Poiésis is a biannual publication of the Graduate Program in Contemporary Studies of the Arts of UFF and aims to publish contributions (articles, art works, translations and reviews) that promote the debate on the production of the arts and critical thinking in the contemporaneity.
The journal began to be published at the end of the year 2000 and in 2008 it gained an electronic version available online. Since 2016, the journal is published only on the electronic portal of the Universidade Federal Fluminense on the Internet. Counting on the collaboration of professors-researchers from Brazilian and foreign universities (ad hoc referees), Poiésis adopts double-blind evaluation. In addition, Poiésis uses plagiarism detection features in the material submitted for publication in order to avoid practices that are not suitable for academic production.
In the evaluation of the works submitted to Poiésis, the following aspects are considered: (1) adequacy to the scope of the journal; (2) originality of the reflection proposed by the work; (3) relevance of the issues addressed to the study area; (4) updating and relevance of bibliographic resources; (5) objectivity and clarity of expression and use of adequate technical-scientific language.
All submitted papers go through the same evaluation process until accepted for publication.
Poiésis offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making artistic and scientific research freely accessible to the public contributes to a greater global exchange of ideas and to the democratization of different forms of knowledge. The journal does not charge authors any fees during the entire submission process, either in the processing of manuscripts or their publication.
