Em diálogo com a leitura de John W. O’Malley sobre o Concílio Vaticano II, o presente artigo analisa seu corpus textual e se pergunta sobre seu “estilo pastoral”. Desde sua preparação, o Concílio se caracterizou por um processo de intercompreensão conciliar e ecumênica. Seu estilo afastou-se das fórmulas canônicas, eliminando os anátemas e aproximando-se do estilo evocativo, bíblico (narrativo, parenético, deliberativo, doxológico). Os preâmbulos das Constituições Dei Verbum, Sacrosanctum Concilium, Lumen Gentium e Gaudium et Spes permitem avaliar esse “estilo pastoral” e as consequências para a recepção visível na exortação Evangelii nuntiandi, na encíclica Ut unum sint e no encontro inter-religioso de Assis em 1986. À guisa de conclusão, recorda que o estilo cria o mundo que o texto habita. Daí o valor heurístico desta abordagem na análise da recepção do Vaticano II e a determinação de uma autêntica fidelidade ao espírito e à letra do Concílio, em contraste com outros textos que revelam o conflito entre esse “estilo pastoral” e a tradição dogmática. ABSTRACT: In dialogue with the reading of John W. O’Malley on the Second Vatican Council this article analyzes its textual corpus and questions its “pastoral style.” Since its preparation, the Council was characterized by a process of conciliar and ecumenical mutual understanding. Its style departed from the canonical formulas, eliminating the anathemas and approaching the evocative style, Biblical (narrative, parenetical, deliberative, doxological). The preambles of the Constitutions Dei Verbum, Sacrosanctum Concilium, Lumen Gentium and Gaudium et Spes assess this “pastoral style” and the consequences for the visible reception in the exhortation Evangelii nuntiandi, in the Encyclical Ut unum sint and in the interreligious meeting in Assisi in 1986. By way of conclusion it points out that the style creates the world in which the text dwells. Hence the heuristic value of this approach in the analysis of the reception of Vatican II and the determination of an authentic fidelity to the spirit and to the literal meaning of the Council, in contrast with other texts that reveal the conflict between this “pastoral style” and the dogmatic tradition.

A teologia e a cidade são construções históricas que expressam o mesmo processo de racionalização do espaço e da religião. A leitura de fé sobre a cidade implica a distinção e a relação entre os projetos humanos e o Projeto de Deus, o discernimento sobre as configurações socioespaciais concretas e com seus vários modelos. O artigo enfoca de modo panorâmico as implicações teológicas das cidades em quatro momentos históricos distintos: a cidade grega, as cidades medievais, as cidades modernas e a metrópole atual. ABSTRACT: Theology and the city are historic constructions that express the same rationalization process of the space and of religion. The faith interpretation of the city implies the distinction and relationship between the human projects and the project of God, the discernment of the configurations of concrete social settings and with their various models. The article focuses through a panoramic mode on the theological implications of cities in four distinct historical moments: the Greek city, the medieval towns, modern cities and the current metropolis.

O presente artigo procurará expor, em um primeiro momento, a interpretação de Bouillard da atitude da fé em Eric Weil e, depois, em um segundo momento, explorar a influência do pensamento weiliano sobre a teologia bouillardiana. É verdade que, em princípio, o sistema weiliano ignora tanto as religiões históricas quanto as reflexões filosóficas sobre Deus. Não obstante, o pensamento weiliano é essencialmente aberto a uma transcendência infinita, representada pela categoria Sentido da Logique de la philosophie. A originalidade de Bouillard está em aproximar essa transcendência filosófica com a experiência religiosa. Para fazer isso, ele nega toda possibilidade de acesso a Deus através da teologia filosófica natural e passa a defender uma teologia plural das diversas experiências religiosas, compreendidas na Logique de la philosophie como “poesia fundamental”, isto é, como produção de sentido concreto. É desse modo que,segundo Bouillard, as experiências religiosas, incluindo a fé cristã, podem encontrar espaço no sistema weiliano. ABSTRACT: The essay tries firstly to present Bouillard’s interpretation of the attitude of faith in Eric Weil and secondly to determine the influence of Weil’s thought on Bouillard’s theology. Weil’s system, although (at least in principle) not considering neither historic religions nor philosophical reflections on God, is essentially open to an infinite transcendence represented by the category of Meaning in Logique de la Philosophie. Bouillard’s originality refers to the approximation between this philosophical transcendency with religious experience via the affirmation of a theology of different religious experiences in the detriment of all influences between access to God and natural philosophical theology. By interpreting the pluralism of religious experiences as Logique de la Philosophie ”fundamental poetry” — i.e. as production of concrete meaning — Bouillard can stress the possibility of encounter between religious level (Christianity included) and Weil’s system.
