This review proposes to reflect on the role that emotions play in relation to an unpleasant experience for the human being called pain. The painful stimulus causes situations of disability to a greater or lesser extent, depending on how it is evaluated and addressed, leading to emotional and cognitive alterations that generate a lower quality of life in the person/patient, from functional, psychological, occupational and social aspects. A bibliographic review is carried out, which allows the health professional to reflect on the integral management of the patient who consults for a symptom, that, if not managed properly, will trigger a painful syndrome that interferes and threatens its existence.

This study analyzes the burden of care and its relation with morbidity perceived by caregivers of children with disabilities. In this quantitative, descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional study, 56 caregivers of children, enrolled in an association in Cali, participated. The morbidity was measured with the Nordic questionnaire and the burden of care with the interview of Zarit. The results were presented using descriptive statistics and the Pearson correlation coefficient. Caregivers are mostly women, with an average age of 47 years old, with more than ten years performing these duties, and 21 as the average number of working hours per day. It prevailed lower back pain (50%) followed by shoulder pain (37.5%). The subjective excessive workload stood at the oldest caregivers with a performance in additional activities; this relation was statistically significant (p = 0.04). Caregivers who devote more time in other tasks showed more subjective excessive workload and musculoskeletal morbidity in the lower back and shoulders. Caregivers express feelings of burden and frustration towards caregiving.

The purpose of the following study is to characterize the variables, psychic attrition, and self-esteem, as well as explore their association and identify differences, in a group of working and non-working women in a socially vulnerable condition of Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco. Exploratory, descriptive, correlational study; we applied the fourth dimension of the Battery for the study of psychosocial working conditions (CTCPS-MAC), which evaluates psychic attrite and three factors (cognitive-emotional response, behavioral response, and physiological response). As well as the Cooper and Smith test that assesses self-esteem in three dimensions (self, family and social), to 195 vulnerable women to whom the System of Integral Development of the Family (DIF because of its acronym in Spanish) grants monthly support in the form of provisions, of which 125 are housewives and 70 work outside their home. The results showed a tendency in the majority of the population to present optimal ratings regarding psychic wear and self-esteem. There was no significant difference in women who work outside the home and those who do not. The correlation we found between the factor 1 of psychic wear and self-esteem. It remains an assumption for future studies that women with high self-esteem will tend to manifest less mental weariness.

A phenomenological qualitative study was carried out in nine men, between 19 and 36 years old, in a maternal program in Cucuta, to understand their experiences of participation in caring their pregnant partner. In the narratives, constructions around pregnancy emerge, as well as its acceptance, emotionality and associated changes, meanings attributed to fatherhood and care framed by the duty to be masculine. Caring for their partners generates satisfaction because it fulfills the expected social role. Meanings of caring their partners, associated to “responsibility” and “sense of duty”, sustained in the role of providers and protectors to their gestating couple and in the son to come, emerge. Men experience various changes: they suspend proposed projects, they are more tender and linked to their partners, they reduce their social spaces and perceive transformations in the pregnant woman and in the affective and sexual relationship. Their principal barrier is their work, due to schedules, working conditions and self-demand. It is necessary to involve men in reproductive health care spaces to know their experiences, to give them information, so that, together with pregnant women, they can be stronger to live the pregnancy.

Amelogenesis Imperfecta (AI) is an alteration of the structure and appearance of dental enamel of genetic origin that can occur as an isolated or systemic defect. The Amelogenesis Imperfecta-Nefrocalcinosis Syndrome (OMIM # 204690), also known as Enamel-Renal Syndrome (ERS), is characterized by the presence of hypoplastic AI, gingival hyperplasia with ectopic mineralization, delayed tooth eruption and Nephrocalcinosis. This syndrome is associated with autosomal recessive mutations of the FAM20A gene. The aim of this review is to present the clinical and phenotypic characteristics of patients with the Amelogenesis Imperfecta-Nefrocalcinosis Syndrome. The material was obtained through an online search of MEDLINE database (PubMed), EBSCO-Host and Scopus (ScienceDirect). The results confirm the low frequency of clinical cases reported with Syndrome Amelogenesis Imperfecta-Nefrocalcinosis. The clinical and phenotypic characteristics were exposed in a clear, simple and precise way. It is recommended to general dentists and pediatric dentists that, when diagnosing an AI, particularly of hypoplastic type, they perform a detailed personal-family medical history and contemplate an interconsultation with the nephrology service that allows to diagnose or monitor the patient’s renal status in a preventive style.
