Five nuclear substitution derivatives of 4- acetyl pyridine (2a to 6a) were prepared via N-oxidation followed by either nitration or arylation in the yield of 60-80%. Substitution at 2- position is promoted due to the electron withdrawing and meta- directing ability of acetyl group at 4- position making the pyridine N-oxide vulnerable to attack at C-2.

Background & objectives: The objective of present study is to find free radical scavenging and anti-inflammatory activity of methanolic flowers and roots extracts of Cassia auriculata Linn. Methods: The methanolic flowers and roots extracts of Cassia auriculata Linn. were investigated for their antioxidant potential and anti-inflammatory activity by using carrageenan-induced acute inflammation and cotton pellet-induced sub-chronic inflammation in rats. Result: The methanolic flowers extract of Cassia auriculata exhibited significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity by reducing carrageenan and cotton pellet induced change in bio-chemical parameters. The methanolic flowers extract showed 54.20 % and 55.76% while methanolic roots extract showed 52.52% and 53.84% inhibition in carrageenan-induced, cotton pellet-induced inflammation in rats respectively. Both the extracts of flowers and roots were tested for the presence of phytochemical constituents and studies confirmed the presence of the active phytoconstituents in methanolic extract of flowers, which may interfere with free-radical formation and accounts for the significant anti-inflammatory activity. Interpretation & conclusions: The present study indicates the medicinal value of Cassia auriculata in the management of inflammation.

Cancer is the biggest question-mark for the medical science. However many effective drugs are available for the cancer treatment, the biggest obstacle is the selective targeting the drug to the cancer cells. Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) is a selective therapy of the cancer, it may not affect or affect little to the normal cells, It works on 2 principles - (1)Boron can capture the neutron & getting unstable. (2) Subsequently nuclear fission of boron occurs via emitting radiation. So, Delivered the required dose of boron to the cancerous cells and triggering it with the Neutron beam to this cancer cells which contain the boron, This neutron is capture by the neutron of cancer cells, getting unstable & subsequently nuclear fission is occur, this lethal radiation ultimately kills the cancer cells & normal cells are survive. The nuclear reaction is: 10B + nth → [11B] → α + 7Li + 2.31 MeV The future prospective are to limit the radiation to the cancer cells only & efficiently deliver the Boron to the cancer cell only, also evaluate the other radioactive materials like Gadolinium in place of Boron.

Brain is act as a central processing unit in human body as like a in computers. This controls all the body systems under one organ. To reach a drug up to brain, its’ a challenging task. In this review we added techniques that can easily cross the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB). Number of drugs unable to cross BBB easily, so that by using these techniques drug can easily reach to targeted sites. Techniques such as Pro drug, Liposome’s, Nanotechnology, Microspheres, Polymeric Micelles and Micro emulsions and Dendrimers are helpful to transfer drug at brain targeted site. Figures in this article can easily explain the basic mechanism of preparation and its hypothetical views to understand the concept of targeted drug delivery system. This article will help on review of these techniques in short manner for students.
