ABSTRACT The study was conducted with the purpose of identifying how nursing professionals understand the expression ‘humanized care’. This is a qualitative research, accomplished according to the historic oral thematic method. Seven nurses of a major São Paulo hospital were chosen to partake on this study. According to the analysis and understanding of the meanings expressed on the different speeches it was possible to identify that the expression ‘humanized care’ has been used with the intension of expressing dehumanization, associated both with nursing professionals dehumanization, from the patient’s perspective, and with dehumanization associated with the institution from the nursing professionals point of view. The aim of this paper is to present a study on the Continuing Education Program of a Teaching Hospital in the city of São Paulo, aiming to raise subsidies for its improvement from an interdisciplinary point of view. Data were collected with the program coordinators by means of a semi-structured interview and the questionnaire consisted of open and multiple-choice questions applied to 100 nurses into the Hospital. The results suggested some thoughts on the development of nursing educational processes, identifying challenges to be exceeded by the group. It was concluded that to change the nursing professional education into a continuous process, it must be considered the daily work as a support of the educational process, source of knowledge and object of transformation, which will favor a collective and interdisciplinary participation. Qualitative research that aimed at implementing a Discussion Group that could be research strategy and woman assistance. The subjects were eighteen women from a Health Unit. The method was the convergent and assistance research. The thematic analyzes was applied to the generated content from the discussion. The results indicated that the women referred the strategy of the Group establishing the dialogue, hearing their own voices and the other’s, developing the self-perception about the learning in the co-construction of the knowledge that contributes to the self-care. The Discussion Group had configured itself as opportunity and stimulation of the clientele in the fortification of the health promotion. This study aimed at analyzing the social representation of pregnant women about pregnancy, regarding care provided in nursing consultations during the prenatal period. A qualitative study conducted by semi-structured interviews, with fifteen pregnant women at the nursing consultations of the prenatal program regarding the care provided, analyzed by the ALCEST software. Three thematic axes were identified: the experience of pregnancy, constituted by the classes: the impact and the changes due to pregnancy; the orientations provided about pregnancy, with the classes: perception of the nursing consultation and family planning; and the approaches baby care, with the classes: how to take care of the new-born and how to assure good breastfeeding. This historical-social study aims at: contributing to the Data bank of the Historical-Cultural Center of Iberian-American Nursing through incorporating another recorded interview with a nurse as well as rescuing a portion of the State of Parana Nursing History; and helping in its dissemination. Life oral history was utilized as this has facilitated to know the trajectory followed by the nurse Neuza Aparecida Ramos, as a person and as a professional. Her life oral history was collected through an interview which has captured her living and working experiences as well as her leadership in the educational field. Data collected were classified into the following categories: professional trajectory, the work in Curitiba, carried out activities, challenges, assignments received and her personal vision on the future of the profession. This paper has allowed to rescue the life history of an ocular witness of important facts of the Brazilian Nursing History and that of Parana. Descriptors: Nursing; Nursing history; History.

We approach the implementation of the Curricular Guidelines of degree in nursing in Paraná identifying the curricular changes triggered, analyzing changes made and identifying pedagogical principles that were effectively materialized with the new proposals. We found a growth around 80% of private courses/schools of nursing. We analyze 9 political pedagogical projects showing that some courses have their own constructions from the curricular guidelines. Others are suited to them literally. The data relating to education focused on the student; the role of the professor; the pedagogy of skills; the learning to learn; the Unified Health System as a focus of the training; a licenciature/education in nursing; the research in the graduation; the times in training and the methodological approach of the course testify this assertion. This study is the result of the project: Networks care and social entrepreneurship: the autonomy and social commitment of nurses. The purpose of this qualitative study is to comprehend the meaning of nursing care as a social enterprising practice. The Grounded Theory was used as a methodological reference and the interview, conducted with 35 participants as technique of data collection. Data codification led to the central theme: Viewing Nursing Care as a Social Enterprising Practice. This theme is complemented by the category, characterized the cause condition: The social integration through the creation a political identity that expresses your involvement. The results showed that is necessary to learn and have a deep dialogic knowledge. In order to consolidate popular participation as a citizenship ideal, a critical professional attitude, base don the combination of care with liberty, participation end autonomy. Etnonursing, as a research methodology, is applied to approach the cultural context and of care in health of one specific culture. Aiming at demonstrating the process of application of this methodology in nursing, from what is proposed by Leininger, four steps of observation are presented, one of interview and for steps of analysis of data, covering specific and congruent criteria with the qualitative paradigm. These steps are not isolated, they relate to one another in an intricate way. It is considered that the knowledge produced can contribute largely for the subjects of the research as well as for the practice of the health workers, developing nursing as a science and providing new paths for the health care, for performing their jobs, through ethics, diversity of workers; complementing the theory of Leininger. We consider looking at the death and dying as a social, historical and cultural construction. Thus, in we approach them to the Cultural Studies to know nurses´ speeches on the subject. The research is periodic articles of two national ones of nursing. In the analyses we use tools proposals for Michel Foucault that they make possible to constitute four categories: the silenced and occulted death; stopping one it fights against the death; the death in scene: multiplicity of faces and the palliative death and cares: paradigm change. This study had as objective to reflect about incubate of learning in the nursing as an innovation in the teaching of the care. This study objective is to describe the issues associated to the origin of the Brazilian Nursing Congress and its course between 1947 and 2007; and to discuss the implementation of this strategy by the Brazilian Nursing Association (ABEn). It is a historical survey with documentary research. The documentary analysis allowed reaching the following categories: the origin of the Brazilian Nursing Congress and the congresses as the political nursing arena. We have concluded that the Brazilian Nursing Congresses have reflected the construction of the Brazilian Nursing history, aiming at stimulating the critical consideration on the professional problems and investing in the production of knowledge, addressing the growing complexity and quality of the professional practice.
