Dezvoltarea educației în domeniul asistenților medicali reprezintă, cel puțin pentru România, o provocare permanentă pentru generații de profesori și elevi/studenți din ultimii ani. E ușor de remarcat faptul că evoluția de la pregătirea în cadrul liceelor sanitare (înainte de 1989), până la pregătirea în cadrul universităților unde există inclusiv posibilitatea de a urma un masterat este – nu numai una firească – dar și una care poate ridica probleme majore referitor la persoanele capabile să îi instruiască pe viitorii asistenți medicali. Dacă din punct de vedere al calității pregătirii teoretice evoluția pentru disciplinele de specialitate este – fără îndoială una favorabilă, în cazul pregătirii de strictă specialitate în domeniul îngrijirii pacienților, cooptarea asistenților medicali în echipa de educatori a suferit în permanență de problema nivelului de pregătire a asistenților medicali educatori, astfel încât aceștia să poată să fie cooptați în structurile educaționale.

Since 1983, with the discovery of H. pylori, gastrointestinal pathology has evolved through many concepts: epidemiological, clinical, etiologic and therapeutic, even culminating with the transfer of this pathology from the category of non-communicable diseases in the communicable diseases. Aim: This study aims to compare the risk factors involved in the development of H. pylori infection in three groups of people: the first including healthy patients, uninfected with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori and without any digestive disorder, the second group consists of patients with digestive disorders but not infected with Helicobacter pylori, and the third group consists of patients with digestive diseases in which the bacterium Helicobacter pylori was detected. The determinant and favouring risk factors were: alcohol, coffee, smoking, as well as the provenience (urban, rural) of the respondents.

This article is a summary of clinical and experimental studies conducted in the detection of aluminium toxicity. Aluminium is the most abundant metal on earth neurotoxic effect, and in many works already demonstrated its involvement in the onset of Alzheimer's disease. In this study we investigated the effects of aluminium toxicity in the respiratory system, the osteo-articular system, cutaneous and haematological level.

Scarlet fever is an acute infectious disease caused by toxin-producing group A beta-haemolytic streptococci, with favourable evolution with proper and precocious treatment, but with risk for serious complications; the incidence is highest in children; antibiotics prophylaxis of the contacts is necessary to prevent the spread of the disease. The aim of the study was to evaluate some epidemiological and clinical aspects in scarlet fever with a view to improve precocious diagnosis and to emphasize the necessity of a constantly epidemiological monitoring in children communities. It is a retrospective study, achieved on 1314 patients admitted for scarlet fever in Infectious Diseases Hospital of Brasov between 2007-2013. The conclusions showed that scarlet fever has a persistent morbidity, prevails in children (97.10% cases), to persons from urban environment (81.2% cases), attending a school community – kindergarten (86.52% cases). Throat culture was positive in 56% cases.

When a child has a life-threatening and limiting illness, health care professionals who provide the care may develop burn-out syndrome, meaning ”extinction of motivation or stimulus, especially when commitment to a cause doesn’t bring the expected results”. Aim: identification of burnout syndrome for staff from onco-paediatrics departments, ICU and paediatric palliative care units. Method: Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) was done in 5 medical units from Brasov and Bucharest. MBI shows 3 domain: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, low level of personal achievements. SPSS 11 was used for analysing the data. Results: 170 health care professionals received the questionnaire, response rate 75.8%. The domain most influenced was personal achievements (83.75% high and moderate burn-out), followed by depersonalization (75.97%) and emotional exhaustion (39.54%). Most of the respondents (73.64%) don’t recognize theirs need of specialized support.

Tuberculosis is a classic example of a social disease. In the first half of the twentieth century in Romania, tuberculosis morbidity recorded in official statistics tens of thousands of patients, number far exceeded by the values assumed to be real. Tuberculosis mortality reached 10% of overall mortality. These data justifies the fight held against this social scourge, struggling in which were involved medical and political figures of the time. Although theoretical initiatives have been remarkable, the material possibilities were unable to keep pace.

We present a case of boy 2 years old, diagnosed initially with left orbital pseudotumor and lymphocytosis. After tumor removal, its histopathology and immunophenotyping of bone marrow aspirate sample was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia . Ocular damage is a rare manifestation of acute lymphoblastic leukemia onset in child.

Identification of quick and cheap methods in order to analyse specific heavy metal ions has wide applications in analytical toxicology. Enzyme biosensors meet these requirements, and optimization of these detection methods is an area of actual interest for electrochemical research. We optimized the methods for detection of metal ions (cadmium and lead), which could be tested in future for real samples of water, food or biological fluids.

