Objetivo. Evaluar el consumo, la digestibilidad y el crecimiento de cuyes alimentados con dos alimentos (A y K) formulados para esta especie y un alimento para conejos en crecimiento con suplementación de vitamina C (AC+VC). Materiales y métodos. Dieciocho cuyes (Cavia porcellus) de 248±38 g de peso vivo inicial se distribuyeron en un diseño completamente al azar con un arreglo factorial 3 × 2 (tipo de alimento y género). La ingesta de alimento, fibra detergente neutro, el aumento de peso, la conversión alimenticia, y los cambios en las variables morfométricas se midieron diariamente, mientras que la digestibilidad de la MS y FDN se determinaron al final del periodo. Resultados. No hubo diferencias en el consumo de MS (p=0.88); sin embargo, la digestibilidad de la MS fue mayor (p<0.01) en los alimentos para cuyes e inferior en AC+VC. El consumo y digestibilidad de FDN fueron mayores en AC+VC (p<0.01). La ganancia diaria fue similar entre los tratamientos (p>0.05). No hubo diferencias (p>0.01) en las variables morfométricas entre los alimentos, pero los machos fueron más grandes que las hembras (p<0.01). Conclusiones. Los cuyes pueden ser alimentados con alimento de conejo suplementado con vitamina C.

Objetivo. Evaluar el efecto del aceite crudo de palma (ACP) sobre la calidad del huevo almacenado por varios días a diferentes temperaturas. Materiales y métodos. Un total de 240 gallinas de 28 semanas se alimentaron con dietas con 30g/kg de aceite de soya (AS) o ACP. Después de 12 semanas, muestras de huevos se almacenaron durante 0, 4, 8 y 12 días a 4, 12 y 24°C. Las características de calidad del huevo fueron evaluadas. Resultados. El huevo y la albúmina de gallinas en la dieta con ACP fueron más pesados que aquellos en la dieta con AS (p<0.05). La alta temperatura de almacenamiento redujo el peso del huevo, albúmina y yema, unidades Haugh (UH), altura de la albúmina y la yema, pH y color (p<0.05), pero aumentó el ancho de la albúmina y la yema, y la longitud de la albúmina (p<0.05). A medida que aumentaba el tiempo de almacenamiento, el peso del huevo, el peso y la altura de la albúmina, y la altura de la yema, el pH y el color se redujeron (p<0.05). Sin embargo, el peso y el ancho de la yema, el ancho y la longitud de la albúmina aumentaron (p<0.05). La interacción aceite x tiempo de almacenamiento (p<0.05) indico que la altura de la albumina, UH y el color de la yema de los huevos de la dieta con ACP fueron mejores a los 12 días de almacenamiento que en la dieta con AS. Conclusiones. Las gallinas en la dieta con ACP tuvieron huevos y albuminas más pesadas que las de las de la adieta con AS. La calidad del huevo disminuyó conforme el tiempo y temperatura de almacenamiento se incrementó, pero, los huevos de las gallinas suplementadas con ACP tuvieron mejor calidad en algunas características a los 12 días de almacenamiento.

Objetivo. Presentar una revisión moderna de la fauna de nematodos de la rana esculenta Pelophylax lessonae (Camerano, 1882) de las poblaciones de la cuenca del Río Volga Materiales y métodos. Este trabajo consolida los datos de diferentes trabajos helmintológicos de los últimos 80 años, respaldados por los resultados de nuestras propias investigaciones. Durante el período de 1936 a 2016 diferentes autores examinaron 1460 especímenes de rana esculenta, utilizando el método de autopsia helmintológica completa de 13 regiones de la cuenca del Río Volga. Resultados. En total se registraron 9 especies de nematodos. Nematodo Icosiella neglecta encontrado por primera vez en el huésped estudiado en el territorio de Rusia y la cuenca del Río Volga. Tres especies parecían estar más extendidas: Oswaldocruzia filiformis, Cosmocerca ornata e Icosiella neglecta. Para cada especie de helmintos se incluyó la siguiente información: posición sistemática, áreas de detección, localización, biología, lista de hospederos definitivos, nivel de especificidad del hospedero. Conclusiones. Los nematodos de la rana esculenta, excepto I. neglecta, pertenecen al grupo de helmintos transmitidos por el suelo (geohelmintos) y parasitan en estadios adultos. Algunas especies (O. filiformis, C. ornata, I. neglecta) están muy extendidas en el área de distribución del hospedador. Estos dos últimos son capaces de alcanzar altos índices de invasión y también de ser los parásitos subyacentes de la rana esculenta. Esto sucede debido a la especificidad del ciclo de vida de estas especies de nematodos y a la conexión a largo plazo del anfibio con el agua.

