Neuropsychology has had an explosive grow in the last decades. It contributions to the fields of Psychiatry are growing in an exponential rate. Research related to schizophrenia has bringing new views of the nature of the disease, at the same time offering contradictions and questions pending to resolve. The present article exposes the most relevant discoveries in the neuropshychology of schizophrenia (neuroanatomy dysfunctions, development neurofuntionality, alterations in neurotransmitters and cognitive deficiencies) and areas for exploring.

In the present article we defined hypnosis from a psychobiologic viewpoint. We understand this phenomenon as a particular “global state” in which the subject exhibit changes both in subjective – conscious state - and in visceral, automatic and behavioural process, al these as a result of integrative activity of the neuro-endocrine system (NES). Here we petend two objetives, the first: to outline a preliminar definition of hypnosis as a state, and the second: present a review of some neuroscientific studies about different hypnotic phenomena. Within the hypnotic phenomena, we select five of them of general interest: pain, perceptual modulation, emotional evocation, phobia treatment and attentional conflict manegment in hipnosis. These are relevant due they may contribute unto a vast development in basic investigation and in aplied psychotherapy. Phobia investigation has demonstrate the positive effect in patients highly hypnotizable, this treatment aloud to restore the sympatic-vagal balance. The brain imaging results suggest an attentional change model, in which participate the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC). Emotional control studies stablished changes in evoqued potential in different cortical regions. The hypnosis posibillities to inhibit and to evoke emotions in front of specific virtual events are of enormous value in therapy. Attentional studies present the effect of specific suggestions in higly hipnotizable patients, the activity of ACC and visual cortex decrease significatively. These outcomes correlate with a lessen attentional conflict (attentional interference) during Stroop paradigm. All these findings demonstrate that hypnosis is a productive field for basic and clinical investigation.

El Dr. Brusth, director del departamento de Neurología del Hospital Central de Harlem (Nueva York) ha contado con la colaboración de diferentes especialistas a lo largo de los treinta seis capítulos de los que consta este manual procedentes de diversas instituciones de Estado Unidos (Nueva York, California y Arizona). El estudio del sistema nervioso central y de los procesos cognitivos se acompaña de un conjunto de técnicas de exploración complementaria: análisis de parámetros neuroquímicos, registros electrofisiológicos (EEG, potenciales evocados) y técnicas de neuroimagen.

The current article was developed from several conclusions obtained during a new and interesting professional practice experience of psychology, consisting of the introduction of neuropsychological diagnosis and rehabilitation services in the public tertiary health system context. During its accomplishment, it was possible to get to know thoroughly about the sufferings that brain stoke damaged patients have to face day by day, demonstrating their imperious need to obtain some type of therapeutic support parallel to the physiatric treatment among the predefined procedures in the current level of coverage of the AUGE – GES program. From this reflection it is expected to open new ideas and contributions that help to expand nervous system diseases rehabilitation treatments for patients attended in the public system, nowadays limited to movement or of daily activities therapies. This need of updating the treatments, derivative of the newest conceptions of an integral human being (biological, social and psychic), demonstrate the importance of including neuropsychological diagnosis and rehabilitation as service of public health and its consideration as critical issue for the current and future health authorities.

The Hypothalamic Hamartomas (HH) are masses with low frequency of appearance that usually appear in nodes united to Tuber Cinereum or to the Mamillary Bodies. Since the development of the computerized tomography, hipotalamic hamartoma is considered as one of the the most common cause of precocious puberty, representing the 16% of the subjects in girls and up to 50% in boys. Despite the studies, little it is known about hipotalamic hamartoma natural history. It is considered of interest to present the case of a 6 year old child, Patricia, who was diagnosed with (HH) that induced precocious puberty ; reviewing part of the clinical manifestations followed by the realised evaluation as well as the therapeutic strategy and its results after a year from the initial diagnosis.

To ask for someone’s experience turns out to be always a reasonable option, not for coping or merely imitate, but rather to compare, to look for similarities, differences, references or profitable suggestions for the development of an own critical thought. To entrust only the own experience; can result in a baneful imprisonment, a harmful exercise of simple auto reference. To get to know how others have approached similar issues to those that we ask ourselves can become a valuable and even essential learning experience to look at our problems from a new angle, stimulating new questions and challenges, concretely in the field of the university activity. Such it is the aim of this space that assembles the thought of 3 important references in the field of the science and of the psychobiology.
