The capital market in Bangladesh does not always act based on the fundamentals. Fundamental means the set of ethics, principles, guidance, various market instruments and well structural set up that helps the stock market for operating well. Structural weakness is a thing which may ruin the market base or fundamentals. But the capital market as part of the economy should function based on the fundamental norms, principles and proper rules and regulations. Otherwise, there may be some detrimental effects on the market. Stock market anomalies bring harm not only to destroy market fundamentals but also to spread manipulation inside the stock market. Moreover, the recent stock market crash in 2010-11 was the biggest shock for the 3.3 million innocent and small investors in the capital market of Bangladesh. A section of greedy investors resorted to manipulation at different levels to cash in on the lack of small investors’ proper knowledge about market fundamentals. The excessive fraudulent activities of the unscrupulous manipulators just hastened the fall of the market. So, much of the focus of this study has been put on the causes and consequences of the fundamental deviation and the riddle of manipulation based on the relevant facts and figures.

This study investigated the association between Parents’ education levels and beliefs towards HIV/AIDS and People Living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA). Data was collected using a set of questionnaire. Five points Likert was used to measure parents’ attitudes and beliefs towards HIV/AIDS and PLWHA. Findings from this study show that age, sex, religion, and occupations had no significant influence on beliefs but differences in education level exerted difference in beliefs of respondents towards HIV and AIDS and PLWHA (p = 0.010). Misconceptions and negative beliefs towards HIV/AIDS and PLWHA among parents with no formal education should be fought.

Introduction: The 21st century was started with the dawn of a new economic puzzle of China’s fast economic growth. It has surprised the economists. The Chinese constant upward growth has shifted economic paradigm and the axis of growth appear to have been shifted from the western hemisphere to the eastern hemisphere. Some economists term it a 21st century miracle. The author has determined to test this miracle through empirical framework. Research Question: Main research question of this study to explore the answer of the question why China is recording consistent rapid economic growth? Is this growth in the same way as other developed countries experienced in the past or is it a new phenomenon-a shift in global economic paradigm. Objectives: The objective of this empirical analysis is to investigate into the causes of fast economic growth of China in the context whether this growth pattern is a normal phenomenon or an indicator of shifting global economic paradigm. Methodology: Our study is spread over a period starting from 1980 to 2011 because of the introduction of economic reforms and massive economic growth. We have collected data from different sources such as China Bureau of National Statistics, IMF, World Bank and relevant research Journals and books. The selected variables for this research paper are: labour productivity, investment, exports, Research and Development expenses, capital stock, open door policy, real exchange rate and US GDP. We used ordinary least square (OLS) model to measure change in the selected variables. Five tests were used to test the stability of the model. Findings: The Econometric results show that international trade and investment in capital stock and R&D expenses by Chinese Government are the major determinants, which are responsible for enhancing labour productivity and output in the long-run, Similarly, real exchange rate appears as an important determinant to explain change in output in the long-run.

Purpose: The aim of this research was to find out the differences in guest occupancies and profits of the private and public hotels between and within the years 2008 and 2014. Methodology: The researchers followed explanatory research to differentiate the data with statistical tools. The researchers undertook the deductive approach to test the hypothesis comparing occupancy and profit of the hotels. The researchers used survey and interview method in this study. Public and private hotels were chosen as sample during the year 2008 and 2014 from Cox’s Bazar main beach area. The samples were selected based on judgment sampling method. The researchers used mono method and a cross-sectional research by considering the data of the years 2008 and 2014 only. This research mainly based on field survey instead of depending on the artificial figures provided by the hotel officials. The information was confirmed by several respondents during the interview. Findings: Significant differences found in the occupancies and profits of the public and private hotels during the year 2008 and 2014 individually. Also, between the years, 2008 and 2014, differences were observed in occupancy and profit of the private hotels. No difference diagnosed in the occupancy and profit of public hotels between 2008 and 2014. In the survey, the researchers’ diagnosed that the hotels had a common tendency to avoid Tax payment to keep the profit uncut. Practical implications: Further research can be done to compare the tax earnings of the government from public and private sector at different period. New researchers can use this research data in further research to calculate the tax payment based on revenue earnings and occupancy.
