Purpose: to study features of monitoring in the dynamics of the basic treatment of eosinophilic phenotype of asthma in school-age children. Materials and methods. Surveyed 88 school-age children with bronchial asthma. The first group included 45 patients who met eosinophilic phenotype (EFBA) and group II formed the 43 patients with evidence of neutrophilic phenotype (NFBA). Results and discussion. It should be noted that if the early inflammatory therapy destination exchange only 10.5% of the patients disease was defined as EFBA controlled and the finishing treatment increased the proportion of cases of controlled to 25.6% (Pφ>0,05) and in the second clinical group – at 22.3% of 50.0% patients, Pφ<0,05. Also marked anti-inflammatory effect in both groups in exhaled breath condensate and increase in the lability of the bronchi occurred in 39.1% of children with EFBA, and 60.0% of the representatives of the comparison group. Conclusions. Thus, in patients with signs of eosinophilic phenotype compared with children with neutrophilic airway inflammation markers hyperresponsiveness and inflammation of the bronchi more expressive as the lability of the respiratory tract. Under the influence of the basic anti-inflammatory treatment in patients with eosinophilic asthma phenotype is a reduction of inflammation of the bronchi, but not lability and hyperresponsiveness.

Integral indicator of bone quality is microhardness, which depends both on the condition of the inorganic component and the quality of the extracellular organic matrix. There are a lot of researches indicated microhardness changes around the metal implants, but it is not clear how it change distant from injured place. The aim of our research was to determine the microhardness of the femoral bone at different terms after the implantation of metal alloys with different composition. 65 rabbits were random in 5 groups – intact, control (bone defect) and 3 experimental. We used TiVT6 alloy with high elasticity module and β- (Ti-Zr) alloy with low Young module for the experimental groups. All alloys were implanted in distal epiphysis of femur. Bone microhardness was detected in periimplanted zone as well as in middle of diaphysis and proximal epiphysis. Injury of bone leads to a decrease in the hardness in the zone of the defec as well as in distal zones, followed by recovery up to 6 month. Use the classic high-modulus alloy TiVT6 leads to a significant decrease in the microhardness of all sections of bone in the early and late postoperative period. Implantation of low modulus alloy β (Ti-Zr) leads to a reduction of hardness just after 1 and 3 months after the injury, and the use of hydroxyapatite coating significantly reduces the loss of bone quality at all times after implantation.

Melilotus officinalis (L.) Pallas., is used traditionally to treat hypertension and chronic venous insufficiency. The high prevalence of hypertension and the side effects of antihypertensive drugs potentiate us to evaluate Melilotus officinalis. The hypotensive effect of Melilotus officinalis butanolic fraction (MOBF) was investigated in anaesthetized normotensive rats. The doses of 60, 80 and 100 mg/kg, i.v., produced a significant (P<0.05) decrease in blood pressure. The statistically non significant reduction in blood pressure was showed by 20 and 40 mg/kg, i.v. These results suggest that Melilotus officinalis exhibited hypotensive effect in normotensive rats. However further evaluation of compound related activity is required.

Background The survival rate of a cardiac arrest victim increases with basic life support (BLS) as the first level of medical care. The purpose of this study was to compare BLS knowledge and skills of medical university staff before and after training course. Methods Thirty eight medical university staff participated in a BSL training course. The course included the assessment of participant’s knowledge by a pretest questionnaire, a lecture, hands-on training in BLS skills, a post-test questionnaire and an interview to evaluate their attitudes. Data were analyzed by the SPSS software version 19, using t-test, one-way ANOVA and chi square tests. P value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results Our results demonstrated that the mean knowledge score was 6.00 ± 2.09 vs. 8.26 ± 2.10 in pre- and post- education, respectively. A significant mean gain score (2.26) from the pre-test scores to post-test scores was statistically observed (P<0.05). According to the results, 23.68% of trainees had an ineffective level and 76.32% of them had an effective level. No differences were statistically found between trainees’ gain scores and effectiveness level in terms of gender, age, work experiences and the prior first aid training experience (p>0.05) whereas, there were the significant differences between trainees’ gain scores and, education and career fields(p< 0.05). Our result also presents that staff attitudes toward the training were positive. Conclusion The present research shows the BLS training had a positive impact on the knowledge and attitudes among university staff. BLS training is extremely useful for medical university staff.

