The role of tutor is very important in the modern conditions of social and humanitarian crisis in society and as well as in the system of higher education. The author focuses on the competence of subjects of pedagogic activities (tutors, deputy dean for pedagogical affairs) understanding their deep knowledge of the theoretical basis of pedagogical work and psychology of student’s development during the late
adolescence, as well as their ability to efficiently carry out pedagogical activities, to analyze the results of the latter and to make adjustments to redefine the organization of educational work. The tutor of the academic group, defining the level of students’ educatedness, should understand that «the characteristic border of moral development at this age is the strengthening of the conscious motives of behavior.
According to the European educational standards, a tutor today serves as the facilitator and coordinator of educational and pedagogic actions of a student, has spiritual and cultural support for the formation of his/her personality, and therefore appears to be a key figure of the subject-subject relationship with the student in the educational and pedagogical process. In many national universities a lecturer begins to fill his activities with new content – academic advisor, tutor (tutor of an individual student or a group of students), supervisor of educational programs.
These lecturer’s activities are aimed at the quality of education. And it is here that we can observe the contradictory position that takes some of the academic teaching staff of the institution: they provide students only with educational services and completely deny pedagogical influence on the student’s personality. This position is false as today the education itself is a value. The lecturer, who often serves as the tutor of the academic group, is responsible for creating conditions for the student so that the latter could want to become a professional as well as a personality.
