In the Cartas Perto do Coração (2001), a collection that gathers the letters
exchanged between Fernando Sabino and Clarice Lispector, we analyze the
processes that involve the writing of himself these authors, from the conception of
"autobiographical pact," postulated by Philippe Lejeune. In this study, based on the
idea of "file self" proposed by writer Philippe Arties, we will discuss the letters as a
vehicle for creating subjectivity and poetic image of the self. We will check how
Fernando Sabino and Clarice Lispector take ownership of the literary discourse,
offer themselves to the gaze of another, and so they build their images from their
daily lives. We will work, too, how the authors were open to examination of
conscience shared with the corresponding and thus contemplating their lives and
also their artistic creations. Through the letters, we reflect also on the similarities
between the composition of their characters and themselves, because we
understand the charts as deposits marks the initial impulses that gave rise to books of Clarice and Fernando, in which character and author was confused in the
structure of the text.
