The article deals with the coercive measures applicable to legal persons in Latvia. A number of national instruments, which measured criminal liability of legal persons is given. In particular, it analyzes the provisions of the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code of Latvia. The main attention is paid to the description of the existing types of coercive measures and to the order of their using.

EU imposes the obligation on its Member States to harmonize national law to the European Communities’ criminal financial interests protection. In 1995 was adopted the Convention on the protection of the financial interests with protocols. Poland develops its criminal and financial laws in a view to the implementation needs. The article is dedicated to the problems of the EU financial and criminal requirements, to the necessary national legislative changes.

This article provides an analysis of the different approaches to the definition of «information security» and suggests the author's definition of the concept in the context of international security. Accordingly, information security is proposed to determine as a component of the security of the state, the condition of security of the person, the society and the state, under which the information development (technical, intellectual, social and political, moral and ethical), under which the negative extraneous informative-psychological and informative-technical influence through the incompleteness, delays and unreliability of the information used, unauthorized distribution, use, and violation of the integrity, confidentiality and availability of information does not cause its significant harm.
