This study aims at making a historical review upon the presence of the railway line in the city of Rio de Janeiro as the symbolic and material object of the integration into urban life in its spatial and temporal dinamycs. It allowed visiting and also the interaction between separate spaces either smooth or striated, within a long-lasting cultural process of exchanges, mediations and conflicts that has modified the urban landscape and specifically has drawn up new shades to the social bonds by constructing and connecting subjectivities as well as producing the alterity. In turn, such process resulted in the formation and characterization of Rio de Janeiro as a mestizo city.

Discuss the role of Joaquim Manuel de Macedo in the organizational structure of the Historical Institute, and then, its contribution to national historiography developed during the Second Empire, in particular his work "The Brazilian Biographical Year."

This paper describes the interdisciplinary project developed and implemented by the professors Ana Beatriz Frazão Ribeiro e Marcia Rodrigues Pereira, in the year 2013 in the Teaching Residency Program of the Colégio Pedro II, with teachers from the State High School Antonio Houaiss. This project aimed to identify the changes operated from the introduction in a post-graduate program of a group of teachers belonging to the same school institution and its main work axis was school patrimony. We analyze activities throughout the year and we pointed out their partial results.

Relying on the theoretical perspective of constructivism, this work concerns an interdisciplinary pedagogical project of a group of teachers which teach in the first years of elementary school of Colegio Pedro II, Campus Engenho Novo I. In order to improve the school knowledge and boost the teaching in daily practice at the intersection of social sciences and education, its main work axis was to encourage the active involvement of children into the teaching and learning process by developing concepts such as time, memory, cultural heritage, identity and citizenship and, in doing so, showing possibilities of social action, either individual or collective, based on the assertion of identity and diversity.

The present study reflects upon the formation of history teacher in the undergraduate courses. It aims to observe how are the frameworks for lifelong teaching built and how a student can acquire such an amount of knowledge in still-early stage when coming into contact with contents and approaches to history while in the process of becoming a teacher. These concerns are in the midst of the curricular changes stimulated by the legal guidelines for the Formation of Teachers and for the Undergraduate courses in History of early 2000s.

Under the theoretical-methodological approach which underlines the heritage as a historical knowledge and includes new understandings around cultural diversity, the present study discusses how the heritage education may provide some insights into how to enlarge the practice of teachers. Our analysis refers to the contributions of heritage education with its different frames of identity references, highlighting the bonds between history and memory for the teaching and learning process and so emphasizing the conectivity between research and teaching in the basic education.

The text contextualizes the implementation of the municipal multieducation of Rio de Janeiro, in the period 1993/2001, and analyzes their impacts and consequences. Also, it attempts to relate such public administrations to neoliberal ideology, seeking to demonstrate the presence of such ideals in the educational proposal implemented. Finally, the author relates the abandonment of the teaching Multieducation resistance to some of its assumptions.

Among many societies that existed in the vicinity of the Ancient Mediterranean, Sparta was one of the most impressed the ancient authors. However, due to its specificities, the spartan polis was represented in different ways which emphasized, on the one hand, how its citizens valued the ancestral tradition and, the other hand, an idea of society based on excesses and overly combative. Thus, this work aims to highlight as the representations of Sparta that, based upon too-sedimented ways of thinking in the major part of the Western world, were resulted from a specific historical context, whose in-depth analysis may provide us evidences upon the modern motivations related to dysphorization of the spartans values of Antiquity. This paradigm is present in the history textbooks of the Brazilian education system.
