, number of clumps, number of tillers, number of young stems, number of old stems, stem height and stem circumference. Data related to socioeconomic obtained through interview. Respondents interviewed was chosen purposively by 69 respondents. Secondary data was obtained from literature study and data from agencies that are related to research objectives, such as District Forestry office, village office, and Agricultural Extension Agency, Fisheries, Livestock and Forestry. Bamboo in Sukaharja Village has a potential of 765 bamboo stems per hectare with 53 % composition of young bamboo and 47 % old bamboo, dominated by 92 % Gigantlochoa apus. Bamboo in Sukaharja village can be sustainable because it is cultivated with agroforestry pattern. The pattern of bamboo agroforestry in Sukaharja village community is a) Bamboo + wood, b) Bamboo + HHBK, c) Bamboo + plantation crop, d) Bamboo + horticulture.

The purpose of this study is to know the potential diversity of wild fauna (birds, butterflies, reptils, and mammals) in THAL. Inventory of mammal, reptile, and butterfly using line transect method while birds were observed by Ponctuels d'Abundance Indices method (IPA). The results showed that the potential fauna can be found in THAL as many as 49 species consisting of 36 species of birds, eight species of butterflies, three species of reptiles, and three species of mammals. From 49 fauna species at least nine species were endemic to Sulawesi and 11 species protected by Indonesian law. In the future development of THAL area, it is expected that management will conserve the condition of wildlife habitat in order to stay natural.

The multisectoral, multidisciplinary, multi-stakeholder and multidimensional watersheds problems are the consequences of multifunctional watersheds. The complexity of these problems demanding a system and management approach that appropriate with the characteristics and typology of the watershed. This study aims to analyze the characteristics and typology of Mapili watershed West Sulawesi Province. This research was conducted using surveys, primary, and secondary data collection. Application of geographic information system (GIS) with overlay maps and scoring was used. The results showed that Mapili biogeophysical characterization includes meteorology, morphology, morphometry, hydrology, watershed capability and socioeconomic, cultural and institutional characterization will influence the system of Mapili watershed management. Mapili watershed can be classified into two typology watershed, namely: typology II, which has a low total population density (97 people/km2) with high rainfall (>2500 mm/yr); and typology IV, which has a high total population density (377 people/km2) with low rainfall (<1500 mm/yr). Both typologies have different characteristics of watershed problems. Typology II is generally located in the central area and upstream Mapili and Typology IV are located in the downstream areas of Mapili watershed.

Non-timber forest products (NTFPs) are forest resources which have comparative advantage and in direct contact with the community. Masoi (Cryptocarya masoia) is one of mainstay Papua NTFPs. This essential oil that produced through bark distillation, used as aromatic raw materials for food, medicines, perfume,s and aromatherapy. The demands of masoi oil are high for domestic and foreign market. This study aimed to formulate development strategy of masoi as non-timber forest products in Teluk Bintuni regency, Papua Barat Province, by identifying external factors (Opportunities, threats) and internal factors (strengths, weaknesses). The research applied SWOT analysis methods by identifying external factors (EFAS) and internal factors (IFAS) as strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Based on SWOT analysis which conducted by calculate score of external factors and internal factors, the suitable strategy was WO strategy which utilized opportunities to suppress the weaknesses at third quadrant. The third quadrant tended turn around by 1). Socialization and training of masoi cultivation on indigenous people, 2). Legal Counseling to increase legal awareness of the community to overcome land disputes.

Bear cuscus (Ailurops ursinus) which is vulnerable in the IUCN Redlist, is one of the endemic protected animal that lives in the lowland forests of Sulawesi. This research aimed to identify habitat characteristics, diet, and daily activities of bear cuscus in Tanjung Peropa Wildlife Reserve, Southeast Sulawesi. This research was carried out from February to March 2017. Habitat characteristics were identified using vegetation analysis, diet were identified using direct and non-direct observation, and daily activities were identified using ad-libitum sampling. The highest important value index of tree at the Mobula path and Mata Air path were Pisonia umbellifera (28.33 %) and Chisocheton ceramicus (44.72 %), respectively. The vegetation species diversity was high and the vegetation species evenness was distributed. A total of 80 species of plants were recorded which are the potential diet of bear cuscus. The highest percentage parts of plants that bear cuscus consumed were shoot (36.19 %) and young leaves (36.19 %). Bear cuscus daily activities were resting (89.05 %), moving (5.83 %), foraging (2.71 %), and feeding (2.41%). Bear cuscus preferred the C stratum of vegetation for their daily activities.

This research aimed to analyze the effectiveness of institusional and policy on private forest. The research was conducted in Banjarnegara and Banyumas Regency in August 2012 - May 2013. The methods used in this study are structured interview, open interview and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Assessment of institutional effectiveness was done to government institutional, marketing institututional, and farmer institutional using recommended indicator namely: 1) user and resource boundaries, 2) appropriation and provision, 3) collective-choice arrangements, 4) monitoring, 5) graduated sanctions, 6) conflict-resolution mechanisms, and 7) recognition of appropriators’ rights to organize. The collected data were processed using likert scale and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that effectiveness of institutional in Kabupaten Banjarnegara and Banyumas Regency was moderate condition (quite effective). The effectiveness of private forest policy is seen from four policy viewpoints: policy accuracy, policy implementation, target accuracy, and environmental accuracy. Private forest policy in Kabupaten Banjarnegara is effective based on policy accuracy and environmental accuracy, while private forest policy in Banyumas Regency is effective based on target accuracy and environmental accuracy. This difference in assessment is due to the different of policy or program at the location according to the condition and the desire of community.

Macaca ochreata is one of Sulawesi endemic primates, which are distributed only in Southeast Sulawesi. This study aimed to identify habitat characteristics and estimated Macaca ochreata population was conducted in February until March of 2017 at Kalobo Block Forest, Tanjung Peropa Wildlife Reserve (TPWR). Habitat characteristics were identified using vegetation analysis and population was estimated by concentration count method. The highest Important Value Index of trees were Pangium edule, Artocarpus elastica, and Meliostoma nitida which were Macaca ochreata’s food plants. There were 33 species of 17 families of Macaca’s food plants on the study site. Macaca ochreata were found in trees with stratum B and stratum C. A total of 4 groups of Macaca ochreata encountered consisting 56 individuals. Population density of Macaca ochreata was 22,4 individu/km2.