Objetivo. Estudiar el efecto de medicamentos homeopáticos sobre el crecimiento, supervivencia y microbiota del tracto gastrointestinal (TGI) de almeja Catarina Argopecten ventricosus. Materiales y Métodos. Se aplicaron cinco tratamientos homeopáticos derivados de bacterias [(T1) ViP-ViA 1D, (T2) ViP-ViA 7C], minerales [(T3) AcF-MsS 1D, (T4) PhA-SiT 7C], o venenos [(T5) ViT 31C] y tres controles: (C1) etanol diluido 1:99, (C2) etanol dinamizado 1C y (C3) agua destilada. La microbiota se determinó secuenciando la región V3-V5 del gen 16S rRNA. Resultados. El mayor crecimiento en longitud de la concha correspondió a T1 (117 μm d-1) y T2 (108 μm d-1), la mayor supervivencia a T3 y T5 y el mejor resultado global a T3. Las curvas de rarefacción de los grupos tratados y controles mostraron una clara separación. Se encontraron diferencias significativas (p≤0.05) entre filos (Proteobacteria > Actinobacteria > Firmicutes > Bacterloidetes> Chloroflexi y para los Géneros: Symbiobacterium > Microbacterium > Methylobacillus > Bacillus > Paenibacillus > Burkholderia > Nostoc > Methylobacterium > Leucobacter). El género Symbiobacterium fue dominante (p≤0.05) para T5, respecto a todos los tratamientos y grupos controles. La especie Microbacterium maritypicum (Actinobacteria) mostró la mayor abundancia relativa (p≤0.05) en T1 y T3 y Symbiobacterium toebii (Firmicutes) en T5 y T2 (p≤0.05), ambas con respecto al inicio del estudio T0. Conclusiones. Se presenta por primera vez la composición de la microbiota del TGI de A. ventricosus y la aplicabilidad potencial de la homeopatía para mejorar el rendimiento productivo y modular la microbiota gastrointestinal de la especie.

Objetivos. El objetivo de este trabajo fue estimar en vacas en pastoreo, tanto la reproducibilidad como la precisión del balance de metionina (Met) y lisina (Lis), aminoácidos más limitantes en la producción de leche, cuando se comparan los valores predichos versus los valores observados.Materiales y métodos. Se usaron 12 vacas durante un periodo de 20 días. Control: animales pastoreando y suplementados con alimento balanceado; Met-Lis:igual al control y el suplemento se ajustó con Lis y Met protegida. Para los valores predichos para la suplementación de Met y Lis, se tuvo en cuenta el promedio del consumo de materia seca (CMS) del hato, basado en la oferta y el consumo de pasto y los valores de proteína microbiana. Los valores observados se determinaron con base en el CMS individual usando marcadores externos e internos,además, la producción individual de proteína microbiana. Se realizó una prueba de tpareada y un modelo de predicciónpara determinar la eficiencia fue determinado usando el error cuadrático medio de predicción (ECMP) y el coeficiente de concordancia (CCC).Resultados.Se encontraron diferencias significativas entre la suplementación y el balance de Met y Lis, entre los valores predichos y los valores observados para el CMS del forraje, la digestibilidad de la proteína microbiana, la producción de proteína microbiana, el suministro y el balance de Lis y Met. El CCC del balance de Lis y Metfue bajo (0.10), el ECMPfue alto, excepto para el CMS, que tuvo una concordancia moderada(0.63) y un bajo ECMP(4.42). Conclusiones.Estos resultados demuestran la falta de precisión de las herramientas que se usan para balancear las raciones individuales de vacas en pastoreo, ya que subestiman la suplementación y el balance de los aminoácidos.

