The persecution of Christians in Syria became an obvious reality in the period of conflict in this country (2011 – present). However, with a close examination of this phenomenon, one can find that the positions of different Churches in the mosaic Christian community of Syria is not homogeneous. We say about internal reasons, because external persecution by terrorists
is carried out without confessional division. In our article, we try to identify the main factors of such influence. Thus, we estimate the number of Christians in each denomination before the war and now, we consider the predisposition of communities to migration, the scale and geography of the Christian exodus. An important factor is the external support of the communities,
the informational policy of the Churches and so on. Thus, the Antiochian Patriarchate, being the largest community, was less than others provided with external support, it has lower representation in the informational space. The churches of the non-Chalcedonian tradition can use the material and media support from numerous foreign diasporas. The Armenian community
has additional support from the Republic of Armenia. The churches of the Catholic branch form a one tree with the largest Christian Church in the world, which has experience of charitable work for many years. This factor puts them in a winning position. Summing up, we consider it important to create an inter-Christian center that would contribute to a rightful restoration of the historical confessional composition of Syria.
