This study with a qualitative approach aims to apprehend the social representation and disciplinary practices in Mental Health subject regarding the therapeutic role of the nursing students in the attention of adult into the Context of Enlarged Clinic held in the Day-Hospital Dr. Elger Nunes, Natal / RN. A total of 42 case studies were analyzed and formatted in corpus and based on the ALCESTE software. It was inferred for this group of students that the social representation is established acquiring knowledge to be therapeutic as student and professional. This competence makes them skilled to deal with mental disorders from the perspective of this service, as well as the official model of health care. The transformations of stamp social, political and economical happened in the last decades they rebound significantly in all the sections of the society. And if it cannot leave of considering the influences of those transformations for the mental health of the population. It is a epidemic cohort study that aimed at accomplishing the risk for mental disease in the population assisted by the Unit of Health of the Family of the habitational group, neighborhood of Mangabeira, city of João Pessoa-PB, where Self Report Questionnaire-20 was used (SRQ-20). Association of the Risk was observed for Depression and Anxiety with the feminine sex (59,40%), among the age group from 40 to 65 years (66%), in the occupation of domestic services (65,5%). We are mischievous to recognize that the mental suffering has been growing relatively in the studied sample and starting from that verification it is done necessary an immediate attention to the problems of mental health in the community’s people. The Communitarian Therapy comes appearing as a new technology of care in the programs of insertion and support to the mental health of the population. This exploratory research aims to identify the number of groups of community care with older people in the city of João Pessoa – PB, to know the main themes presented by the elderly and the strategies used to confront the difficulties and disclose evidence related to improving quality of life of older people. The data had been collected in the fiches of register of the therapies, analyzed in a quantitative boarding. The results had demonstrated that the problem most frequent in the aged one is stress it, the used strategy of confrontation more are the spirituality. This study aimed at capturing the psychosocial feelings and perceptions health workers face after accidents with biological material, identifying the difficulties to accomplish the follow-up. This qualitative research with intentional sample of 15 health workers was carried out. The fear was the first expressed feeling. The fear the health worker feels is related to his/her attributions, potentiates the development of stressing situations in work setting and trigger psychic suffering. The feeling of anger and outbreak appear in the discourses face the workers’ indignity. Another feeling is guilty for triggering the accident. This finding allows recommending organizational restructuring proposals as well as in the behavior of workers in the dynamics of work. It is an exploratory-descriptive study that aimed to analyze the disability retirement of employees of the UFRN for mental and behavioral disorders in the period 2000-2005. The sample was obtained from records of the DAS / PRH / UFRN. Of 43 retirees, 58% were men, 41% retire between 41-50 years and 35% between 51-60 years, 44% occupied position / function for the high school level and 28% for the elementary level. The mood disorders lead to 61% of the retirements by mental alienation, followed by thought disorders (19%), organic mental disorders and personality disorder (4%). We found that they lived with intense psychological distress creating an indirect burden on their lives and on their family’s life facing lost opportunities of life and to the adjusted years of disability affecting their work. Qualitative study that aimed at understanding the social representation of a parent with a premature child. The data were collected between May and June 2008, in a semi-structured interview with 17 parents whose premature children were hospitalized in the NICU of two public institutions in Natal, Brazil. The reports were analyzed based on the Social Representations Theory (SRT). The results reveal that the hospitalization of their children causes parents to experience emotions of fear, anguish, anxiety, loneliness interspersed with those of faith, joy and hope. For a parent the NICU is a frightening environment, albeit necessary for the specialized care that the conditions of the premature newborn require. This paper presents a reflection on the ICNP® and CIPESC® construed as a technological innovation capable of sustaining the nursing knowledge. They may be considered as product and process innovations that, inserted on complex realities, must estimate values and local cultures. The CIPESC® strengthens the presence of phenomena from the nursing practice in the SUS and to survive with autonomy and sharing information, it should be combined with institutional information systems and the ICNP®, thus it will establish cultural values strong enough to be available and to interact with systems of language of the profession as well as with systems in use in the SUS context. Our challenge is to overcome the use of a classification system as a mere instrument of work and view it as a technological innovation able to produce changes that will give the opportunity for nursing work. This article is a reflection on the production of knowledge about the work process based on some questions: who talks, and from where, about the work in Nursing?In this context, it is highlighted the role of the post-graduation courses and of the ABEn in the production of knowledge in the work process. Concerning the role of the post-graduation courses, the research areas focused on this theme are identified and an analysis of that production based on studies performed by a research group (Práxis/UFSC) identified its strengths and its fragilities in two studies about the group’s production showed in doctorate thesis and masters dissertations. The categories approached were: the organization of work and the worker’s health and the gaps identified were related to studies on the objects and the products of the work process, the evaluation of the quality of assistance, the needs of the care subjects, the aim of the work and the praxis itself in the social-historical scenario. The paper aims to discuss the way of equity can be reached by International Classification of Nursing Practice in Collective Health - CIPESC®. CIPESC® is a Brazilian system to classify nursing phenomena, It’s used in nursing consultation in primary care. Equity in health means that everyone in the society has opportunity to improve their potential of health. CIPESC® allows to know the nursing diagnoses and interventions and doing this allows knowing health needs and vulnerabilities of the social groups. Nursing interventions in the most vulnerable groups results interventions heading for equity. At the same time, it’s possible to revisit work process in health aiming to better focusing nursing actions. Also it’s possible to create new tools to the nursing interventions. This article approaches nursing as a social practice, grounded in the work category to address the nursing work force in Brazil. It recovers the historical arrangement of its profile associated to the most general organization of the health sector in the country. Workers’ profile is related to the aim of the health work process. Authors understand that the moving forces in the health context are restricted, but its organized actors can give directions determined by the technical, ethical and political ambits. Readers are invited to reflect on which nursing profiles are supported and targeted to the multiple Brazils. The characteristics of generalist nursing workers are highlighted, evidencing that new power and knowledge arrangements will be necessary for this training. This can build other profiles and outlines to health work and nursing, more committed with the principles of the Unified Health System. It is a literature review held by means of abstract consultation in the theses and dissertations data base of the Coordination of Specialization for the Superior Level Staff (CAPES – in Portuguese), from 1997 to 2006, using the words: professional’s health and nursing. 172 abstracts were identified. Most used key words were: nursing job and work (14.3%), occupational hazards (10%) and work accidents (10%). Only 119 out of 172 productions referred to the nature of the study, 52.9% have a quantitative approach in many research studies, ultimately descriptive or exploratory studies or both. Future outlook in this production field may be the issue of changing the study typology, putting aside descriptive and exploratory qualitative or quantitative studies in order to search scientific evidences and modern investigative methodologies besides the implementation of intervention proposals as well as the appreciation of nurses’ educational function. Retrospective study that aimed at describing the clinic and socio- demographical characteristics of 141 individuals which were interned in Teaching Hospital of Universidade Federal do Triângulo Mineiro, Uberaba, MG, Brazil, who were submitted to amputations related to diabetes and compare the number of amputations considering the variables sex, age, co-morbidity, the type of treatment and then associated the number of amputations with the duration of internments and diagnosis. Data were collected from patient health records, totalizing 208 amputations. Major percentage of masculine individuals (58,9%), and a major occurrence of amputation among the elderly (70.2%); the cause: diabetic foot (35.7%); the most of patients (75.0%) went through internment at least twice; most frequent co-morbidity: arterial hypertension (74.0%); median in the number of amputations was two.