BACKGROUND. Metabolic syndrome associates central obesity, hypertension, dyslipidaemia and glucose intolerance is highly prevalent in individuals with schizophrenia. The prevalence of MS varies across countries and psychiatric treatments. AIMS. The study has proposed the creation of a prospective study of the prevalence of metabolic syndrome in a group of patients with schizophrenia diagnosed according to DSM IV criteria, hospitalized in Psychiatry and Neurology - Brasov in January - December 2012. METHODS. Each hospitalized patient with schizophrenia was evaluated in terms of the presence or absence of metabolic syndrome components after signing informed consent. This resulted in a group of 50 patients who were analyzed in terms of socio-demographic variables (gender, age, residence, marital status, educational status, professional status, use of nicotine, alcohol), psychopathological variables (type of schizophrenia period of development of disease onset, age at onset, current antipsychotic medication), history family history (diabetes, obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia) and treatment history. RESULTS. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome was higher in women (60%), aged between 22 and 60 years (mean age 43.8 years). History-Side are significant in 30% of patients with metabolic syndrome group was highly significant (p <0.05) when associated at least 2 metabolic risk factors in first degree relatives 1. CONCLUSIONS. Prevalence of metabolic syndrome in patients with schizophrenia in the general group studied was relatively high. Among patients with metabolic syndrome was the most common triad association between elevated BP, the waist circumference and increased serum triglycerides. The most common combination of two risk factors for metabolic syndrome was increased waist circumference with increased serum triglycerides.

The abortion phenomena remains one of the most complex issues of our present society. It’s complexity consists not only in the ongoing debate on legal, medical, religious and moral terms but also in the involvement of numerous social groups such as: the pregnant women, the fetus seen both as a human and a non-human entity, the medical staff, the Church and the state itself. This debate is carried among two different groups, the pro-life supporters, who consider the act of abortion as being ‘a crime’ and the pro-choice ones who support the women’s right to decide whether they want to bring a fetus to term or not. A common ground between these groups is still difficult to set

Combination of microscale or nanoscale materials with biomolecules presents a great interest in medicine, environment, biotechnology and food industries. This paper presents two oxidoreductases (tyrosinase and laccase) and their applications as enzymatic biosensors for specific biomolecules detection. Electrochemical biosensors with laccase and tyrosinase, are a promising technology for in-situ monitoring of phenolic compounds, because of their advantages such as high selectivity, low production costs, high-speed response, the potential of miniaturization and simple instrumentation.

Am descoperit în urmă cu câtva timp teoria profesorului Goleman despre Inteligența Emoțională. Ne-am propus mereu să abordăm cu obiectivitate, inteligență și, adesea, chiar cu claritate problemele care ne înconjoară, dar la începutul anilor 2000 apare o nouă teorie. "Marea revoluție a anilor 2000 constă în revanșa sentimentelor asupra inteligenței", spune autorul ei, profesorul Daniel Goleman, psiholog și jurnalist renumit, care în luna septembrie a acestui an va fi prezent la București. Cu toate acestea, dihotomia introdusă între intelect și emoție pare a fi la fel de neproductivă ca și considerarea priorității unuia sau celuilalt dintre factori în dezvoltarea personalității individuale. Plecând de la un citat din Antoine de Saint Exupery: „Bine nu poți vedea decât cu sufletul; ceea ce este esențial este invizibil pentru ochi”, profesorul Goleman construiește o teorie conform căreia inteligența emoțională este cea care ne asigură succesul în viață sau la locul de muncă. Cu toate acestea, acum, când o nouă generație de absolvenți vor părăsi băncile școlii, nu pot să nu mă întreb dacă aceștia sunt pregătiți, nu numai din punct de vedere profesional dar și pentru a deveni viitorii conducători în domeniul medical. Oare inteligența emoțională le e suficientă sau în acest domeniu e nevoie de mai mult decât atât? Diferența între un medic bun și unul foarte bun, dintre o asistentă medicală bună și una foarte bună sau dintre un balneofizio-kinetoterapeut bun și unul foarte bun este dată cu certitudine atât de nivelul cunoștințelor profesionale cât și de empatia de care dau dovadă în fața pacienților. Dar, nici inteligența nici empatia nu sunt suficiente; e nevoie de caracter, de o structură morală care să armonizeze inteligența și empatia.

Heterotopic ossification is defined as abnormal bone formation in extraskeletal soft tissues where bone normally does not exist, for example muscles tendons, skin and organs. In the last decades a great interest of this pathology was given to the heterotopic ossification what occur after hip replacement operations. This is due to the gradual increase in the frequency of such interventions and repercussions that this condition untreated may have. The two current main prophylactic methods widely used for heterotopic ossification prophylaxis are radiation therapy which can be used either preoperatively or postoperatively and prophylaxis with NSAIDs. Both prophylaxis methods can be effective but they can lead to some adverse effects to the patient.

