Introduction: Deficiency of anemia is a prevalence cause of nutritional deficiency, lacking intake of iron-rich food and lower bioavailability of consumed iron required during pregnancy. Objective: To assess the rate in pregnant women with lower haemoglobin for the determination if cause of anemia and to calculate daily caloric intake of anemia. Materials and Methods: A tertiary care health institute based study carried out with enrolled patients from January 2007 to June 2009. A total of 113 pregnant women with low haemoglobin concentration, and less and controlled group respectively were included in the study. Results: Out of 113 pregnant women divided into two groups, in group one, 30 pregnant women had haemoglobin concentration of 5gm% and group two, 83 pregnant women had haemoglobin concentration between 5.1 to 7gm%. The duration of pregnancy anemia detection were non significance (p = < 0 xss=removed> Conclusions: The higher rates of mortality were detected in lower haemoglobin level group, which shows high risk mortality in pregnant women with low level of blood.

Community engagement in relation to HIV/AIDS has so often been a topic of discussion in India, substantial involvement of the community has rarely been a mainstream practice The general concept of community engagement is letting research projects achieve success by involving the participants directly into the research work, and implementing the results and the inferences obtained from those projects for the betterment of participants. We tried our level best to put this theory in practice at Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, India during year 2015-2016. Apart from some teething problems that cropped up at the initial stage of the study, which was difficult and time taking to solve. The advantages of community involvement, as the experience showed, outweighed such minor difficulties. The final developed model for community engagement among marginalized population was successful and we can recommend this model for robust data collection and interpretation expecting a fruitful end result.

Postnatal consultation helps to early detect maternal and newborn pathologies in postpartum. In low-middle income countries, such as Benin, postnatal consultation rates are quite low. This is even more alarming in rural areas. This study aims to search factors associated with postnatal care visit. A cross-sectional study, conducted in Sèmè-kpodji, southern Benin, included 339 women who have delivered between January 2015 and January 2016. Sociodemographic information and data concerning women gynecological status and health center services management have been analyzed by logistic regression. Postnatal care visit rate was 12.68%. Primiparous mothers (OR=2.57 [1.15-3.02]), communication session of change of behavior (OR=1.98 [1.62-3.14]), secondary level of education (OR=1.23 [1.07-2.11]) and good quality of reception at health center (OR=1.75 [1.25-3.45]) were significant determinants of postnatal care visit. We lightened the benefit effect of communication session during antepartum. These strategies need to be strengthened by targeting older women. It is also necessary to increase the level of education of women.

Disasters cause great harm to the existing infrastructure and threaten the future of sustainable development. The occurrence of disasters and related causalities are one of the realities of man’s life. The aim of this study is to assess the knowledge and self-expressed competency of the health personnel regarding disaster and its preparedness in selected hospitals, Mangaluru. Objectives of the study are to assess the knowledge regarding disaster and its preparedness among health personnel, to determine the self-expressed competency of health personnel on disaster and its preparedness and to correlate knowledge with self-expressed competency of health personnel on disaster and its preparedness. Descriptive research design was used. Study sample consists of 200 health personnel working in hospitals in Mangaluru, who were available at the time of data collection and who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The data was collected using self-administered structured knowledge questionnaire and five point self-expressed competency rating scale. Result: Majority 42 (79.24%) of the doctors had good level of knowledge whereas majority 80 (66.67%) of nurses and 13(48.15%) of paramedical staffs had average knowledge regarding disaster and its preparedness Overall knowledge score was high among doctors with mean percentage of 80.55% with mean and SD of 32.22 ± 2.177. Next highest was among nurses with mean percentage of 67.29% with mean and SD of 26.55 ± 5.272. Least was among paramedical staffs with mean percentage of 66.38% with mean and SD of 28.275 ± 4.516. Regarding level of self-expressed competency among subjects, 47 (88.67%) doctors showed high level of competency, among nurses 55 (45.83%) of them showed high level of competency, among paramedical 7 (25.92%) of them showed high level of competency regarding disaster and its preparedness. There was positive correlation between level of knowledge and self-expressed competency of health personnel regarding disaster and its preparedness. The findings of the study support the need for providing educational and training to improve the knowledge and self-expressed competency of the health personnel regarding disaster and its preparedness.
