Think contemporary literature has been a major challenge. How
come? Each past period has also been the challenge for literary criticism in that
moment ... Two collections, one of short stories and other due to poetry,
published in the 1970s, served as a milestone in what was called contemporary
Brazilian literature and they were organized by Alfredo Bosi and Heloísa
Buarque de Hollanda. From that decade to the present, the literature has shown
signs of vitality and plurality concerning aesthetic and marketing choices. Yes,
aesthetics and market are also flirting and sometimes they operate hand in
hand. Side by side the free dissemination done digitally, literary works in book
form must be marketed ... In addition to the market in the artistic and literary
production of the act itself, writers are seeking aspects that most represent
them, and, the criticism has been occasionally surprised by the impossibility as
we should call it, a more satisfying classification. Still, we hope to contribute
pointing shafts likely path to this exploratory journey: the new "marginal
literature"; the so-called "new generation" (names that represented Brazil in
international literary fairs and have dawned on national literary competitions)and another who belongs to the literary canon and the "high culture". It is also
worth noting a fourth way in which women's literature, gay, African-Brazilian and
indigenous are contemplated. It is important to note that all trends, to a greater
or lesser extent, also dialogue with other arts and media. The search for new
criticism glance is precisely made just in the crossing act of analyzes such
literary strands.