The C825T polymorphism of β3-subunit G-protein gene (GNB3) is associated with activation and cell growth that lead to left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). The aim this research was to analyze the association between the C825T polymorphism GNB3 gene and some central hemodynamic parameters, left ventricular mass (LVM) and heart geometric in patients with essential hypertension (EH) and LVH. We used two-dimensional-controlled M-mode echocardiograms in 155 patients whith EH for evaluation of LVH, the C825T polymorphism GNB3 was determinated by polymerase chain reaction and restriction digestion. 49 (0.32) were homozygous for the C allele (CC), 86 (0.55) were heterozygous (CT), and 20 (0.13) were homozygous for the T allele (TT). C- and T alleles carries were 32% and 68% respestively, T allele frequency was 0.4. The differences between left ventricular internal end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD), intraventricular septum thickness (IST), posterior wall thickness (PWT), left ventricular mass (LVM) and left ventricular mass index (LVMI) in the patients with EH according to genotypes and alleles of C825T polymorphism GNB3 gene were statistical significance (p=0.001, p<0.001, p=0.025, p<0.001 and p=0.001 respectively). Normal geometry and LV remodeling (0.48 and 0.44 respectively) prevails among patients with EH versus eccentric and concentric LVH (0.03 and 0.05 respectively). The frequency of the T allele was significantly higher in patients with LV remodeling compare the patients with normal geometry (0.43 versus 0.365 respectively) and didn’t find significant difference of frequency genotypes and alleles for eccentric and concentric types of LVH. Thus, the T allele of C825T polymorphism of β3-subunit G-protein gene is associated with left ventricular hypertrophy, higher some echocardiographic parameters left ventricular, left ventricular mass, left ventricular mass index but not associated with types of left ventricular geometry in patients with essential hypertension in Ukrainian population.

The objective of the study is to know the essential components of Aesthetic Dentistry that will be a basis for prototype Outcomes-based training modules. Using a 5-point Likert scale, the researcher-made questionnaire assessed the different elements of Aesthetic Dentistry which are needed in the designing of the training module, the manner of presentation and the form of assessment that were needed in the training module. Statistical tools that were used for the study are percentage, frequency, weighted mean and standard deviation. The information gathered from the respondents was relevant in the development of a Prototype Outcomes-based Training Modules in Aesthetic Dentistry.

Objective: To clarify clinical features of sleep disorders in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and their effect on cognitive function and emotional-personal sphere. Material and methods: The study involved 62 patients with PD (33 men and 29 women) mean age 47.8+7.1 years. The control group consisted of 20 patients without Parkinsonism matching by age and sex. The diagnosis of PD was established by criteria A.Hughes. Patients underwent an extended neuropsychological study with qualitative and quantitative analysis. To determine cognitive disorders, we used neuropsychological tests. Results: 49 patients (79,3%) had sleep disorders. In the structure of sleep disorders: 29 (59.2%) patients had insomnia and 11 (22.4%) patients – parasomnia and 9 (18.4%) - hypersomnia. In a control group, numbers were 4.5 times less. The analysis showed that the structure of sleep disorders correlates with the form of PD. So, insomnia is more rapidly met in akinetic-rigid form (55.5%), whereas hypersomnia is presented in mixed form. Patients with insomnia present 35% of predement cognitive impairment and 34% of dementia (66.7% of mild degree dementia and 33.3% moderate dementia severity). Whereas, in patients with hypersomnia 35% of predement cognitive impairment, 60% of dementia (54.6% and 45.4%) were observed. Among patients with permanent drowsiness 32.4% of predement cognitive impairment and 58.4% of dementia (44.8% and 55.2%) were diagnosed. Dementia (65.4%) was observed more in patients with sudden sleep (42,8% and 57.2%). Conclusion: sleep and wakefulness disorders depend not only on the severity of motor symptoms, but also depend on the emotional and cognitive state.

Background and Aims- To evaluate the impact of nutritional intervention on vitamins and minerals from intake food and anthropometric parameters at overweight and obese patients. Material and methods- To a sample of 40 overweight and obese patients we evaluated the nutritional content of food intake (kilocalories, macro and micronutrients). We also measured anthropometric parameters like weight, body mass index, body fat, percent of body fat, abdominal circumference and arterial tension. Results- After the nutritional intervention, overweight and obese patients had significantly lower level of intake carbohydrates (P=.018), lipids (P=.002), B1 vitamin (P<.001), B3 vitamin (P=.02) and E vitamin (P=.016). There is a significantly increased level of proteins (P<.001). Regarding the minerals, we found that the intake levels of following‘s decreased: sodium (P<.001), magnesium (P=.006), zinc (P=.035), copper (P=.002), manganese (P<.001). Phosphorus is the only mineral of which the intake level increased significantly (P<.001). All the anthropometric parameters decreased significantly: weight (P<.001), body mass index (P<.001), body fat (P<.001), percent of body fat (P<.001), abdominal circumference (P<0.001), systolic arterial tension (P<.001), diastolic arterial tension (P=.002). Conclusions- All the patients had imbalanced intake of vitamins and minerals both before and after intervention. There is a significant improved on anthropometric measures after nutritional intervention. We need to promote healthy lifestyle changes to prevent the risks associated with obesity.

The levels of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and its tissue inhibitor (TIMP-1) in serum, and the concentration of Zn in the serum, hair and carotid atherosclerotic plaques were examined. The relationships zinc-dependent endopeptidases as biomarkers instability of atherosclerotic plaques and zinc in patients with carotid atherosclerosis were studied. The results contribute to the selection of patients at high risk for cardiovascular events.
