A clinical trial is a research study to answer specific questions about vaccines or new therapies or new ways of using known treatments. Clinical Trials also called medical research and research studies] are used to determine whether new drugs or treatments are both safe and effective. Carefully conducted clinical trials are the fastest and safest way to find treatments that work. Leads for clinical trials usually come from researchers. Once researchers test new therapies or procedures in the laboratory [animal studies] and get promising results, they begin planning Phase I clinical trials [in humans].New therapies are tested on people only after laboratory and animal studies show promising results. Clinical Trials make it possible to apply the latest scientific and technological advances to patient care. When a new medical treatment is studied for the first time in humans, it is not known exactly how it will work. With any new treatment, there are possible risks as well as benefits

Pharmacovigilance is an important and integral part of clinical research. Pharmacovigilance is “defined as the pharmacological science relating to the detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse effects, particularly long term and short term adverse effects of medicines. This addresses what exactly is pharmacovigilance? What do we know of its benefits and risks, challenges and the future hold for pharmacovigilance in Indian medicine. Here the main focus on the aims and role of pharmacovigilance in medicines regulation and their Partners. This article describes and discusses the National programme of pharmacovigilance and centre in India. Their role in collecting the reports ADRs of medicines. Further effectiveness and risk assessments of therapies are been discussed. The important role played by health care professional, pharmaceutical industries, media, and programmes carried by WHO. Finally the conclusion describes the major challenges and achievements for the future pharmacovigilance programme.

The present manuscript describe simple, sensitive, rapid, accurate, precise and economical Qabsorbanceratio method for the simultaneous determination of diazepam and propranololhydrochloride in combined tablet dosage form. Absorbance ratio method uses the ratio ofabsorbances at two selected wavelengths, one which is an isoabsorptive point and other being the _-max of one of the two components. Diazepam and propranolol hydrochloride show anisoabsorptive point at 235 nm in 0.05 M methanolic sulphuric acid. The second wavelength usedis 215 nm, which is the _-max of propranolol hydrochloride in 0.05 M methanolic sulphuric acid.The linearity was obtained in the concentration range of 1-20 μg/ml for both diazepam andpropranolol hydrochloride. The concentrations of the drugs were determined by using ratio ofabsorbances at isoabsorptive point and at the _-max of propranolol hydrochloride. The methodwas successfully applied to pharmaceutical dosage form because no interference from the tabletexcipients was found. The results of analysis have been validated statistically and by recoverystudies.

Benzo-annulated coumarin derivatives show wide application in organic light-emitting devices and are used as electron transporting emitters. In addition, coumarin family is an important building block for the synthesis of a variety of fascinating polycyclic unnatural products. 5-6Benzocoumarin derivatives show antimicrobial, antiinflammatory and anticancer activities. The utility of microwaves in heterocyclic synthesis is now receiving considerable attention. As a part of our study, aiming to explore potential utility of microwaves as an energy source for heterocyclic synthesis, it has been reported that synthesis of benzocoumarins of potential interest as pharmaceuticals and/or photochromic dyes and investigation of the possibility of conducting these reactions under microwave irradiation in addition to the standard thermal conditions has taken place. The compounds are synthesized by conventional and microwave method. Malonamic acid of 4-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxy aniline was treated with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde. The synthesis by microwave provides better yield, more pure compounds and cleaner synthesis route. This study explains the synthesis and wide range of pharmaceutical properties of new substituted benzocoumarins.