Objetivo. Determinar presencia de anticuerpos contra VLB en muestras de leche de tanques, en varios departamentos de Colombia. Materiales y métodos. De 2220 muestras llegadas al laboratorio de calidad de la leche de la Universidad de Antioquia para análisis de calidad para pago de una quincena en el mes de mayo de 2016, se seleccionaron 329 al azar y de manera ponderada según el número de muestras disponibles para cada uno de los 7 departamentos participantes. Estas muestras fueron sometidas a la prueba de ELISA para determinar la presencia de anticuerpos contra VLB. Resultados. El resultado principal de este análisis al azar de tanques de leche en busca de anticuerpos contra BLV, fue la positividad de los predios en rangos que oscilan entre el 57 y el 100%; el abordaje de este problema de salud bovina en Colombia es posible mediante las muestras de leche de tanque que rutinariamente llegan a los laboratorios de análisis de calidad. Conclusiones. La infección con BLV está presente en Colombia, el establecimiento de programas de control se podría hacer aprovechando las muestras de leche que se envían de rutina a los laboratorios acreditados para pago.

Se reporta el caso de una cabra macho de raza alpina de 7 meses de edad, que presentaba claudicación del miembro posterior derecho sin causa definida. Se realizaron los exámenes clínicos y radiográficos, sugiriendo luxación traumática o necrosis avascular de cabeza femoral con consecuente enfermedad degenerativa articular. Se realizó tratamiento quirúrgico mediante artroplastia por excisión de cabeza y cuello femoral. El estudio histopatológico mediante la coloración de hematoxilina y eosina describió: hueso necrótico, lagunas conteniendo osteocitos necróticos, además de médula ósea necrótica. Esta información comprobó el diagnóstico de necrosis avascular de la cabeza y cuello femoral. En el post quirúrgico, la recuperación clínica del paciente se consideró buena, mitigando el dolor y mejorando la función del miembro afectado. El presente caso se trata del primer reporte de esta enfermedad en caprinos en el Perú.

Objective. Describe the endocrine response associated with the reproduction of a tropical potamodromous fish under changes in the flow discharge produced by hydropower in an Andean. Materials and methods. We analyzed Prochilodus magdalenae reproduction in individuals from two sectors of a Neotropical river basin: one with a natural flow and another one with a regulated hydrological regime. Results. In the sector of the basin with the natural flow we found that the production of hormones related with fish reproduction (FSH and LH) was correlated with the gonadosomatic index, while in fish experiencing hydropeaking due to hydroelectric operation no such correlation was detected. Conclusions. Hormone production associated to reproduction of the Potamodromous fish was sensitive to changes in water level and discharge. Then, fish exposed to hydropeaking would be receiving ambiguous stimuli that affect hormone production, reproduction synchronization with environmental cues, and ripening, which are essential for reproductive success

Objective. Determine the progeny difference expected (DEP) for the weaning weight adjusted to 205 days (PD) in crossbreed Brahman females born in 2016 as selection criteria for future breeders. Materials and methods. It is analyzed 3467 records generated between 1983 and 2016 in the Napo farm (San Vicente, Manabí, Ecuador). The statistical model included the random effect of the father and as fixed effects: breed composition, sex and year of birth. The variance analysis was performed using the GLM procedure of the SAS statistical package. The components of the variance between and within the father to calculate the heritability (h2) of the PD and the breeding values, the MTDFRELM software was used, applying the animal model, through the evaluation system of the Best Linear Unbiased Predictor (BLUP). Results. It was found that the PD average for the 349 females born in 2016 was 173.67±34.23 kg. A highly significant difference (p≤0.01) was found for the random and fixed effects. The h2 for PD was 0.13±0.04. The DEP fluctuated between -6.13 and +5.58 kg with a range between the breeding values of 11.71 kg and an accuracy between 0.50 and 0.72. Conclusion. The low h2 found for PD shows the high influence of non-genetic factors; it is necessary to identify the best crossbreed that adapts to the livestock in order to obtain high performance products in the PD.

