The Habermas’ academic project seeks to contribute to the realization of the
emancipatory goals of modernity, through the theory of communicative
action. Therefore, will be examined here if the process of rationalization of
modern society, present on the theory of communicative action, really
represents a potential for human emancipation. First, we intend to address in
this respective work the main concepts that Habermas uses in his theory of communicative action. In a second moment, will be explore the fundamental
elements of the theory of society. After that, will be analyzed the theory of
modernity and its relationship with the theory of society. Such a path will
aim to investigate the possibility of redemption of the project of modernity,
to explain the possibility of the theory of communicative action be
considered emancipatory enhancer of modern society, forming both the
citizen as an autonomous individual, preserving your personal identity, as
the citizen as participant in a political society, possessor of a cultural, ethnic
identity, among others, that covering various social groups.
