This article provides an analysis of particular indicators of the social/economic development of the city of Sochi during the period of preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, as well as of major trends in its development during the post-Olympic period. Based on the experience of staging the Olympic Games in other countries, the effective use of Olympic legacy is one of the most complex objectives which it is not always so easy to resolve. All this points to the need for working out and implementing an effective city (municipal) target program for, at least, the mid-run, its target indicators expected to improve the effectiveness of employing the created Olympic infrastructure and boost the competitiveness of the city of Sochi as a tourist center.

This article examines the tourism industry of the Russian Federation as one of the most promising sectors of Russia’s economy through the example of Krasnodar Krai, which is currently one of Russia’s most successful tourism regions. The region is distinguished by a high share of investment flowing into the tourism sphere, and already today Krasnodar Krai has access to the international tourism arena. The article identifies topical issues of an organizational/legal character which are stifling the full-scale employment of all the advantages of making use of special tourism/recreation economic zones.

Sustainable tourism development meets the needs of present tourists and host regions while protecting and increasing the options for the future. It has led to management of all resources, so as to meet the economic, social and aesthetic needs while maintaining cultural integrity, the most important ecological processes, biological diversity and the processes that make life possible. (World Tourism Organization). Sustainable tourism products are products that work in accordance with the local environment, society and culture so as to have the environment, society and culture has benefited, and they became the victims of tourism development. Currently we can to happiness; especially in industrialized countries observed in a wide range of tourist activities is also increasing concern about the so-called Industrial Tourism aimed at exploring technical monuments. This form of tourism was initially the domain of a narrow range of technically-based supporters, but gradually becomes increasingly attractive to a wider public. In the paper we present selected examples of conversion options such as conservation and new utilization of rule the decaying industrial heritage, not only in Czech Republic but also in other European countries. Almost every city can be found industrial area or at least a few large objects that after the completion of the original production remained without adequate recovery. Although not strictly a registered cultural monuments, it is often interesting buildings completing the character of the place. The above example of the Czech Republic, the new use of the Vitkovice Ironworks and other similar sites can serve as inspiration for the cities concerned.

The article describes the Georgian mountainous regions as the most special part of Svaneti. Unfortunately, Svaneti economic development is hampered, due to its unfavorable physical and geographical locational factors. Svaneti economic development highly depends on tourism sphere in this part of Georgia, herewith this region has all natural factors in order to be Georgia’s leading tourist city and accomplice development of international tourism in Georgia. The main idea of the article is to familiarize the public with the unique Svaneti tourism potential, which includes: - Consideration about Svaneti’s natural unique landscapes and possibilities of touristic development; - Display of Svaneti’s mineral sources and perspectives of health-resort thrift; - Historical-ethnographic peculiarities of this region and cultural tourism development; - Ideal conditions for alpinism. The authors notice that the developing of communication skills is very important too. The modernization of designated tourism directions (ecotourism, resort, cultural alpinism) will accomplice local population to improve the tourist services.

This article shares the findings of an analysis of some current definitions of the term “tourist destination” and the major characteristics of the concept. The author singles out three major approaches to defining and construing the content of the term “tourist destination”: territorial, economic, and service/technological, which are distinguished by being static and not focused on processes in the internal development of tourist destinations. The author proposes using a dynamic approach to the analysis of tourist destinations, aimed at fostering their client-orientedness.

Karst caves are the largest caves in terms of length. They produce many kilometer-long and multi-storey complex cave systems, wherein you can now and then encounter lakes, waterfalls, stalactites, stalagmites, and other karst forms. In Georgia, there are up to 1500 caves of this kind (many explored). Karst sites are mainly found in the Western part of Georgia. Georgia’s caves are also rich in subterranean waters and lakes. You can also come across rivers that feed on subterranean waters but run underground. Such rivers are called karstic. There are also stalactites and stalagmites in Georgia’s caves. Caves have their specific microclimate and fauna. During the Stone Age, people dwelled in caves as well. Caves are also used for water supply, refrigeration, tourism, and for other purposes. Since antiquity, Georgian caves have been of interest to explorers. Georgia is a country of caves and abysses. Karstic relief takes up almost 7% of Georgia’s territory. Krastic reliefs play an important role in the development of tourism in Georgia. It is known that mainly in highly developed countries the tourism industry actively engages cave resources, which brings in considerable profit. Among them, of especial value is speleotherapy.

The article examines the possibilities of resort development, considering thermal resources. In winter soft, moderately soft and moderately cold thermal zones were detected, in summer very warm, warm, moderately warm and moderately cold ones. The external impact of equivalent temperatures, expressed in the air temperature, humidity, the effect of wind and solar complex radiation on human body was considered. The comfort conditions of Kakhetia Region climate therapy, heliotherapy and aerotherapy are evident in July.
