A new year begins for everybody and also for the journal “Dominio de las Ciencias”, which this time delivers the first issue of volume 2 for the period January-March. We are exhilarated to have received the ISSN register from the “Secretaría Nacional de Educación Superior, Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación (SENESCYT)”, which was one of the goals we set last year. I want to thank, on behalf of the Editorial and Scientific Board and the Journal’s Support Group, the officials of this honorable institution, and in particular to the esteemed Engr. Vanessa Quishpe, who with her thoughtful recommendations has contributed to improving the Editorial management carried out.

Due to the importance that quality measurement requires in tourism, a research project is executed aiming to give an operative character and to model the concept “perceived quality from the hotel service”, parting from the approach to the process, applying the EVALPROC model. A validation strategy for the used tools was made through descriptive statistic, consulting experts, and the analysis-synthesis method. The results showed the existing relationship between the stages of the model. The principle stating that the quality is within the processes was proved. The model’s exploratory capacity and the wide range of possibilities that the use of dichotomic variables to measure the quality of the service was tested. A new way to analyze the results was given, which allowed to adjust the decision-making process regarding strategies. The measurement model and procedures showed content validity, of concurrent criterion and convergent construct; as well as a high global reliability. The model application and its procedures proved the parting hypothesis that states that with better behavior of the attributes in each one of the dimensions, an improved performance of the latter comes; and, that the service quality perceived by the external client is a function of the behavior of the ‘process’ dimension, which at the same time is a function of the ‘structure’ dimension, which is a function of the ‘entrance’ dimension.

The presented article summarizes the results of a research aimed to studying causes of poor family support to the educational process of Municipal Education Unit of canton Chone. For the research study a hypothesis that verifies the limited knowledge of parents about the educational process was designed, teachers do not have full knowledge of the educational model of their institution, which means that there is no empowerment of this one. This situation leads to the no socialization and therefore to the no work with the institutional objectives and goals, so it was designed the following proposal: Guide to design curricular tools to involve families in the educational process.

Diseases transmitted by Aedes vectors are seen all around the world over the last recent years. They all are considered as a threat of the globalization. In this article an update of Chikungunya has been made, this fever transmitted by arbovirus vectors type is in risk of being introduced in the Americas due to the distribution and density of those vectors in the area and the susceptibility of the population. This imported pathology constitutes a challenge in our midst for doctors, dentists, epidemiologists and all the different health professionals due to the risk it implies for the society. The disease is characterized by certain manifestations such as: fever, joint pain, maculopapular lesions and some oral manifestations. The objective of this research is to identify this pathology and highlight the lesions that may appear. A contribution to the prevention and promotion of this disease can be carried out based on this research.

The presented article shows the results of a research aimed to determine how socioeconomic conditions affect learning, taking the basic cycle of Integral Education Unit "Cinco de Mayo" Canton Chone in Ecuador as a case study. The obtained results have allowed to establish that even though the specialized literature on the subject concludes that better socioeconomic conditions lead to higher learning outcomes, this is not always the case. It was determined that there are other factors that under certain conditions create a synergy that allows the absorption of the negative influence that adverse socioeconomic conditions can have over the learning, such as emotional stability at home and support from parents in school activities.

This paper aims to design a model of industrial security and occupational health in “Comercial Moreira S.A.”, in order to prevent risks of work accidents, raising the degree of physical, mental and social welfare of the workers as well as to reduce incidences of the inherent operational costs. General methods such as analysis-synthesis, deduction-induction and empirical methods such as literature review, direct observation, survey and interview were used. Results from the research include the making of a theoretical framework related to the subject of research and other associated variables, determination of a detailed diagnosis of the shortcomings and difficulties currently presented in the entity under study, being able to build a matrix of occupational risks for each job. Finally, it achieves the design and implementation of a permanent contingency plan for industrial security and occupational health. This plan sets out the amounts to be disbursed for investments in the development, implementation and application of such plan and a comparative statement of profit and loss between 2013 and 2015, where you can see a savings of $ 4 032.36 by concept of accidents, and incidents.
