Svaneti – is a mountainous region, falling to the west. Ushguli village is approximately 2100 meters above the sea level, the district center Mestia is at a height of 1400 meters from the sea, the Enguri, on the border of Eastern and Western Svaneti – 1200 meters, the merger Was and Inguri – 900 meters, the village Khaishi – a total of 600. Historically, the Upper Svaneti is divided into East and West, in other words on the Free and Princely. At the time, the princes of Dadeshkeliani could subdue the Western Svan communities to the river of Darla, but has not progressed further, and Darla became the border between the two Svaneti. In turn, the Dadiani princes conquered Lower Svaneti, but was not able to pass the pass the Sun, which became the boundary between the Lower and Upper Svaneti. As a result, the Eastern (Freestyle) Svaneti reached our time in a more archaic state, with a more traditional way of life and with a large number of stone buildings, which include temples and Svan towers. Here there are the most interesting objects and tourists concentrate their attention on this Svaneti.

The territory of Georgia is proud of its monuments of architecture, which delight visitors with its grandeur, antiquity and style. From the first centuries of our era, there was rooted the new religion – Christianity, which is the decisive factor in shaping the style and ritual elements and religious buildings. Christian monuments have long stood out the most complicated architectural compositions, refinement, decoration, frescoes and reliefs diversity. The history of Georgian architecture includes the different stages of development, while retaining its individualism specific era. The extant old churches and monasteries create the perfect base for the development of cultural, religious and educational tourism.

Tourism can transcend administrative borders by bringing people closer together through the understanding of different cultures, heritages, and beliefs. Therefore, it is potentially one of the most important tools for promoting peace among the peoples of the world. The relations between Serbia and Croatia are very important for the stability of Southeastern Europe. The violent breakup of Yugoslavia at the beginning of the 1990s destroyed and severed the relations between two largest Yugoslav republics, and more importantly, relations between Serbs and Croats. Tourism development can be an efficient means for promoting peace in both these countries. In recent years, the tourism development strategy of Croatia has included efforts in trying to evoke the nostalgic and other forgotten feelings that Serbian tourists have with regard to Croatian islands and beaches. The fact that the number of Serbian tourists continued to grow over the years, especially on the Croatian Adriatic, best speaks of the success of that strategy. This paper presents the result of a survey that was conducted from December 2012 to March 2014 on 850 residents from Serbia. The study is focused on determining the image that Croatia has with potential tourists from Serbia.
