Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate prevalence and patterns of psychiatric disorders in preschool children (at or below 72 months of age) consecutively referred to a state hospital’s child psychiatry outpatient clinic in Trabzon, Turkey. Materials and Methods: Diagnostic assessment was conducted using a semi-structured instrument, Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School Age Children-Present and Lifetime Version (K-SADS-PL). If needed, developmental evaluation was conducted using Denver Developmental Screening Test II (DDST). 200 preschool children (122 males, 61%; 78 females, 39%) with an age range of 17-72 months (48.52±13.44 months) were included in the study. Results: More than half of the subjects (n=130; 65%) received at least one psychiatric diagnosis. Of the children 34 % (68/200) met criteria for two or more diagnoses. Of males 71% (87/122), and of girls 55% (43/78) received at least one diagnosis. There were significant differences between boys and girls with regard to rates of overall psychopathology (p=0,0309) and rates of comorbidity (p=0,0022). Most frequent diagnoses were attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (n=54; 27%), language and speech disorders (n=34; 17%), anxiety disorders (n=33; 16.5%) and oppositional defiant disorder (n=21; 10.5%). Discussion and Conclusion: Findings of this study suggest that preschool children presenting to psychiatry clinics may have high rates of psychopathology and comorbidity that may be a source of concern for the subjects and parents. Boys are more likely to have multiple psychiatric diagnoses. Psychopathology in preschool children can be assessed using structured instruments such as K-SADS.

Aim: We aimed to present the obstetric outcomes of pregnancies of women with Wilson’s disease. Materials and Methods: Clinical records related to the six pregnancies experienced by four women with Wilson’s disease who were followed at our clinic were reviewed retrospectively. The features of these pregnant women, the clinical course of the pregnancies, the treatment methods applied, and the fetal and maternal outcomes were investigated in the light of relevant literature. Results: The median age of the pregnant women and the median gestational week at delivery were 33.5 years (25-37) and 19 weeks (10-38), respectively. Three pregnancies were terminated in the first trimester, one pregnancy was terminated in the second trimester and 3 pregnancies were terminated in the third trimester. Ablatio placentae, acute fetal distress, missed abortion, and therapeutic abortion were observed as the cause of termination. Discussion and Conclusion: Wilson’s disease is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder characterized by the accumulation of toxic amounts of copper, particularly in the liver, brain, kidneys and cornea, as a result of defective biliary copper excretion. It causes miscarriages and infertility. Patients should be strictly monitored and receive appropriate treatment to minimize the maternal and fetal complications.

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine how the College of Health Sciences students express their anger and the related factors that affect it. Materials and Methods: The population of the study comprises all of the students of a private College of Health Sciences in Istanbul (N=1116). Students (n=408) who agreed to participate in the study were included in the study, without sample selection. A “Student Information Form” and the “Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale” were used to collect the data. To evaluate the data, SPSS Version 16.0 was used, in addition to the descriptive statistical parameters (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum, and frequencies) and to Student’s t-test, Spearman’s correlation test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: The students’ mean trait-anger score was found as 20.55 ± 4.97, mean anger-control subscale score 20.88 ± 4.52, mean anger-out subscale score 14.44 ± 3.17, and mean anger-in subscale score 15.07 ± 3.87. When the mean Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale subscale scores were assessed with the students’ characteristics, no statistically significant relation was found between the mean Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale subscale scores and characteristics such as gender, family structure, smoking, alcohol use, relationships with friends and mother description. Discussion and Conclusion: Expressed anger is one of the important emotional reactions that can be given at any age. Thus the detection of problems associated with anger expression and the provision of appropriate support during a student’s educational life is quite important for the student’s personal and professional development.

Tracheobronchomegaly, first described in 1932 by Mounier–Kuhn, is a well-known clinical and radiological entity characterized by marked weakness of the trachea. It can be congenital or acquired. Some well-known inflammatory and infectious conditions have been associated with the acquired form. Endotracheal intubation can traumatize the trachea and usually results in focal stenosis, but may infrequently cause focal tracheobronchomegaly. It is not clearly understood why some cases result in stenosis and others in dilatation. This study reports the case of a patient whose clinical course was complicated by the development of intrathoracic focal tracheobronchomegaly during mechanical ventilation.

Mediastinal bronchogenic cysts are uncommon and mostly asymptomatic. The diagnosis can be made by computed tomography (CT), and the treatment is surgical resection. In this case series, we present four cases of patients with mediastinal bronchogenic cysts who were treated with surgical resection.