Objective. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of follicular ablation at the beginning of a superovulation protocol (SOP) on the superovulatory response of Brahman donor cows. Materials and methods. Twenty Brahman cows were used, randomly distributed in two groups: control group (G1, n = 10), synchronization of the follicular growth wave was performed by the combination of estrogens (2.5 mg, estradiol benzoate) and progestagens (1 gr intravaginal implant); four days after starting the SOP with porcine follicle stimulating hormone (FSHp); and the ablation group (G2, n = 10), follicular ablation was performed and one day after, the SOP treatment with FSHp was initiated. In both groups, embryo collection was performed seven days after the first artificial insemination. Results. The G2 had a higher proportion of quality 1 embryos (p<0.01) compared to G1 (68.60% vs. 31.22%), while animals of G1 group had a higher proportion of quality 2 embryos (43.04% vs. 18.60%, p<0.01). For the total of structures collected and the total of transferable embryos, no significant differences were observed (p>0.05). Conclusions. Follicular ablation increased the percentage of quality 1 embryos, suggesting that the implementation of this technique, as a strategy to synchronize the beginning of a new wave of follicular growth when using SOP, improve embryo quality in Brahman donor cows.

Objective. Characterize morphometric and phaneroptics of the Creole backyard hens from the savanna subregion department of Sucre (Colombia). Materials and methods. 520 adult Creole animals (350 chickens and 170 roosters) were evaluated, in the period 2017-2018, located in 10 localities of the savanna sub-region of the department of Sucre Colombia. The information was collected in a survey format composed of quantitative and qualitative variables. The data obtained were subjected to univariate descriptive analysis, for independent samples. In addition, the analysis of variance technique was used. Comparisons between males and females were made by means of a t-test. The analyses were performed using the statistical package R. Results. The descriptors analyzed showed the superiority of the roosters over the hens (p<0.05). The analysis of variance in the population of females with respect to weight determined that there are significant differences (p<0.05). The morphological and phaneroptic characteristics studied describe a yellow metatarsal bird, with plumage color that combines brown, black, gray and white tones, the morphology and distribution of feathers in most birds is normal characteristic (smooth typical), with a uniform distribution to a length of the body, although specimens with different plumage patterns can be found. Conclusions. A wide variation could be observed among animals from the 10 localities studied. There is evidence of a typological differentiation in relation to the weight and size of the tarsus in the animals evaluated, which can be used as a selection criterion.

Objective. To establish by means of experimenting by batch the capacity of removal, the kinetics and adsorption thermodynamics of activated carbon prepared from manioc husk (Manihot esculenta) in the removal of direct blue 86 dye. Materials and methods. Firstly, the experimental methodology worked on the preparation of activated carbon by chemical activation of manioc husk with H3PO4 calcined at 530°C. In the characterization the texture properties were determined by means of the blue methylene and iodine indices, the basic and acidic functional groups were quantified by the Boehm method, and the proximate analyses were done following the norms ASTM D2867-70, ASTM D2866 and ASTM D2866-94. During the batch studies, the effect of several parameters over the adsorption capacity was evaluated: pH (2, 4, 8 and 10), temperature (25, 30 and 40°C) and initial concentration of the dye (20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 mg/L). Both physicochemical and adsorption characteristics of the activated carbon from manioc husk (CAY) were compared against those of a commercial brand (CAM). Results. The results of characterization showed that both carbons have a chemistry heterogeneous surface, acidic for CAY and basic for CAM. The maximum capacity obtained was 6.1 mg/g for CAY and 3.7 mg/g for CAM. The thermodynamic calculations showed that the removal was spontaneous. The kinetics for both carbon samples fits a pseudo second-order model. Conclusions. The activated carbon obtained from the manioc husk can be considered an efficient adsorbent for the removal of dyes.

Objective. The goal of this study was to determine the accuracy and bias of direct genomic values (DGV) using imputed genotypes at medium density in yield- and reproduction-related traits for Holstein cattle from Antioquia, Colombia. Materials and Methods. A total of 31 animals were genotyped with the Illumina BovineLD chip, 64 with Illumina BovineSNP50v2 and 48 with Illumina BovineHD. Two SNP panels (6K and 40K) were imputed to a density of 44K using the FINDHAP.f90 v4 program. The effects of the SNPs were estimated using the Bayes C method, using low-density (6K) genotypes as well as medium-density imputed genotypes (44_imputed). The accuracy and bias of the DGVs were determined by cross-validation. The evaluated traits were: milk yield (MY), percentage of protein (PP), percentage of fat (PF), somatic cell score (SCS), calving interval (CI) and open days (OD). Results. When using the 6K panel, the accuracy values for DGV (rpDGV;EBV) in all the studied traits ranged from 0.19 to 0.24, and the bias (bDGV;EBV) from 0.03 to 0.16. In contrast, using the 44K_imputed panel generated higher accuracy values ranging from 0.24 to 0.33 and a bias ranging from 0.03 to 0.26. Conclusions. The accuracy of prediction the DGV was higher with genotypes imputed to medium densities when compared to the accuracy of prediction obtained using low-density genotypes. Therefore, in this study it is concluded that the imputation of genotypes is very useful, because it improves the reliability of the genomic evaluation.