Forensics is an independent branch of medical practice, its role being to establish and determine the truth through forensic act; it brings a special contribution, on one hand to judicial institutions in determining and establishing judicial truth and on the other hand to medical institutions by reflecting existing problems in public health care. Professional and moral-ethical duty of forensic medical experts is to determine the sequence of medical acts, which they construe in order to determine and formulate a truth. The latter is established by expertise and is useful to solve a presented legal issue.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis, affecting millions of people around the world. OA involves the articular cartilage, the subchondral bone and synovium. Causes include aging joints, previous injuries, and obesity among others. Symptoms of OA include joint pain and swelling, stiffness in the morning, limited range of motion. OA treatment depends on the affected joint but often includes medication and exercise, and sometimes surgery. OA gradually worsens with time, but osteoarthritis treatments can slow the progression of the disease, relieve pain and improve joint function.

Nurses participate in patient care by conducting their own specific activities or tasks delegated to them. As nurses participate in sampling for tests, it is important to know the role of bio-chemical, microbiological or haematological tests in establishing the correct diagnosis by physicians A questionnaire was devised in order to assess nursing students’ knowledge of the various aspects related to the influence of external factors on laboratory tests. The questionnaire was administered to 50 first year and another 50 fourth year nursing students. Results were compared to those of tests taken by 50 registered nurses from hospitals of Braşov. A shortened and slightly modified questionnaire was administered to 50 patients undergoing sampling of biological matters for a range of different situations. Comparative presentation of the statistically processed collected data revealed similarities and differences of the responses. The necessity of improving patient information actions emerged, such as to emphasize the importance of preventing various affections and, within this context, of medical tests and factors possibly influencing test results.

The most popular mobile platform is Android, which is a Linux based Operating System and allows creations of applications in eSourcing using a Java Interface. The eSourcing techniques facilitate online negotiations and it is developed on a web based platform. Android and eSourcing together allows to a businessman to save time in making a transparent negotiation and he can also provide or receive real-time information. The paper presents a new vision regarding Android Applications using eSourcing techniques and Java web technologies, which permits access the web application Android eSourcing- the future of auction in order to buy or sell online products in every field as health, pharmaceutics, sport, furniture, etc. This application offers the possibility to see the products list, with high quality products supervised by administrator. Every auction is timed and after it ends, the winner receives the product details in his personal Android account. This application uses a MySQL Database and an Apache Server.

Objectives. Placenta praevia, cervical insufficiency and premature rupture of membranes are well known causes of abortion and prematurity. On this background it was added the umbilical cord prolapse that caused acute foetal distress and, in general terms, could generate perinatal mortality. This case analysis can improve the outcome of similar cases in the future. Material and Method Analysis of observation records of a 37 years old pregnant women, admitted to the Clinic Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Brasov in 2 episodes, first hospitalization lasting for 8 days and the 2nd hospitalization lasting 91 days, the reason for hospitalization in both admissions were the vaginal bleeding. During the 2nd admission, there were assessed and monitored the foetal and maternal parameters. Results The very strict monitoring and maintenance of pregnancy during hospitalization, with special efforts made by the mother and the health professionals, have resulted in reaching a gestational age that allowed the extraction of a viable foetus at 29 weeks of gestational age and weighing 1360g, with excellent new-born development at the time of hospital discharge and after. Conclusions The pregnancy was finally completed successfully with the birth of a viable foetus at 29 weeks. Careful monitoring of pregnant women with prolonged bed rest, administration of antispasmodics, tocolytics, antibiotics and cortisone resulted in optimal prolonging of the pregnancy that was supplementary complicated by a premature rupture of membranes. The promptly diagnosis and management of the umbilical cord prolapse resulted in rescuing the foetus.

Abortion is one of the most debated subjects of nowadays’ bioethics, being as well one of the most intricate. Abortion is still viewed as a taboo in many countries, especially because the points of view are diametrical opposed, no matter the education level, the socio-economic status, the age, gender or religion of the involved persons are. The absence of consensus and not reaching one makes from abortion, ethically as well as morally, one of the most controversial problems, based on pro and contra arguments and also on the numerous legislation amendments, often influenced by the demographic politics or ideological concepts. Blamed and considered an immoral issue by some people, encouraged and considered moral by others, abortion has been illegal and punished by the law of many institutions or societies or has been sustained and legalized.

The paper aims to study how to monitor normal and pathological breast mammography following: regularity that made control of mammography, the age at which patients have the latest mammogram performed, criteria to be classified Bi-rads score, monitoring of breast lesions on mammograms successive and correlation of Bi-rads score with recommendations after mammography. Our study made use of mammography as a simple, reproductible, with low radiation and useful for comparative monitoring. Monitoring by mammography, ultrasound and its combination, depending on patients' age, history, breast density, hormone replacement therapies and associated Birads score of lesions present.
