One of the controversial regions of the world, the Arctic Region is situated in the North Pole and it is not subject to an international regulation and none of the littoral states has established the sovereignty over it. The region, status of which has not been finalized through a special treaty, occasionally causes conflict among the parties. The significance of the Arctic Region originates from fact that a significant portion of the undiscovered yet estimated petrol and natural gas reserves lie beneath the North Pole Region and approximately a third of these reserves are located in the Arctic Region. Covered with wide ice plates, the region drew the attention of all countries, especially those having borderline with it since the beginning of the 20th Century, during which importance of energy resources started to increase. The marine transportation opportunities are the other significant feature of the Arctic Region. The fact that new energy resources will emerge and advantage in marine transportation it may pose as a consequence of the glacial melting stimulate countries’ appetite over the region. Russia, one of the five countries that have borderline with the Arctic Region, claimed the region and planted its flag in the Region in 2007 via the vessel they used to conduct research in the region and this brought the matter to international public opinion again. Purpose of the study is to conduct a comparative review of the political and legal status of the Arctic Region, over which there are intense conflict between the bordering nations, in the context of the respective nations, which have claims in the Region.

Many theoretical approaches to social life are available for the effects of the economic crisis. A large part of this theoretical approach takes reference consisting of asymmetric information in times of crisis. The existence of asymmetric information, leads to the emergence of a number of problems such as cognitive regret, dissonance. Increasing asymmetric information in times of crisis leads to deterioration of human behavior, lying, divorce, suicide and unwanted behavior in society. In this study, the effect of 1998, 2001 and 2008 crises experienced in Turkey and global economy in the province of Van were analyzed. Tobit regression analysis was used as a method. According to the results obtained, the global financial crisis of 2008 was a negative effect on marriage, divorce rate increases in 2001 and 2008 crises, the crisis of 1998 and 2008 increased effect on the number of suicides.

A statistical study was done in order to determine the distribution of the subject of 201 MA, 6 Ph.D. and 48 competencies in arts theses on international art music composers according to universities, institutes in the universities with and without graduate programs in the field of music since the establishment of the Higher Education Council (HEC). Graduate studies conducted between 1987 and 2011 were covered within the scope of the present study. It has been conducted with this study that most graduate studies were done at the institutes of Social Sciences, in terms of the subject mostly studied was the study of a work, most graduate studies were done in the year 2010, and they were done in Mimar Sinan University with a most studied composer, Mozart.

Although Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925) is chronologically not an author of a Romantic movement, the desire controlling his late fantasy can be said to be a Romantic one where he seeks for a unification of spirit and matter. His presentation of a spiritualized natural world in opposition to the materialism of his own culture can well be regarded as an attempt to fictionalize a desired reconciliation of the spiritual and material world. Before he settled his philosophy of universalism, he therefore started writing as a typical late Victorian author extolling the virtues of blood and representing the hunting adventures of western men in his narratives; but later he conceived a supernatural truth among all components of the nature. He, therefore, accepted a common spiritual dimension shared by animals and humans. Such a dimension provided the possibility of communication between animal and human. Therefore, late in his career he stopped writing about then very common hunting stories and instead he dealt with some other narratives featuring spiritual themes and stories where animals were no longer hunted but played some spiritual roles. This article by this regards clarifies the reasons why Haggard, opposing to several of his contemporaries, differed in his attitude towards the cosmic reality in his environment and how the idea of Haggardian cosmology works.

This research was conducted at Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University on the students who are both doing exercises and who do not in order to explore their self-esteem and assertiveness levels. This study’s population consists of students who are studying at universities in Turkey where its sample consists of 669 students (330 women and 339 men) in total who are studying in various departments (Faculty of Science, Faculty of Letters, and Physical Education and Sports School) of Mugla University. In the research context, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Rathus Assertiveness Scale, and an information form containing the socio-demographic characteristics were applied in order obtain data were evaluated using SPSS 18 package program. In order to assess socio-demographic data, the percentage and frequency analysis were used. In addition to that, for the reliability study of the scale, Cronbach Alfa coefficient was calculated. Content validity and construct validity were examined for the validity study of the survey. Frequency analysis, t-test, Anova test and correlation tests were used. As a result of the research no relationship and difference were found between self-esteem and assertiveness levels of the university students who are involved in sports and who are not. However, a positive correlation between the level of self-esteem and assertiveness (significant) relationship is observed (p <0.05). Increase with individuals' levels of self-esteem, assertiveness behavior shows a linear increase in levels. The level of income by individuals in self-esteem and assertiveness levels vary significantly. As the amount of money spent increased, a significant difference was observed in the levels of self-esteem and assertiveness (p <0.05).