Hyperadrenocorticism (HAC) is one of the most common endocrinopathies in dogs, caused by excessive synthesis of cortisol. Atypical or occult HAC is a syndrome characterized by the presentation of clinical, biochemical, and imaging alterations compatible with hypercortisolism, but normal results in endocrine tests that are conventionally used for HAC diagnosis. However, these patients present high serum concentrations of precursors or other corticoadrenal hormones. The present study describes the case of an 8 years old female canine, Bichón Frisé, epileptic and treated with phenobarbital, presenting clinical signs associated with HAC, in which the low-dose dexamethasone suppression test and stimulation with ACTH resulted within normal values. The measurement of adrenal steroids, after ACTH stimulation, showed abnormal elevation of estrogen and progesterone, the latter persisting after the patient was spayed. Treatment with trilostane allowed the reduction of progesterone levels and the partial resolution of clinical signs. However, full clinical recovery was only achieved after the diagnosis and treatment of concomitant hypothyroidism. The challenge that represent the diagnosis of atypical HAC highlights the importance of performing and having availability of panels that include measurement of adrenal steroid hormones other than cortisol, as well as considering the occurrence of other concomitant endocrine metabolic diseases.

Objective. Assess the efficacy of Metarhizium anisopliae strain 135 (Ma135) applied by aspersion to reduce simultaneous infestation of Haematobia irritans and Stomoxys calcitrans in naturally infested cattle maintained in a production system which combine grazing and confinement in pens. Materials and methods. Was applied an aqueous formulation of Ma135 (1x108 conidia/ml) on a nine cows group in six occasions with seven days interval, while the control group received the same formulation without conidial content. The infestation index was estimated daily for each fly independently; the effectiveness of the formulation was calculated using the Abbott’s formula. Results. The Ma135 formulation had a reduction in the fly population of 58% for H. irritans and 69% for S. calcitrans, taking into consideration the six study weeks, in addition to causing no negative effects on animal health. An Infestation index reduction was observed from the first week post-treatment (p<0.05) and maintained this trend throughout the study. Conclusions. The present study has demonstrated the potential of strain Ma135 to reduce the simultaneous infestation of both hematophagous flies in cattle under conditions of natural infestation

Objective. Determine the best non-linear model to fit the growth curve of local turkeys managed under confinement in Michoacan, Mexico. Material and methods. Twenty-four and 43 female and male turkeys, reared under commercial conditions were given commercial feed. Birds were weighed weekly from hatch to 29 weeks of age. The Gompertz, Brody, Richards, von Bertalanffy and Logistic models were chosen to describe the age-weight relationship. Results. The best fitting model was selected based on the multiple determination coefficient (R2), the Akaike information criterion (AIC) and visual analysis of the observed and predicted curves. In both female and male, von Bertalanffy was the best model. The highest estimates of parameter A (mature weight) for both females and males were obtained with the von Bertalanffy model followed by the Gompertz and Logistic. The estimates of A were higher for males than for females. The highest estimates of parameter k (rate of maturity) for both females and males were, in decreasing order, for the Logistic, Gompertz, and von Bertalanffy models. k values for female turkeys was higher than for males. The age at the point of inflection (TI) and body weight at the age of point of inflection (WI) varied with the model used. The largest values of TI and WI corresponded to the Logistic model. Between sexes, the largest TI and WI values corresponded to males. Conclusions. The best models to describe turkey growth was the von Bertalanffy because it present the highest R2 and lowest AIC values.

