Etnonursing, as a research methodology, is applied to approach the cultural context and of care in health of one specific culture. Aiming at demonstrating the process of application of this methodology in nursing, from what is proposed by Leininger, four steps of observation
are presented, one of interview and for steps of analysis of data, covering specific and congruent criteria with the qualitative paradigm. These steps are not isolated, they relate to one another in an intricate way. It is considered that the knowledge produced can contribute
largely for the subjects of the research as well as for the practice of the health workers, developing nursing as a science and providing new paths for the health care, for performing their jobs, through ethics, diversity of workers; complementing the theory of Leininger.
