The article analyzed the provisions of the maritime policy and law of China in the South China Sea in comparison with such fundamental principles of international law as the sovereign equality of States, non-use or threat of force, the settlement of international disputes by peaceful means, conscientious fulfillment of obligations under international law, duties of States cooperate with each other and other principles of international law of the sea: the actual possession of the islands and territories, consistency, equity in maritime delimitation, marine environmental protection, freedom of the seas, the peaceful use of the world's oceans. On the basis of the conclusion of the contradictory policy and legal provisions of the PRC in this area and the need for and the importance of the termination of illegal actions for the sake of peace, security and international law.

Sino‐Russian Energy Cooperation Strengthens Supply Security of Chinese Energy

China and Russia are regional powers, and their relations have developed in many dimensions. When the Soviet Union collapsed, Sino‐Russian relations have gradually developed from the beginning to view the other side as friendly nation to constructive partner and the situation now being strategic cooperative partnership between both nations. Economic cooperation is the most important of the upgrade of bilateral relations, in which energy is the core issue. Both sides realize that economic cooperation is beneficial for their economics respectively, and that cooperation plans are to set into action positively and persistently. This thesis is divided into two parts: the first part describes the process of Chinese energy strategy and its contemporary energy needs; the second part elaborates the importance of Russian energy in the world and the situation of energy cooperation between both nations. Regardless of crude oil or natural gas, Russian’s reserve volume and export volume are the head in the world. Acquiring energy from Russia and member nations of Shanghai Cooperation organization (SCO), China needs much energy because of its economic development rapidly. In the process of energy cooperation, China can intensify its relations with nations in this Eurasian region, including military relations. China reaches its economic goals obviously by its energy diplomacy with Russia, and gets even more considerable strategic benefits from its energy diplomacy with Central Asia nations, in comparison to economic benefits.

The US China Policy under Trump: Change in Continuity

This article seeks to look at the possible changes and continuities in the US China policy under the Trump administration. In a brief review of US China policy since 1972 up to 2016, it shows that the US China policy under succeeding administrations has been a combination of cooperation and confrontation. Under Trump whose stated view of China suggests a strong desire to push back China, political tensions between Washington and Beijing will possibly arise. Trump’s policy on China will be more confrontational with the employment of protectionist and hard-line measures. In four years to come, the US will be under a new administration but the US national interests, namely US security and prosperity, do not change. Also, the US-China relationship is too big to fall. Therefore, the Trump administration will seek to effectively engage with China while pursuing a hard-line policy with China. A grand bargain seems to better serve the US national interest than a battle with China. Hence, it is expected that the US China policy under Trump will be a change in continuation.