Objetive. Characterize the genetic polymorphism type SNPs in the calpain (CAPN) and calpastatin (CAST) genes of Colombian creole hair sheep (OPC). Materials and methods. In 300 individuals belonging to two OPC subpopulations from the departments of Sucre (SC) and Valle del Cauca (VC) were genotyped by PCR-RFLP (MspI) for the CAST locus and by PCR-SSCP for the CAPN locus. The allelic and genotypic frequencies, the observed (Ho) and expected heterozygosity (He), the fixation index (F) and the deviations from the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) were calculated and a molecular analysis of variance to estimate the values of FST, FIS and FIT. Results. In the CAST locus, the MM genotype was the most frequent (83.9±1.1%), followed by the other genotypes (MN: 15.5±1.1, NN: 6.0±0.0%) and the allelic frequency of M (91.7±0.4%) exceeded that of N (8.3±0.4%). For the CAPN locus the heterozygous genotype (48.2±0.7%) was the most frequent, the other genotypes presented frequencies TT:44.7 ± 1.9 and CC:7.0 ± 1.4%. The T allele reached a frequency of 68.8±1.5% (C: 31.3±1.5%). Similar percentages of allelic and genotypic frequencies were found in the subpopulations. The He was less than the Ho in both loci, with negative values of F and deviations of EHW only in CAPN. All the variation found was due to differences within the individuals, with nonsignificant values (p>0.05) of FST, FIS, and FIT (0.002, -0.093 and -0.095, respectively). Conclusions. The loci studied has high variability, these results can be used for future gene-assisted selection plans to increase OPC productivity.

Objective. Investigate the effects of L-carnitine as a potential means of reducing the incidence of ascites in broilers and its relationship with physiological and biochemical paramaters. Material and methods. One-day-old 300 male broiler chicks (Ross 308) were used in the trial. The group without L-carnitine supplementation (0) was assigned as control and the groups that received 100, 150, 200 and 250 mg/L L-carnitine supplementation in water were assigned as treatment groups. The trial was completed in 35 days. Results. L-carnitine supplementation did not have any significant effect on live weight gain, feed consumption, water consumption and feed conversion ratio. Levels of blood plasma and hemogram parameters HDL, Triglyceride, CK, RBC and MCH were significantly affected by L-carnitine (p<0.05). Blood gas parameter pH value was significantly affected by L-carnitine supplementation in the broilers with ascites. Blood gas pH value significantly increased with 100 mg/L L-carnitine supplementation compared to that of control (p<0.05). While blood pH was 7.21 in the animals with ascites, it was determined as 7.48 in healthy animals. Concentrations of SO2 and ctO2 were higher in healthy animals, while ctCO2P and hemoglobin concentrations were higher in ascitic animals (p<0.05). Conclusions. Ascites mortality rates starting from the control group were calculated respectively as %; 20.00, 18.33, 26.67, 28.33 and 28.33%. 76.71% of total ascites deaths were in the 5th week. It was concluded that low doses of L-carnitine supplementation may have positive effects in the broilers grown at high altitude.

Objective. To describe the case report of a parasitized dog with Spirocera lupi in Yucatan, Mexico, as well as report cases registered in two laboratories during 18 years of parasitological and necropsy studies (2000-2017). Materials and methods. A case study is reported, with necropsy, histological and parasitological findings. Likewise, a retrospective study of cases reported in two laboratories where necropsies and faecal Flotation techniques (centrifugal and McMaster) were performed. Results. At the necropsy of the dog, three esophageal nodules were observed, which showed nematodes of S. lupi during the incision of the mass. The histological study showed an eosinophilic granuloma that contained the nematodes at its center, surrounded by a moderate inflammatory infiltrate formed by neutrophils, eosinophils, lymphocytes, plasma cells and macrophages, delimited by a capsule of fibrous connective tissue. In the retrospective study, prevalence of 0.18 and 0.48% were found by coprological tests and necropsy study, respectively. Conclusions. Spirocerca lupi is present in dogs from Yucatan, Mexico with low prevalence, producing in the esophagus of dogs lesions characterized by eosinophilic granulomas. The need to include this pathology in the differential diagnosis of esophageal and respiratory problems in dogs is disclosed.

Although the Colombian poultry industry has almost doubled its production in the last decade, our ability to diagnose and characterize avian pathogens is deficient, and there is little information of the circulating viral pathogens. One of these pathogens is Marek disease virus (MDV), which is an immunosuppressive agent that can cause high mortality rates and substantial production losses. Currently, there are few documented clinical cases due to the implementation of mass vaccination programs with GaHV-2 strains (serotype I) and HVT (serotype III). However, losses in production rates are likely occurring due to immunosuppression and subclinical infections. The objective of this review is to describe MDV and the current status of the infection in Colombia.
